Good to know that Claudio Ranieri among a candidates for the Nantes job, I actually quite like him. ^^ In other news, Mathieu Valbuena has left Lyon and is joining Turkish side Fenerbahçe.

Known he would be sold this summer as JMA announced to towards the end of the season. What kills me is that it's quite clear there isn't a plan to replace him. Grenier! FFS he can't stay healthy for more than a month. Go after a bigger name with that money.
With both of Corentin Tolisso and Mathieu Valbuena leaving Lyon, and Alexandre Lacazette should be follow suit in their footsteps, Lyon would need some major firepower reinforcement this summer !
I honestly think that he was the second best performer/player for Lyon last term just after Lacazette.
Tolisso absolutely was and I'd argue has more value to Laca. I'm actually on the side that I think his fee was too low.

You're right, Maxime Gonalons is close to leaving Lyon and will be joining Roma soon, the France international's agent has announced.
Marseille and Lyon different transfer strategies. Lyon focusing on younger players who potentially have big resale value and Marseille focusing on veterans and to win now. (Germain, Rami, Luis Gustavo, Bacca, Mandanda.)
Pretty excited for this season in Ligue 1! Obviously always disappointed to see the big names leave but to be expected. Excited about the new signings. Would love to see a big name like Neymar come to PSG. Marseille have splashed some cash they could be fun to see. I like the additions of Tielemens/Saint-Maximin for Monaco. Plus Angers could challenge for Europe with this roster. Lyon have been depeleted out many big names but this youth group they may be fun to watch
I assume OL isn't spending a lot of money because they are still paying off their stadium for years to come.

Crazy money for Ligue 1, ouch on the selling spree this summer transfer. I guess Lyon and Monaco must have money and no excuses not to at least buy in some players this season now. Benjamin Mendy - £52 million (To Man City) Bernardo Silva - £43 million (To Man City) Tiemoue Bakayoko - £40 million (To Chelsea) Alexandre Lacazette - £52 million (To Arsenal) Corentin Tolisso - £35 million (To FC Bayern)
Think Nice were the big winners so far. They may be able to capitalize on Monaco and O'L losing key players. PSG have the money and will out spend everyone.
Had no idea that Bastia were in so much trouble, but after they finished dead last they were sent down to Championnat National because of financial issues. They had some investors who were interested in putting money into the club, but were only going to do it if they would be allowed to be added back into Ligue 2, but it appears that they won't be allowed. Not sure what will happen to them next, but I can't remember the last time a French team went from the top flight immediately down to the third tier like that.
I sorta disagree. I thought the new owners would inject lots of money into the club and the prez already said what their budget will be this season and its not that much different from last year.
I think maybe over 10 years ago Toulouse went down from top flight to National. Before Sadran got there.
From the transfer market perspective, you're absolutely right. Nice haven't done much of anything. But the core of their squad is mostly intact and with Monaco and O'L being pillaged they look to be sitting in a good spot.
