I honestly can't think of a high-profile player banned for several months for this aside from Maradona

From the players mentioned here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doping_in_association_football only Adrian Mutu stands out.

I hope this means something. It'd be an absolute tragedy if he's banned for the World Cup.

    you mean specifically for cocaine?

cause hasnt Edgar Davids and Jaap Stam been banned for other substances in the past?

A quick Google search tells me Stam got 4 months. Couldn't get Davids' time.

An absolute nightmare scenario is for Guerrero to miss the World Cup because of this. But they'd have to give him over 7+ months for that to happen and I can't think of the last big-name (or even medium name) player to get that.

Well they're not big, world renowned names like Guerrero, but both Lucas Martinez Quarta and Camilo Mayada (who has played multiple times for the Uruguayan NT) got 7 month suspensions from FIFA/CONMEBOL after testing positive for the use of diuretics in this year's Libertadores.

We still have to see what Guerrero even tested positive for, but maybe FIFA will want to make an example of him. Plus, if Guerrero actually had something in his system (as is being claimed), it wouldn't really make sense for him to get less time than these guys, who didn't even have an actual, banned substance traced to them.

The whole match is being played in NZ territory. I expected them to park the bus, but this is ridiculous.
    Good luck, Peru!

The one time that NZ actually mounted an attack they got punished for it.
I can see this turnig into a goleada now that NZ needs to look for an equalizer.

El batallón sudamericano ya está completo, para mostrar, otra vez, en el mundial, quiénes somos, dónde se juega el mejor fútbol.

Gracias hermanos por esperarnos y alentarnos

    ¡Arriba Perú!
