That article says he has an American Passport. Has there been an update in that regard? I know last year we thought he didn't have one due to his distance from his father.
I would take it with a grain of salt. It's the kind of thing that a reporter will include on an assumption (sorta like a citizen grandparent means you can be a US citizen).
That article says he has an American Passport. Has there been an update in that regard? I know last year we thought he didn't have one due to his distance from his father. His father will show up this summer in Germany and finally he will get his passport in summer.
Great success with the new Team! https://www.achtzehn99.de/aktuelles/ueberblick/u19-erfolg-auf-der-ganzen-linie/ https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=630555593807484 https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=630570037139373
Corey Anton started for Hoffenheim U19 in A Junior Bundesliga in their 0 - 3 win over Heidenheim U19 - He played the first half only!
After making four U19 appearances, Transfermarkt says he's out with a cruciate ligament rupture. That ain't good.
@FCKLady, do you have any update on Anton? How bad was his cruciate injury? How many months will he miss? Did his father end up showing up in Germany this summer for him to get his US passport? Thank You!
He was hit bad at a practice with the team of the 'Badische Fußballverband'. It was the coach of them. It is a cruciate ligament rupture at the outside of the left knee. He got his surgery at a special hospital in Augsburg (12th September) and is now on recovery. He is doing pretty good and everything works fine. He already walks without crutches. The comeback will be hopefully in May 2018. His father didn't show up this summer. He had a lot of excuses, well, now he is planning to come to Germany in May 2018. We'll see.
Corey is doing pretty good on his rehabilitation. Planning on starting praxis again in February. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=774751579379352
nothing new to report other than to say that Hoff U19 won the Sud/Sudwest title today on the last matchday and as such will play in the Championship SF vs Schalke. Sucks for Anton that he missed out on basically everything. what's worse is this season was his last in the U19. Has a contract until 2019, if he stays far more likely to be in Hoff II.But even then missed out on a key time in his dev.
now an actual update, today TM had him along with 6 other players as moving to Hoff II. Basically all guys with expiring 2019 or 2020 contracts. They've already gave the pro contracts to 3 players back in Jan/Feb.
He's under contract for one more season and will be too old for the U19s next year, so he moves to the reserves by default. Really tough timing for Anton on this injury. Many guys who make it to the first team in Germany are able to jump directly from the U19s. Anton missed this key "impress me" year and will be shunted to the reserves. There are many ways to climb the ladder, but this injury makes it a lot harder.
Finally he got his citizenship/passport this month. His father came over to visit him and they went to the Embassy in Frankfurt to do the paperwork. Also, he is back in a very good shape. His knee is back good and he will start with the Hoffenheim Team II the Pre Season on June 18th. Hoffenheim II is playing at the 4th league in Germany. It is not unusual, that Young players starting at the second Team on their first 'Senior Year'. (Timothy Tilmann the same with Bayern München II). A lot of U19 players which got pro contracts start first at the ' Reserve Team'. It's to get them used to the faster and harder play at a Senior league. Those 3 guys from his U19 Team, which got already pro contracts, will also play first at the Hoffenheim II Team. So, I am really happy that everything went good for him and convinced that the next season will be a great season. Can't wait to see him playing again.
