regardless of where Ives' subjective list ranks players.... the thing is, Tyler Adams is damn good at soccer. you shouldve chosen another player.

Yes, that's good news at this point. In order to successfully switch to another federation, the initial federation is required to know about it beforehand, because it must provide documents to FIFA about the player's history. For example, Jesse Gonzalez and the USSF had to contact the FMF in order to get the one-time switch filed in time for the Gold Cup. The Mexican Federation was surely not happy, but reluctantly provided documents to FIFA regarding his caps for Mexico at U18, U20, and U23 levels and that he was provisionally cap-tied at the CONCACAF U20s in 2015. Only after approving those documents could FIFA grant Jesse the switch.

After some meticulous stalking that I can't really say I'm proud of, I've found that he probably follows 25-35 USYNT players, and I didn't see any Mexican players other than those from Rayados. Seems like a lot of his friends are in the US program, including Brian Perez, someone who has recently gone from Mexico to the US. Hopefully, this will influence him to stay with the US. That's really all I'm hinging on at this point, everything else I've seen in the last few weeks have led me to believe he will be a Mexican player.

Yeah that wouldn’t work. Understand what you are getting at but he grounds are insufficient unless you know something I don’t?

Off-topic but do you have a link for Brian Perez being with El Tri? I'll add him to the Yanks on Foreign YNTs thread then. I know Perez is currently with our U20s at the mega-camp in Florida but didn't know he was with Mexico.

My mistake, I was thinking of Michael Barragan, I'm not really sure who Perez has represented at what levels. Again, my apologies.

It could work. I can't see how a league or club has the authority to decide which NT's a player can or can't be called up to. They have the right to decline call ups, but I don't think it would then work to let him go for the Mexico call up.

If they do that and it works, US Soccer should permanently refuse any call ups to the Mexican National Team at any level for any players plying their trade in the United States.

You do realize that a club has a right to refuse a call up that is not on a FIFA date?

My instinct still says Gonzalez will stick with the US because of his longtime desire to represent the country, his friends on the youth national teams, and Osorio not offering a ticket to Russia rather only an opportunity to compete in a friendly, while he is already provisionally cap-tied to the US, which would leave a lot of uncertainty in his international career. But if Osorio resorts to doing what Klinsmann did with Julian Green (promise a WC roster spot in exchange for filing the one-time switch), then I'd be a lot more worried. Just my two cents. Tom Marshall of ESPN FC also tweeted today that while Mexico has a very real shot, his money is still on Gonzalez choosing the US.

this will be an interesting few weeks. its pretty much identical to college recruiting when a player signs on a signing day. to my knowledge, there hasnt been a dual national 'recruitment' like this in program history.

It must be still too soon for me, because I believe that USSF, SUM and MLS would rather he go on and play for Mexico. It would be better for MLS to have one of their players playing that spot to showcase how "good" their league is.

If JoGo wants to play for Mexico in the next friendly his paperwork has to be already in the process.

I just had a thought. Let us say he stick with us, we love him, he goes out and plays in our friendlies....What happens if he stinks? are we still going to play him because of his devotion to the shirt or are we going to sit him like any other player?

Agreed. This contact is about more than this friendly. The recruiting process has begun.

if he chooses Mexico which is his right to do so. Then that's already a bad start for the US post WC18 failure.

also reminds me why I find dual/triple+ nationals as somewhat an annoying topic until the player is permanently cap tied to a country.

Like we kept playing Julian Green?

I'm thinking (hoping) the Altidore/MB "play them because we play them" attitude has been removed from the US Soccer collective mind.

Well then you good sir qualify as an optimist.

You always have to remember the folks that run MLS, own SUM, which controls the purse of the USMNT, in fact they redirect those revenues for their benefit, not the benefit of the USMNT. It is easy to extrapolate from that, they in fact would prefer to have a few must play or else folks from their shit league. To their minds they finance the USMNT and it exists to further their interests.

More shite journalism from SBI... downloaded ESPN article to word file, rearranged a few sentences, changed some words, and presto! Instant horrible US soccer journalism.

If they were in college they would be cited for plagiarism.

What? He would have been snubbed in favor of BaldyMcShitTheBed and te other USMNT MLS retirement league losers. We wouldn’t even be talking about him in the midst of MB journalism blow jobs and talk of whether this is the best USMNT ever to walk the earth.

Anyone who calls MLS a retirement league at this stage is simply not worth the read, because you clearly have no knowledge of the league.
