Is that our new business model? Develop coaches rather than quality youth players?

I do not see Gedion's career going too far with AFC sadly.

Wenger's rate of return is horrendous. Don't get your hopes up.

I don't know what happened. We don't have any prospects besides Bellerin and Iwobi.

This is wrong. That's just the normal rate of return on prospects.

I think it is them trying to take advantage of market inefficiency. They feel that they can get talent for cheap from there. Problem is, when they get here they don't get better or they regress; and when they actually by some stroke of luck make the first team we screw up when they get there too (What have we been doing to Iwobi for the second half of the season? Why does Maitland-Niles play the game of his life against southampton and never play again? Why not play Jeff instead of Walcott who we know isn't good enough? What's the worst that can happen? We lose to crystal palace?).

Not the argument I would make, though I see your point. The team does see these players in training, so I can assume they are rational in not giving them playing time. Better criticism, imo, is that we don't do a good job of finding loan opportunities for players that we do value. These guys need to play, and play a lot. Jeff and AMN really should be out on loan.

Also, smh at Walcott not being good enough.

I just watched England's amazing comeback thrashing of Spain in the U-17 World Cup final. It was a fantastic watch, and I HIGHLY recommend it.

Then I got wondering why there were no Arsenal players to be seen. So I looked up the 21-man squad and found:

Arsenal did indeed have 1 guy in the squad (Smith-Rowe), however Spurs had 2, Citeh had 3, and Chelsea had 5! Not to say that we don't perhaps have some talented U-17's from other countries, but we seem to be lagging with English ones.

I then checked the age cut-off and confirmed that our terrific trio of Willock, Nelson & Nketia all were just slightly too old to make this tournament. But no one behind them in the pipeline?

And there was one last interesting note: A guy called Jadon Sando, who apparently is quite the star, is the only player not with an English club. He's owned by Dortmund, and they unbelievably recalled him after the group stages... denying him the opportunity of a lifetime... winning a World Cup. Wow, that's one greedy, Scrooge-like move by Dortmund.

The U-17 world cup final was phenomenal and to get 70,000 fans to come out was awesome. End to end stuff. Super fun to watch.

U17 is a long way away from senior team. I would not sweat that stuff. We have some good talent coming up. Whether they become regulars or not will depend on our ambition and ability to spend on the free market. I think it is slightly unfair to say spend cash on established players and then moan about youth players not getting an opportunity.

Yep .saw that the other day Classic Wenger and medic keystone coppery there :(

Anybody take note of some hard tackes from Hayden leading to the card today ? Can’t blame him.

BTW what the hell happened to the Jeff?

More or less our top 3 prospects are
    AMN
    Eddie
    Reece Nelson

The quicker AMN can play at he base of the MF and supplant Khaka the better .

We desperately need someone with his skill set who can actually recover, defend and distribute.

In fact, he's on the bench tonite against West Ham. Don't know if he's any good frankly, but it's good that he's fit again to make his case for the future.

I heard that he was on the chopping block due to poor attitude. This is based on Arseblog though but his lack of involvement all season might speak to that. I do not know the extent of his injury.

I will also say this...I am not a big fan of Walcott but to say some random kid is better that someone with 47 caps for England and 100+ Arsenal goals is pretty bold if not outright asinine.

Those under 23 games are frikkin meaningless. Any player worth a crap is out on loan.

I certainly don't know all the factors that went into this, but I would guess that "undisclosed fee" was a big one. We're about to plunk down a big number on PEA. I'm sure they'd like some money coming in the other direction. This is probably a factor in the Giroud discussions as well.
