The W20s play a mini-tournament this weekend, at the 2017 Women's Nike International Friendlies.
This is our final(?) prep for the 2018/Jan CONCACAF W20s, which are both championship and WWCQ.

All matches shall be streamed live on ussoccer.com, ussoccer's YouTube, and ussoccer's Facebook.
(I bet two of those will simply link to the 3rd one ;))

The event is occurring in conjunction with the girls DA showcase near Tampa. Same field complex. In fact us soccer is also streaming some of the games (as it has been doing for certain matches) using the same link. My kid's team is required to attend the Finland game. There will be a decent showing in the stands. Hope they show well.

    Brasil 4-0 Finland

06' 1-0 Finland RCB #6 chases back to own 6m box right, taps outward past #17 Kerolin to RB #8 at 15m right touch. #8 square pass back to #6 at box top right -- but her first touch escapes 1m ahead of her. Brasil #_ clatter-pokes ball behind her to Kerolin at box top (her) left, she touches once to 14m mid-left, snaps right instep across mouth low, under GK's dive, bounces into right side netting.

31' 2-0 #2 Monalisa, left instep curl from box top mid-right into left side netting

    55' 3-0 #17 Kerolin, through-ball dribble through box top mid-right, rounds GK at 8m to 5m 7-right, passes in.

78' 4-0 Finland settle at midfield mid-(their)left, 1-v-1 turning away from close pressure. Catastrophic backpass to absolutely nobody in LB is a perfect throughball for #9 Valéria -- pause at 1:55:47 and you can see she was even onside :D Finland's two CBs are stranded at circle back, 10m behind before they even start running. Valéria roams to 8m 8-right, chips right instep bend off GK's left fingers, and in.

    Opportunistic and remorseless.

07' 0-0 Smith turns upfield to 24m arc right, blasts right foot toward 1/5 left low, Roebuck dives and blocks it wide.

19' 1-0 LB Pacheco square pass from midfield wide left to DM Peplow stepping up to circle center -- but a toe-poke doesn't settle, and Howell steals and counters up centerline, 2-v-3, with Smith 3m ahead and to her right. Smith correctly veers diagonally through the right gap (Fisk | Wubben-Moy), Howell rolls a near-perfect ground pass through the left gap (Patten | Fisk) and box top left post, Smith catches up to it at 8m 3-left, falling one-touch left hook shot beats Roebuck out at 6-top, perfect slow roller to right post low.

20' 1-1 Wubben-Moy outlets to Charles at circle top left touch, backpass deflects off Pacheco, she turns to chase. Backpass to Wubben-Moy, she has no pressure and looks upfield. Longball from circle back box left sails flat to 27m arc left, just past Girma's head -- and Brazil leans past her and wins that race, catches up to the bouncing ball at 16m center. Ivory charges out to 14m and sprawls, Brazil shin-touches ball past her and stumbles but stays upright to 10m 3-right, slow tap-in lags just behind Girma overpursuing to center, bounces into back left low. England's direct play is more athletic than ours ;)

25' 2-1 Brewster fk at 24m right touch, sailed over mouth and bounces at 6-top 5-left. #4 Peplow boxes out Morse at 6-top left, Morse shoulder-hauls herself in front, right sole stomp-block skitters to 3m 1/4 left. Roebuck sprawls centerward to fall on it -- but Fisk, lunging back from 6-top, gets a disastrous clearance-poke behind Roebuck's momentum, off her shins and into 1/5 left back low. Morse's shot was not on goal (would have been wide right), so that's an o.g.

__' 2-1 England subs in (1? of 4?) #17 Rinsola Babajide for #9 Ellie Brazil?

45' 2-1 Fisk sends a fast ground pass from own 1/3 mid-right to circle top -- #11 Charles clangs it ahead to Girma, but a poor one-touch square pass toward Brewster is intercepted by Babajide at 30m left post -- meanwhile, #14 Allen has busted the left side of our line, 5m ahead (and held onside by Brewster across the field). Babajide rolls a (too-)delicate pass to arc right, Allen runs on and shoots right instep to left post low -- just inside Morse sliding, just outside Ivory's hand diving -- and just wide left low.

    HT 2-1.

54' 2-2 Morse backpasses to Ivory, she settles and boots toward circle back box left -- but RB #2 Patten intercepts, taps left outstep to Russo at 30m mid-right -- and then continues her own run through Gate 3. Russo scoops a pass to Patten at 19m mid-right, she touches to box top right post, shoots left instep medium roller, beats Ivory's (late) dive, deflects in off right post low. Direct two-pass three-touch soccer :p

72' 2-2 Smith passes to Kuhlmann at 22m mid-right, 1-v-1 face-off vs. LB Pacheco. Kuhlmann cuts inside to arc tangent right, shoots left foot hard to left post low, Roebuck dives and blocks away to 5m 6-left. Coffey runs on and shoots to left post, Roebuck turns it over endline left.

73' 2-2 Brewster right ck, England heads across through box left and clears.

76' 2-2 DeMelo turns up centerline to 24m, right outstep hard flick splits Wubben-Moy and Fisk through spot. Turnbow is just-late to start chasing that through arc left, Roebuck slides to gather -- Turnbow's slide pushes Fisk's foot into Roebuck's face? Stoppage, trainers, all others get water. Roebuck resumes -- with a sheepish hug from Fisk.

79' 2-2 Babajide turns down box left to 2m, hard cross through 6-box misses everybody.

86' 2-2 All England pressure in USA's 1/3. RB Patten overlaps down box right to 1m, chips a contested cross past McKeown's slide to 6m center. Babajide plays the bounce, turns and half-volleys a shot rising to 1/3 left waist-high, Ivory torso-blocks (or palm-saves) wide left, USA clears.

87' 3-2 Wubben-Moy long backpass from midfield to Roebuck. Bad replay of previous  (USA wins Roebuck's forward kick?) Morse pings ball forward at circle front tangent right to Coffey at 30m arc left, one-touch pass ahead of Smith through arc top mid-left -- USA have a momentary 3-v-1 on the left. Smith settles at box top mid-left, minces sidestepping 1-v-1 on Fisk to 10m mid-left -- then turns hard past her to 6m 8-left, shoots left foot just past Fisk's stretch -- rising hard across mouth, over Roebuck, into 1/3 right back high. Don't blink!

89' 3-2 England have ~3 shots from ~10m mid-right, all blocked, last one over endline right. Before the ck, GK Roebuck is sitting down -- delayed reaction?

90' 3-2 England subs in (? of 6?) #13 Sandy Maclver for #1 Ellie Roebuck. Roebuck has a bit of a black left eye -- from some teammate's shoe.

90' 3-3 Pacheco right ck, inswings to 6-top center. #7 Russo jumps behind 3 players' turned backs , heads off/over Ivory's left fingertips, off crossbar center, down to chest-height. Ivory, falling backward into goal, claws ball out with right hand, back out into the scrum. AR promptly signals goal, England kicks it back into legs -- ref blows play dead, gives goal. Seattle nods

FT 3-3. We'll have a PK shootout?! Just for practice, good idea. Go through the ceremony.

    England kicks first.
    1 | 1 _ _ _ _ | #7 Alessia Russo, right instep to 1/3 right back low (Ivory dove wrong)
    0 | 0 _ _ _ _ | #9 Sophie Smith, right instep pull to 1/6 left low, MacIver dives and saves

    2 | 1 1 _ _ _ | #14 Georgia Allen, ibid.
1 | 0 1 _ _ _ | #3 Jordan Brewster, right instep to left post low -- it actually rolls along left side netting (MacIver dove wrong)

    4 | 1 1 1 0 1 | #6 Lotte Wubben-Moy, one step right instep into back right low (Ivory didn't move)

    4 | 0 1 1 1 1 | 0 | #18 Kelsey Turnbow, left instep to left post 1/2 high, MacIver dives and tips it wide

Officially, it's "just" a 3-3 draw. England wins the practice PKs.

USA looked a tad disjointed, in both attack and defense. I can understand getting beat by a longball if the other player wins the footrace, but poor marking on an elementary ck cost us at the end.

Roebuck had better saves than Ivory (but then, we put her under more pressure).

Smith continues to catch the eye for US. Ripped a real strong shot off the dribble in the first ten minutes and the second goal was quality. Also liked what I saw from Russo for the white shirts...should have strong career at UNC

USA seemed determined to play out of the back. England determined to press high. Much of the beginning of the game was USA backs passing back and forth. Quite a few turnovers. But to be expected I guess at this age?

Pinto is very good with the ball at her feet and an opponent on her back. Not as good at times with space. A lot of build out led to Harr and then went nowhere. Many of her passes were not crisp or to team mates.

The few times the USA got the ball into the final third they seemed very dangerous.

The first England goal was joke defending. Our CBs didn't look that good. But not a position where players usually are peaking at 20. But they almost looked like midfielders playing CB for the first time. The fullbacks both seemed very athletic, Rodriguez has a nice first touch. Howell was playing a #6 in what looked like a 4-1-3-2 and was sometimes great but often not. Too many simple giveaways. Seems like she wants to be aggressive and was good a couple of times when she was (interception leads to first goal), but the position calls for a more conservative approach and certainly needs someone that can make the simple pass 95% of the time.

50' 0-1 Clearance (back-)header bounces upfield to Babajide(?) at circle back left. She turns past 3, quick ground pass toward 25m mid-left for #19 Wellings making her cut upfield through circle top left -- meanwhile, #17 Russo sprints unmarked through midfield circle right. CB #4 cuts behind Wellings but whiffs clean on the intercept-try, leaving Wellings chasing the perfectly-weighted ball alone. CB #6 must slide across to 22m arc left, Wellings passes square right to Russo at arc tangent right. One touch to 15m right post, sliding right foot scythe chip floats past frozen GK, into back left edge 1/2 high. The two high FBs were nowhere, way up in attack and not dogging Russo's counter.

    USA - Finland

12' 0-0 DeMelo left ck to 9m right post, Kuhlmann heads down into legs, Finland kick it away to 12m 6-right. Morse left roundhouse volley to right post low, GK Tajatalo dives and catches.

13' 1-0 During the bad replay  of previous, Finland blown punt or turnover near own box top left. Abigail Kim drives down box (our) right and fights through #4 Schrey's tackle try, goes to 4m 8-right. Square pass to 6-top right post beats GK sprawling at right post low, #17 Tarryn Torres flick-volleys left outstep up into 1/3 right back high.
