That's one way to see it, but if Chile wouldn't have made that protest, nothing would have stopped Peru from doing it themselves alone, and they would've got the same veredict anyway, as the issue over which the protest was made, was done completely in accordance to the rules and laws of the game. Bolivia cheated in both of those matches and pretended to get away with it. At the end Chile didn't qualify, basicly by what our own team did in the pitch or better said, not do, which is to win vital points during the rest of the campaign. While Peru did win them, so they rightfully deserve to be where they are at.
Apparently it was 450 to 1 odds for the US to go out last night. If anyone put $500 on that they can buy a new house today with cash!
I'm no defender of AFC, generally speaking, but I continue to be confused by your comparison of AFC and OFC. Other than New Zealand, no OFC team would be remotely competitive against AFC's top 12 or so. Australia's achievements as a member of OFC are irrelevant to this comparison, as they are no longer part of OFC and therefore not relevant to OFC's current level. Sure, AFC isn't great, but this hyperbole about AFC being just as bad as OFC isn't adding anything to an honest critique of AFC's failings.
USA isn't elite, but draws with England (2010) and Portugal (2014) and being tied with Belgium after regulation (2014) are good results.
putting letters in bold is not going to help your case my friend. i said that you stepped it up when chile was in danger of elimination, and anybody can go and click on that thread and see how you stepped it up a few days ago. so putting in bold that the thread was started 3 years ago only showcases your desperation, as it is irrelevant. my feelings are not hurt my friend, i am going to see my team in russia. as i said, see you see us in russia. just let it go you will forget about it in a few days, until the world cup starts again.
At the end of the day, only wrong because I wasn't expecting Paraguay to bottle it at home to Venezuela.
Agreed. How do you go from winning as visitors against Colombia to losing as home team to Venezuela???
Paraguay is the definition of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde. They had some great upsets on the road (Argentina, Chile, Colombia) but lost key matches at home and just were plain mediocre this whole cycle. Venezuela beating Paraguay was not that shocking to me. Dudamel has them on the Right track.
kind of hard to believe that out of the 6 continental champions, only one has actually qualified, while half of them are already out.... Portugal - Qualified Australia - can still qualify New Zealand - can still, but probably won't USA - Out Chile - Out Cameroon - Out And even Portugal only just made it.
Just shows you how playing Continental Cup competitions at neutral sites can be way, way different than Qualifying which is more like a League season with home and away formats. As we see within Club Competitions... ...Cups and Leagues are different animals with different dynamics.
Some teams in group D Africa will get eliminated today depending on the result of South Africa vs Senegal. A win for the visitors will eliminate South Africa, Burkina Faso, and Cape Verde, and qualify Senegal for the finals. In fact anything but a win, and South Africa will eliminate the Bafana Bafana. However, a draw in that game will eliminate all three should Faso vs Verde also end in a draw. Should there be a winner in Burkina Faso vs Cape Verde, and South Africa beat Senegal - then only the loser of BF v CV will be eliminated.
BF vs. CV will be on November 14 when the second Senegal vs. South Africa game is, so BF and CV can be eliminated by a Senegal win today but not by their own game.
41 through 43. South Africa, Burkina Faso, and Cape Verde Islands were eliminated by South Africa 0-2 Senegal.
38. Northern Ireland Switzerland were the better team over the two legs, but such a shame that that controversial penalty proved so decisive in the end...
OMG please don't let Italy be #36. I am so nervous about tomorrow's game. Superstitions and History favor us, but I don't know. In the LORD we trust, he will give our players wisdom and hungriness to reach the 2018 World Cup in Russia, therefore we will give the performance of our life, and hopefully be rewarded with a spot at the World Cup. In the LORD we trust, God is with this team!
While I feel awful for Sweden for having such horribly awful luck in terms of its playoff opponents both these last two WC cycles, I agree with others here on BS that a WC without Italy wouldn't feel quite right. So... go Italia?!
So no Netherlands, United States, Chile, Ghana, Ivory Coast or Cameroon. And Italy? The world is getting crazier every day. I knew that Leonardo DiCaprio shouldn't have been given the Oscar....
Oh my! I'm looking at my live score feed, and Italy v Sweden is still 0-0 81 minutes in. We're in for an interesting finale... If Italy doesn't do something in the next 9 minutes + stoppage time, we'll be talking about this for years...
