Gedion and Green seem very similar in that the only clubs they have been a part of are super clubs; Arsenal and Munich. Neither one seem to know how to or like to fight for mins because they never had too. They were never going to make the first team with either of those clubs with meaningful mins in games that matter. It seems like on loans it didn't matter because in a couple of months they wouldn't be there anymore anyway. Green seems to be struggling because he no longer has that safety net. Gedion seems like it doesn't matter because at the end of the day he is still a Gunner. Both have a good upside they just need to get over that hump.
>super club >Arsenal >sixth in the league (I get where you're coming from but for me the super club bracket is much smaller than the big club bracket and Arsenal are in the latter)
On the bench: Reservespelers: De Fockert, Oomen, Resida, Röseler, Receveur, Dekker, Hune, Tashima, Respen, Bezzat, Korkmaz en Zelalem. #fcevvv— VVV-Venlo (@VVVVenlo) April 21, 2017
Yawn...... another game, another bench. 12 players on the bench, that's crazy. Promotion is clinched..
Well, kind of ignores the Gers days, but I do think that GZ has to find a way to make himself more useful to whatever club takes him.
ouch... and that is also due to the quality of the existing U20 midfield...but darn is that a tough pill to swallow given the super high expectations we have for GZ.
This is one of the issues of projecting talent/prospects. Never know what's between the ears. That's what sets Pulisic apart from so many, his mental strength and ambition is light years ahead of others as well as his reading of the game. For all their potential, neither Gedioff or Green seem to have the "it" factor. Still time to change that but tick tock.
FT tied 0-0. One sub, not GZ. VVV played with a man up since 60', and has just been knocking the ball around. Probably 85% possession. This is GZ's wheelhouse, but not to be today. They are celebrating with the fans, my guess is they clinched promotion last week and the league this week. (waiting to see if Gedion is "passionately celebrating" with his teammates as they breakout the champagne on the field.) Why did i just watch this game..i'll never get that 90 minutes of my life back.
Double boo for having to encounter that particular form of gloating from him across multiple threads in just the past few minutes.
I get the frustration, but don't you guys think there is a little bit of over reacting going on in here? I watched him play 15 mins last week and looked like a talented player who struggled finishing. I hope I'm not wrong but don't see how he doesn't start for u20s. He's by far the best possession oriented player we have. We play with 3 in the midfield, have a strong defense and wing players. It seems like a possession oriented #8 is exactly what we need.
I prefer a "steady as she goes" approach. The game by game swings are too much for me. Here's Gedi 11 months ago... seems like he can still turn the corner and be a serviceable player.
Thing is, we were expecting more than "serviceable." And by 20, you're already expected to know how to mesh with the other players in your team.
I meant serviceable at on a team in a top 4 league and the USMNT. Have we ever had a 20 yo Central mid playing at a high level? Bradley in the eridivisie is the best. Jones maybe a few Bundesliga games. O'Brien was 21 when loaned out and Reyna was like 22.
