Shin Tae-yong will most likely get shoved back to the U-23 NT post.

The manager announcement has been postponed. They will take their time with naming a manager, and thus, an interim coach will take over for the upcoming qualifiers.

Jung Jung-yong, current U-18 manager, will be the care-taker coach for the upcoming U-23 Asian Championship qualifiers.

Already shifting Jung Jung-yong around like they did with Shin Tae-yong, but as the caretaker for the qualifications I do not oppose.

Miss the likes of Kim Min Jae, Jang Yun Ho, Han Chan Hee, etc.
Fortunately Kim Jin Ya and Hwang In Beom are part of that team now.
The absence of the Barca boys were obvious. We should be able to get through without them.

I had imagined most of the K Leaguers would have been excluded because the clubs wouldnt have let them like Kim Min-jae & Jang Yun-ho of Jeonbuk, Han Seung-kyu of Ulsan, Hwang duo of FC Seoul, Lee Gwang-hyeok & Kang Hyun-moo of Pohang, and so on.

But wth is Hwang In-beom? lol. Hwang In-beom is probably more important to Daejeon Citizens than any one of the others mentioned above are to their respective clubs.
Im sure Kim Shin of Bucheon & Park Myung-soo of Gyeongnam would have gotten the call but declined by their clubs (seeing as other K League Challenge players are there) but why wasnt Hwang In-beom declined lol.

Wait this is a pretty useless tournament because it's not the qualifer for the Asian games right?
If so, why the hell is HIB playing in this qualifier???

"백승호와 이승우를 대표팀에 부르는 것도 검토했다. 그러나 본선이 아니라서 굳이 소집하지 않았다. 지금 있는 선수들은 주어진 조건에서 '최상의 선수'(Best of best)들이라고 말해주고 싶다."

Jung Jung-yong stated that he thought about calling up the Barca boys but decided against it since it's not the final tournament but rather the qualifications. He said that the team/players that he's selected are the best of the best.

Asian Games football does not have qualifiers. AFC U-23 Championships has been created only recently to make it as a qualification tournament for the Olympic Games football (of course that was not the only reason).

The first real useful AFC U-23 Championships was in 2016 which was used the four best teams to ticket to Rio games. The Olympic Games qualification process was different prior to the championships (as it used groups over long period of time but it changed to tournament format).

The next AFC U-23 Championships will be held in 2018 in China but this will eventually be meaningless because there is no qualification ticket on the line. And this is the qualifiers we are talking about now.

The one after the next will be AFC U-23 Championships in 2020 will be important as it is used for qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympic games.

There is a deadline and countries just have to hand in their participation. Then the organizers will organize the group structures based on the number of teams participating (there were more participants in Incheon games '14 than Guangzhou games '10). The seedings are based on the previous tournament results, so we are the best team going into the tournament next year :x3:.
As long as the countries are AFC belonging countries and want to participate in it, then it will be fine. Interestingly Kazakhstan plays in the Asian Games but cannot participate in the football games as they dont belong to AFC. And also interestingly, Australian officials participate in the football matches but of course they dont participate in Asian Games.

A hard fought 2-1 comeback victory against Daejeon Korail today in training match. Hwang In-beom coming on to become the game changer with his ability to hold onto the ball and with his passing and vision.
