wups, new page, better include the antecedent...
I watched this yesterday, and I suppose they looked marginally better than against Moldova. It was nice to see Diaz Petterson play and do well. Which has only made me grumpy again about that big international tournament last summer.

The crowd wasn't huge, but some of that could perhaps be at least partially explained by the bucketfuls of rain that kept coming down. After the game, the end-line tv commentators were sporting umbrellas while standing in front of their big round desk, which was visibly wet -- the whole thing looked a little odd. (This is why we don't have desks outside, people.)

Yeah, it was fun to hear. This band's rendition of 'Du gamla du fria' was perhaps a little, shall we say, eclectic, but that adds interest, doesn't it? I'm surprised the betting sites don't have odds listed for 'which horn will hit a bad note next?' and 'when that happens, will it be sharp or flat?'

5282 spectators at Ullevi according to reports. Very good attendance considering this is an early stage Euro qualifier against a low profile team. I wonder if Norway will even get 1000 against Wales next month...

Oh, do you really want me to get started on Magdalena Eriksson? It will be a cold day in hell before I forgive Sundhage for that one.

well seems like a lot of Swedish fans have disappeared from these boards. Guess that's what happens when a cultist type dictator like Lord Zlatan takes over! But it could be kinda good for woso as look how well the NK team(ranked #5) is doing under Uncle Kim? And will be right there with ya when Donald Trump becomes Prez!

but here is something for Swedes to cheer about; Sweden crushing the Kim Little-less. Well as usual, Jacobsson out performances Schelin in the first half with one & an assist. Blackinhaus takes over for the Stick for the 2nd half, but it's the other sub that's way more impresses; Hammerlund scores two glorious goals(last 2). Who the heck is she? Is she part of the 'put the Hammer down' twins of a few years back?

:D She's not one of the Hammer twins, she's plenty younger thankfully, only 21. She was part of the team that won the Euro U19 Championship in 2012. She's not been a big scorer in Damallsvenskan until 2015 when she exploded and was the highest scoring swede. Thankfully Pia Sundhage is finally giving her a chance in the NT.

well it's good that Sweden got a secret weapon/super sub in Hammerlund. Surprisingly Pia's going with 3 fwds, but maybe it was to get Jacobbson more free space while the defense was kept busy with Schough & Schelin? Anyways another great game for Sofia with 2 assists & 1 goal in the just one half of play. Hopefully Pia acknowledges Hammerlund and uses her to good effect at the Olympic qualifiers

and glad to see that Hammerlund got a little 'American Style' soccer in her and just went for goal. Sure beats watching the recent rather boring France/Norway friendly with nobody wanting to take the initiative

For some reason, Team Sweden is at this very moment playing Team Norway, in Spain, where the RAIN is MAINly falling on the PLAyINg field. Seriously, it's a downpour, and they seem to have directly miked Sundhage, whose bellows occasionally drown the commentator. Norway up 2-1 at the half.

Sweden is historical bad right now - only ranked ninth. I hate watching Sweden play tho, if there's one team I don't want to win the Euro's, it's Sweden and Pia

below is the full game replay of Sweden vs Scotland, which I couldn't finish cause it got to be a snooze fest. What I don't get is Pia's reliance on the same old players instead of injecting new blood into the lineup. At forward, Pia's got Rolfo, who had zero goals at her injury plagued season at Bayern Munich & Schelin, who's only the 3rd leading scorer on her Rosengaard club. The starting center mids haven't changed like forever are Seeger & Dullqvist(ok, name change here). Seeger doesn't even start for Lyon, most games. Not sure who the Dull-meister plays for?. Aslani(far-right mid) is having a so-so seasons in England, and all I remember of Schough(far-left mid) is her failed season at BM three years ago and having to go and play in Russia after that. Who their missing is the world's fastest woso player in Jakobsson & one of the best FB's anywhere in Rubinsson. What they also could do is start some of their youth leho won the Euro u19 championship 3 years ago. Blackstenius comes to mind, but Pia prefers her as a sub

I agree with most of this. There are many interesting alternatives in all positions but Pia doesn't try new names even in friendlies. So we are stuck with these until the new coach takes over after the Euros.

Seger dominated that Scotland game completely though. Dullqvist plays for Örebro, a club sitting comfortably at the bottom of Damallsvenskan. Schough is a Pia favourite but probably more important to the team off the field than on it. Rubensson plays centre mid for her club these days.

Jones has made it a habit of trying to take control of the midfield, if anything else but by sheer numbers. Sweden will probably hold back & just try and counter attack. Jackobsson got caught several times by the off sides trap in the Olympic finals. Don't think GE's CB's are as disciplined(as Neid's were) in managing their defense, but does Rolfo & Shelin(still) have the speed to manage swift counter attacks? I think that be the key

Of their real stars Banušić is for some reason not poplar with Pia (I think she refused to play where and how Pia wanted her) so is left out, Netto, Rasmussen and Minde are not Swedish and those are pretty much the four best Linköping players.
Jonna Andersson and Magdalena Eriksson was togteher with Jessica Samuelsson in the Euro WNT.
Player for player Rosengård on paper is better in almost every positions, they just is much worse at preforming in every game.

Lisa Dalhkvist is three years younger and are not as likely to retire, have not heard anything about her doing so.
Nilla Fischer and Hedvig Lindahl is the two that together with Schelin and Seger there was a big question if they was going to retire from the WNT after the Euros (all four are born 83 or 84). I have not seen anything about any decision from either of Nilla or Hedvig.

The new coach first team, Dalhkvist and Schough is cut and both are distressed (so Lisa had no plans to retire) and will need to improve to get back in. Schelin is also passed over but in her case since she is not 100% due to injury and should be back as soon as she is fully recovered.

no 'karlek' for either Hammerlund & Rubensson?, their only 23 & 24 years old. Is Schelin & Dullqvist finally retired? I was thinkin Schelin would be another Wambach, good for maybe the last 15 minutes or so

Schelin is only out because of some neck problems, made it through the Euros on pain killers. Schough, Berglund, Hammarlund and Dullqvist simply not good enough at the moment but noone has retired. Kicking versatile Rubensson out was a bit more surprising but her team is struggling in Damallsvenskan.
