Since the preparations for the new season are kicking off with a lot of action and it looks like Bosz is leaving this seems like the right time to start a new thread. If anyone thinks of a better title then that cool with me.

Most important news items of the last few days:

Huntelaar in on a free transfer:

17 year old Victor Jensen in for 3.5 million:

And of course Bild reports that Dortmund are paying the €5 million that Ajax wants for Peter Bosz:

Looks like it is a done deal with Bosz going to Dortmund. Salary is €3.5M/year. Let's see who van der Sar and Overmars think is best to run the club. Will they go for an established first team manager or promote Marcel Keizer?

  4. Why not Jaap Stam? He played very Dutch football with his team. At first his players werenot convinced about the Dutch way, but he turned them over.

Stam is the current manager of Reading.
I can't see him leaving there

Doubtful that he would and doubtful that Ajax management want him. Erik ten Hag has also been mentioned as a possibility. He might be a good 'Dutch' choice.

Ten Hag is a good choice. Shame Bosz has to leave after only 1 season. In most cases, for players & coaches, they really hit it off from the 2nd season !

Don't like any of the names mentioned. I'd give Keizer a shot.

That's my feeling as well. He had a good year with Jong Ajax and has managed teams in the Jupiter League. I save perhaps a dozen Jong Ajax matches via Internet streams and they really moved the ball around with speed and purpose. If this is the kind of football he wants to play with the senior team then I am all for it. I just don't know what the Ajax Board is thinking.

Isn't Frank De Boer free ?

  13. Though he has been doing good things with YoungA, one shouldnot forget that the wins he made against Jupiler clubs were with alot of players that are first team selection. The moment he was left with real young players against strong teams, they got pounded. One of those matches ended in a 5-0 defeat. I forgot against whom.
Second point to consider is that it's nice to coach against youth teams or Jupi clubs, but as far as I know has no experience at all tactically on a high level. not as a coach and not as a player.
So to throw him in at a demanding post like Ajax 1, both from supporters as from opposition Ajax will face in Eredivisie and Europe, is asking for trouble.
Jaap Stam is in both points superior to Keizer.
But of course I would love to see Marcel Keizer take the helm instead of Jaap Stam!!

yes, the did suffer a couple of losses like that but they also beat some of the top teams, most of the time with a makeshift defense. Most of the players that he used were not first team players. The only one who regularly played was Cassiera and he wasn't all that good. Occasionally he would have a player who needed some game time. Once van de Beek became the go to MF sub, he was not in the Jong lineup; same with de Ligt.

Did you watch any Jong Ajax matches? Do you know what tactics he employed?
Why is Jaap Stam superior. He has had one season in the English 2nd Division and could not win promotion. Other than that he was nothing more than an assistant within the youth rank at Ajax. The Ajax head job will be challenging for anyone.

EDIT ADDED: Don't forget de Boer was promoted straight from the youth ranks and led the team to four straight championships.

So was Louis van Gaal. Many coaches have been successful in their first few seasons of coaching. And not all of them have had high level experience as a player either.

Stam would be a bad choice, he doesn't get it. Made really bad choices when he was Jong Ajax coach. Favored the boring physical players over the technical players.

What makes you guys think Stam would leave Reading for Ajax??
They did very well in the CSL this year.

Unless Ajax offer him a lot more money I cant see him leaving there

I haven't looked at it too closely, but if I recall Ten Hag has a similar view on football as Bosz. Utrecht has played good football at times. Don't see many other candidates. De Boer back would be a nightmare.

^^^Maybe they will look into Tuchel's availability now that he is out from Dortmund!:D

  20. But he had the benefit of having played CL matches under top coaches with the best clubs of those days in Europe. That's the difference.

  21. The buy out lump sum for Bosz only lasts for one season for him;)

  22. It's amazing to learn the reason why Bosz left Ajax. He was continually obstructed by the others in the coaching staff.
"Zijn vertrek bij Ajax komt door een onwerkbare situatie in de staf. Bosz en assistent Hendrie Krüzen stonden lijnrecht tegenover Dennis Bergkamp, Hennie Spijkerman, Carlo l'Ami en Bjorn Rekelhof."
"His departure from Ajax was because of an unworkable situation in the staff. Bosz and his assistent Hendrie Krüzen were head on against Dennis Bergkamp, Hennie Spijkerman, Carlo l'Ami and Bjorn Rekelhof."
It seems that Bosz, after a season long swallowing obstruction gave vd Sar the choice "they go or I go". Supporters that were the last few days demanding the head of Overmars, because of the departure of Bosz now know who they really need to target. After Jonk the "Gang of 4" now ousted another JC style coach.

^^^^You are surprised at this? Look at the disarray at your own club until they finally figured things out several years ago.

How was he obstructed? You've said hardly anything in that piece you wrote there.

Well, the disarray with us was financially only. Not on footballing matters. We knew how we wanted to play with Wim Jansen as the guardian of true football. Lacked the money to do it with quality players then, but not the Ajax disarray with Jonk troubles and management fighting each other
    .
Seems like the U-turn soccerfans have grabbed power again.
