    Al Ahli goal was awesome.

I just saw the highlights of the match and it seems it was somewhat violent.

Good for Persepolis. They made us proud. The problem is in next match vs Al Hilal we will have many players sitting on yellow card and have no effective DMF as Kamyabinia got a red card today. I just hope Nourollahi can return on time to join the team. He is the only one who can cover that position for us now.

    Guys celebrating after the match.

Urawa does the miracle and qualifies to semis.

They trailed 1-3 after first, concede early today, but scored four and qualified with 5-4 aggregate win.

I think there will be like 15 goals in their tie with Shanghai and it will be great chance for Hulk to score more than one goal in a game (scored eight in 10 matches, but never two or more, really amazing feat).

The match between Persepolis and Al Hilal will be great. Although Persepolis is in a good shape we might lose this match. I think Al Hilal is a worthy opponent for us and not playing in Iran is a big disadvantage for us. Hopefully the political tension will fade away and once again we can watch Iranian and Saudi clubs playing at Iranian and Saudi soil.

The injury of our captain Hosseini, suspension of Ansari and Kamyabinia and the timing which has conflict with Iranian national team camp and friendlies on October reduces our chances in this match, IMO. We have already had a good season and a good run on ACL, if we can go home with a trophy that will be awesome, otherwise, I still thank our coach and players for this year. They played very good and achieved what I had expected. :)

May the best team advance to final. Good luck to Saudi, Chinese and Japanese teams.

It is rumored that Mehdi Taremi, top goal scorer of Persepolis, can not accompany the team because he is suspended for 4 months by fifa for his contract. Apparently a Turkish club had some sort of minor contract with him before he joined Persepolis for second time. If it is true then Persepolis will be in a worse position.

Looks like the Saudis' dirty Arab money did the trick again at the FIFA, and Persepolis' best player and top scorer Mehdi Taremi gets suddenly suspended just days before the ACL semi-final, for some transfer-related bullshit that happened two years ago. The suspicious timing is so perfectly set up that Persepolis can't even appeal the decision in time for the match next week.

Hopefully Persepolis still humiliates these cheating dirty sons of Saud on Tuesday.

It was Taremi's and his agent's fault and they will face the consequence of their action but the timing of the verdict is very strange indeed.

What an embarrassing display by Persepolis. I guess with the last-minute Mehdi Taremi controversy/suspension, and 4 of their starting defenders and midfielders already being injured and suspended, you couldn't really ask too much from them. But they could at least play smarter footballl to keep the score 0-1 or 0-2 and keep their hopes alive for the second leg , when some of their missing starters return. But they risked it all after the first goal and now they pretty much have no hopes going into the second leg.

This is club football and an Al Hilal side with 10 Saudi national team players and 4 multi-million dollar imports, defeated a depleted Persepolis side with only 2 Iran national team players. Your best player today was a Syrian. 90% of your goals have been assisted and scored by non-Saudi players you spend millions of dollars on. Without the mercenaries, your club teams would be as mediocre as your national team. Not to mention that every single one of your national team players is playing in Saudi Arabia for clubs like Al Hilal, while 90% of Iran's national team players are playing in Europe. So yeah, try again.

They have achieved #1 status in Asia at the national level for 3 years running now, and set a new record at the WCQs, which is something Saudis can only dream of.

Nobody has stopped Iranian clubs from spending millions on token European and South American stars, but why would they spend millions on such players, when we can develop even better players and export them to Europe.

Have you ever asked yourself why Iran has the upper hand versus Saudis Arabia in not just football and sports in general, but also culture, industry, science and technology? Simply because the Iranian mentality is centred on and values self-sufficiency and development, while Saudi mentality is all about buying glory and short-term gains.

Do not pour salt on his wounds. All in all we knew Al Hilal will be the better team. It is also worth mentioning our best forward,, Mehdi Taremi who scored 7 goals for us in this ACL competition and became top goal scorer of IPL for past 2 years, was handed a 4 month ban from Fifa for his agent messing up his contract. That had a big impact on our offensive play and final result.

Our Captain Hosseini is also injured and Ansari our second best CB/LB was suspended. Our main DM, Kamal Kamyabinia was also suspended because of last match red card his received. Our goal keeper Beiranvand broke his hand some months ago and rushed his recovery so his reflexes has been shaky ever since even for our national team and lPL matches. He has become an injury prone player now. I am pretty much sure that our GK will lose his position as #1 in NT and in Persepolis with his current condition and lack of form.

We have 5 NT players but 3 of them could not play in this match
    Hosseini (Injured)
Ansari (Suspended on two yellow cards)
    Amiri
    Beiranvand
    Taremi (Banned by Fifa)

About why we can not hire good quality players:
Persepolis has had awful and corrupted managers for about 8-9 years who embezzled money from club and caused a huge debt and several cases of unpaid contracts to foreign mangers and players. That is why now that Persepolis is somewhat functioning better, they are paying the old debt little by little, consequently there is not enough budget to hire top quality players from abroad. The owner of Persepolis also does not provided them with enough resources to boost up the team squad. That is all we have got for now. We just paid 2 million dollar debt + fines to a former Portuguese manager and his assistants and cases after cases are coming up!:whistling: This will dry our resources as soon as we get something from AFC or our sponsors.

Good luck to Al Hilal team. They played better and took advantage of our defense line's mistakes very good. In first half Al Hilal was obviously the better team all over and 2-0 was well deserved. Second half Persepolis went all out and played better but we gave up our defense line and Al Hilal capitalized on the counter attacks. I think the fair result based on possession and opportunities was 2-0 for Al Hilal.

The scoreline could have been at least 6-0. Iranian players seem to have "Saudi-phobia". They always struggle against Saudi Arabia both at club and national team level. The rerise of Saudi Arabia as an Asian football power is a nightmare for Iran.

There is no doubt the both teams are among the best in West Asia. But Persepolis did not show up last night. Indeed the score could have easily been 8-0. Worst defense I've seen from an Iranian team. On the other hand, Hilal played one of their best and smartest matches in years even though they were missing players such as the star Nawaf Al-Abed.
It's not over, another match will be played after 3 weeks. And we have witnessed similar upsets like the chinese derby in the quarter finals a couple of weeks ago. So who knows? For sure Hilal must not be complacent.

I don't see Hilal falling from such a high position and loosing the second leg. And also the return leg in Muscat which is also a neutral you can expect another win for Hilal by a slight margin..

I won't count the second leg as easy match. Persepolis comes for revenge for sure and two more NT players who are both our CBs will come back and boost our defense line. I predict a draw or a 1-0 win for Persepolis, but it doesn't change the final outcome. If we at least had our top goal scorer, Mehdi Taremi in first match, I bet we wouldn't end up losing that match. It could have been a draw. Since he was absent we knew we had hard time scoring and everyone was rushing for the goal, so they left the defense wide open which usually won't happen in Persepolis matches.

True. The main reason was that their best two centre-backs (Hosseini and Ansari) were absent due to injury/Suspension. They had only one centre-back (Khalilzadeh) for this match and had to use their right back Mahini in centre-back position for first time.

As I predicted a draw or win for Persepolis. Persepolis was obviously the winner of this second leg match. The Arab referee killed the match and handed over to Al Hilal (arab team) by that BS PK and his constant blatant one sided calls for Al Hilal. AFC should be ashamed of itself for this match. Persepolis could defeat Al Hilal 2-0 or 3-1 in this match and Hilal could still advance with no problem anyway. This whole sham fair play refereeing only happens in Arab Football Confederation and remains a total embarrassment.

I had respect for Al Hilal because of the game plan and level of football but I lost my left over hope for AFC as a fair confederation. It is done. This confederation and its head are just corrupted stooges. Next time please elect someone based on merits and not connection or having royal blood specially if they are from Middle East.
