The U-23s are worthless and sticking around to get mop up minutes in the Carabao Crap Cup isn't worth it. Kid needs to settle into first team football and get real, meaningful minutes - even if it's a a few divisions down. His agent needs to work the phones. (wow, that came off snarky as hell. sorry)
He's probably still there because Conte would throw a fit if they loan/sell another midfielder. They've gotten rid of Matic, Loftus-Cheek, and Chalobah, and only brought in Bakayoko. Edit: he's probably already thrown plenty of fits, actually.
The also let Pasalic go on loan. I think, unfortunately, Kyle is just a placeholder until they sign Drinkwater (I don't know why they want to sign him). Once they sign him, I feel like Kyle will go back down to the reserves, and waste another year there. Smh. I hope I'm wrong, but that's the only reasonable thing I can think. I'm pretty sure he's not better than Loftus-Cheek, Pasalic and the host of other central midfielders they let go on loan.
It was a weird situation because Willem admitted from the outset they needed a different type of player than Scott.
I was also thinking it weird that he couldn't catch on with a fairly unglamorous Dutch team last year, but is apparently on the edge of the Chelsea 1st team this year with the season about to start.
I would be pleased to be wrong, but I find it hard to believe that Scott isn't just making up the numbers in preseason.
Ehh think more Hyndman at Rangers than Hyndman at Fulham. For those of you who haven't watched the kid play very often, here is a decent highlight video. He's had better plays than in the video, but it was posted back in November. I thought he had a great season last year, despite not scoring very many goals, he played a huge hand in a great number of their goals.
A video is a small sample size to really evaluate a player but I'll go on a limb by saying his game resembles of Hyndman. He is a small player, slight build that does well is open space, looks to be a little bit faster than Hyndman.
Yep, and what of Kyle Scott?— Ollie Glanvill (@OllieGlanvill) August 10, 2017 sounds as if he may actually stay with the first team for now. He's training with them ahead of their first match, while Lewis Baker and a few others weren't in training with the first team, either due to potential loans or going with the development squad for their match with Man City. Click the link posted, and see the comment thread for additional info.
Lewis Baker has been sent on loan to Boro. This means that, at least for the opening weekend of the premier league, Kyle Scott will be a first team squad member and likely be on the bench. I believe Bakayoko is still coming back from injury so he would likely be the first center midfielder off the bench as well. However, the issues lie when Chelsea sign a new midfielder, like Danny Drinkwater. Will Kyle be able to secure a loan or will he languish away in the PL2?
He still might have a place in the squad. They have 4 competitions, so even if he's not in the main 18, if he's the next CM in the squad, he could play some games.
I'm going to channel my inner LouisianaViking and ask whether Chelsea rates this player? What is his style?
Would be one of the craziest moments in YA history if this kid got on the pitch for Chelsea in a meaningful Premier League match this season!
I think we can do better than Gyau: Johann Smith in the EPL with Bolton. Dude was basically a case study that answers the question of "what if Usain Bolt played soccer?" Kamani Hill made nine appearances in the Bundesliga for Wolfsburg. I still don't know how that happened. Bryan Arguez - never got in a game for DC, but was sold to Hertha at age 19. Started one game immediately after the winter break. Never played for Hertha again.
Here we go! #CHEBUR pic.twitter.com/NOFqkqLdQ6— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) August 12, 2017 Kyle on the bench.
I think he might get some time, too. Fabregas can't really go 90, so we may see Scott get a little game time. I reaaaalllyyy think Conte likes Scott's game as an understudy to someone like Cesc. Scott is a quality passer, and can control the tempo (a lot of people around the club and a few of his squad mates have called him little Modric). He's got a little pace, and has filled out a bit over the last year. I think he will surprise a few on this board that haven't watched him play too often....mainly because they have a life and I utilize my 3 screens at the office to the fullest extent.
Alvaro Morata, along with Charly Musonda and Kyle Scott, is warming up down below us. #CHEBUR— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) August 12, 2017 It can't be.. can it???
