do you think this PDL playoff match will possibly sell-out as well?

I doubt it because, the Eagles have never really been a great draw and, the interest in Indy has cooled down at the new venue already. Until we get someone who is able to pump some real money (and interest) into the game, we'll be that black sheep.

I think that I read the Eagles drew nearly 1.200 to this match???
They host the PDL final with a 3pm kickoff...should be interesting if they can draw even more.

Sucks knowing the city is mostly being left out of the majors but, I hope this is a sign that this club can make a turn around and find a decent following in the city. Charlotte sports fans are fickle, we don't support the unknown and we barely support the teams we have always had (unless they are winning a lot). Maybe a better investor will come through for phase 2 of expansion and invest in this club the way Malik did the Railhawks. What sucks is that, if Charlotte had an investor make the moves Malik made in Raleigh then, we would be a lock based on location alone.

    >I am not from Carolina and don't know the soccer scene other than the followings of the NCAA teams of the area over the years. Do we really think the success of both mens and women's NCAA teams can translate into a well supported MLS team? My first thought is there have been years of students attending NCAA games and maybe played themselves. If they stay and live in Carolina and then have kids etc. , will their interest in soccer go to the next level and supporting a pro team ?
    >Another random. I like the project proposed for downtown Raleigh, if you include all the development around the site.
If Charlotte has NFL & NBA, Raleigh can have NHL & MLS and i would think, the NWSL. Would seem to spread the all important sports dollars around the state.
    Another random thought part 2.
    >Would it work if Raleigh got MLS, made Charlotte Independence its USL affiliate and then the Eagles its PDL u-23 team? Then put the academy program under the U23 level and you would literally have your entire soccer pyramid in one state, a state that very well could be a producer of soccer talent.

The only issue with Raleigh is that Raleigh is not really what it claims to be, it is a large college town and hardly supports the team it has (The Canes) even in their championship season the Canes had mid level attendance. The Hornets are similar but the issue there has always been earning back fans who were burned by the removal of the original team, from the departure of the OG Hornets to the arrival of the Bob's, everybody felt a way about the NBA. I think Charlotte would make a better major league city for all sports due to it's centralized location and dependence on corporations rather than universities but I don't have the money to call the shots. At this point, I'd be cool with Raleigh over any other Southern city not named Miami (Nashville and Tampa).

Interesting. If they were in Greensboro, they would be in Carolina Dynamo country.

It sucks because, with every detail that comes through the dripping faucet that is the Charlotte MLS expansion bid, the more obvious it becomes that the city & county are the biggest hurdles to clear in getting a stadium & team.

I believe season ticket holders get in free...

last night a PDL team came in and kicked our ass - scored 2 in the first 5 minutes and we never recovered. A shout out to the few fans that were there on a very stormy night; one guy bought beers for the visiting players on the bench and I noticed about 20 fans cheering the opposition off at the end of the game - very classy!
