February 2018. My best guess is that CONCACAF will let the CONCAleague run its course and conduct the CCL draw in November.

An update on the last vacancy: Toronto broke Ottawa 4-0, while Montreal ended up overcoming Vancouver by the skin of their teeth, winning the series 5-4 on aggregate. Thus, Canada's berth in the 2018 CCL will come down to the following games:

Impact de Montréal vs. Toronto FC, June 21

Toronto FC vs. Impact de Montréal, June 27

Toronto FC vs. Impact de Montréal, August 9 (if Montreal wins the 2017 Voyageurs' Cup)

Toronto FC wins the Canadian Championship!

They will represent Canada at the 2017-2018 CONCACAF Champions League

PS: Best rivalry in MLS...by a mile

@Liga MX: Good luck stopping Giovinco!
    :p

I've been tryin' to tell these people :coffee:

So the only things left to determine for the CCL are 1) the format and 2) the pots for the draw. You'd think CONCACAF would just brazenly throw the Mexican and US teams into one pot and everyone else in the other...but if they're consistent and take previous CCL performance into account, then CAN and CRC1 should absolutely be in Pot 1 at USA3 and USA4's expense.

To this day, I'm still upset that Toronto didn't win the MLS Cup last year. If they had, New York City FC would have qualified (for the 1st time) and would have most likely hosted a CCL leg against a Mexican club at Yankees Stadium. Imagine a CCL match between NYC FC and America or Chivas at Yankees Stadium?! How epic would that have been?! I know this may have been more exciting for New Yorkers but from a Nostalgic standpoint, think about tying it back to Pelé and the friendlies he had there with Santos not mention the NY Cosmos playing a couple of seasons there (Yes, I know that was the old stadium but still). MLS would have marketed the crap out of that. I think at least. And it's gonna be a lot tougher qualifying for it this season (and the next one) as only the MLS Cup Champs and U.S. Open Cup champs for both seasons qualify for 2019. So for this year, it's MLS Cup Champs or bust. ¡Vamos NYC!

It would've been historic...up to now, not a single Mexican team has visited New York (or New England in general) in the CCL era, thanks to NYRB's and the Revs' utter futility. Then again, the first US club to win in Mexico was none other than NY Hungaria :D

Both in terms of the score and the 4,000 attendance, New England 0-4 Joe Public in the 2008-2009 qualifying round was a horrible game. At least the Red Bulls were eliminated by MLS clubs in their last two CCLs.

Well, CONCAagents, yall took my suggestion for the name of the CONCALeague, here is my suggestion for the CCL format:

Seed according to PPG in league competition only, for the 2017 calendar year. Seed 8 teams based on 2017 PPG, the top 7 choose which 1st round opponent they want. Last teams remaining face each other with higher seed getting HFA.

This includes playoff games, No Cup games, Just regular season fixtures and playoffs. Don't include PKSOs if a playoff game comes to that.

This way, a team like Police FC can be the #1 seed and select Walter Ferreti in the 1st round, while maybe America and GDL face off in the 1st round. This gives teams an extra incentive to do better in their domestic season, and can cause craziness. So why not, it's something different and interesting.

Nerd point: New York is a mid-Atlantic state; it's not part of New England. Same with New Jersey.

And the CCL lineup is set: Olimpia emerged from CONCAleague drudgery by winning 1-0 in Costa Rica to force penalties, then hold their nerve while Santos de Guápiles' rookie jitters got to them.

Next up: finding out when the CCL draw is going to happen, what the two pots will be and if the CCL will have the same setup as the CL (i.e. no extra time, order of games in semis and Final based on performance in previous rounds).

They better have overtime. It's bad enough that the cwc allows a 4th sub, we don't need the ccl to be bush league.

Would you be ok with your league's playoffs not having OT

As far as Cup America, I've been in disagreement with no OT, at least for the real ones, not the exhibition 2016 version.
