I didn't even realize until I checked my phone.

    Will this ever get old?

From what I've seen of him, he should train anywhere and anytime it's offered to him. Got a lot he needs to improve at.

Yes. In my dark heart of hearts, I would enjoy watching him fail.

But I am interested in following his progress.

On the contrary I find myself rooting for the kid just to spite those on BS.

After actually seeing him play for the first time at the championships last month I'm doubling down on that.

I get why people root against him. I was skeptical and thought Vom Steeg and Marcinkowski had out-performed Klinsmann at the collegiate level and thus should be ahead of him on the depth chart of the U20s.

But the kid did pretty well in qualifying for the US. Not great but no huge gaffes, either and you can't argue with the results (even if they were largely due to the guys in front of him). He's one of ours, he's repped our colors and won a trophy and a WC qualification doing so and for that he has my support.

He's also, as I've said on other threads, playing in the best program for GKs in college soccer so his mentorship is top shelf. Combine that with his athletic pedigree and it shouldn't be a huge surprise if he does well or at least proves he deserved all his call-ups and wasn't just getting them because of his old man.

I think for a lot of people it was him mocking LD when he didn't make the WC squad that made people not like Klinsmann.

    1. From what I've seen I haven't rated him that highly
    2. Mocking LD is not cool
    3. LD being left off the WC roster was the worst omission on any USMNT roster in the history of the USMNT... glaringly obvious LD was a level above the other wingers selected... Davis, Zusi and Bedoya

Jonathan should be judged on his talents and his play not his dad

    I don't.

Full grown adults holding a tweet from a then 17 yr old against him for years suggests the problem is with the adults.

Is there any news that he was at Stuttgart looking for a contract, got denied, and then moved to Everton to see if he can find a club?

It will be interesting to see where he ends up. If he gets in a good situation, he can really improve.

As for the tweet. Anyone who does not have an adolescent attitude should/would have gotten over if by January 2015

Germany legend Jürgen Klinsmann has revealed that his son, Jonathan, would like to join the Bundesliga's all-star cast in the not too distant future.

"He wants to play in the Bundesliga or another top league," Klinsmann said of his shot-stopping progeny. "Obviously he has contacts in Germany, but he'll have to see what the best sporting decision is for him. He's certainly happy to jump in at the deep end."

I think his tape has earned him a shot and we can all agree on that. Did he benefit from daddy's connections? Sure but we all benefited from our relationships and connections in some way or another so if that got him opportunities others missed out on earlier and fast tracked him to a better position then that's just the way it is and has always been. His play vs. Venezuela earned him some capital. In fact, what he did should compare favorably to what Howard did vs. Belgium in WC2014.

What? Not even comparable and I'm certainly no Klinsmann critic.
