Who knows how they'll do it this year... in 2013, they did an official supporters club sale but it was also public for anybody to get thru USSF for $15. I bought mine without using my supporter info at all.
While the US Soccer schedule page still does not list a venue (http://www.ussoccer.com/schedule-tickets), this article, posted yesterday on the website, says that the match is at Estadio Azteca (http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...nt-mexico-estadio-azteca-world-cup-qualifying). I am trying to get clarification from my contact at US Soccer via email. Here's the response: "All of the information we have points to Azteca and we are working off the match being played there. However, nothing has been confirmed by the Mexico Federation." So, probably, but not definitely, at Azteca.
In 2013 I bought my tickets over the phone through the Mexican Ticketmaster, (no online sales and very difficult with my broken Spanish) then picked them up at the Liverpool department store when got to Mexico. If you wear USA gear it doesn't matter where your seat is you will be put into the AO section partly for your safety and party for convenience for the security in the stadium
Im trying to make this trip without taking any days off work, any idea if a 12:20am flight out Monday morning is cutting it too close if I go to the airport straight from the game?
So ussoccer.com now lists Azteca. And AO is saying ticket info for their packages is going out next week.
Just got an email about official US Soccer travel packages to Mexico City. Looks like it's official. Also: Members will also have the opportunity to purchase individual tickets to the USA v MEX match in Mexico City. Details on these tickets will be announced at a later date.
Looks like US soccer is going to try to cut into the AO away package game. Just like AO packages, the pricing structure is brutal. The Marriott Reforma for Saturday and Sunday nights is $315 for two nights. That leaves 585$ more dollars. A ticket to the game last cycle was around $20. Don't know what a prematch tailgate in Mexico City is like but in the past those have cost $50 a la carte. Commemorative Souvenir for one of these packages was a US soccer ball. $30? An uber to and from the stadium is $30. Dunno what their private transport options are. Breakfast at the Marriott is 15$ a day. According to tripadvisor there's no wifi in the rooms which seems odd, but free in the lobby. 315 20 50 30 30 30 0 = $475 Which is priced at $900?????
It's ridiculous. Also, AO Twitter telling people individual tickets won't be available. Really hope Official Supporter Club doesn't limit individual tickets to 1 or 2 - I'm going to need 3.
Still have to imagine the AO package is going to be at least about 6-700 a person. I am not buying one of these packages and will just be buying a ticket from scalper if I can't get a ticket directly from US Soccer.
I'm guessing what they mean is that they will not be selling the individual tickets. Which has been the case for a few years now. "Members will also have the opportunity to purchase individual tickets to the USA v MEX match in Mexico City. Details on these tickets will be announced at a later date."
Yeah I know USSF will be selling but here is what AO is saying: 'Mexico tickets will only be apart of either the AO or USSF packages. There just aren't enough available to either of us." and "If you want just tickets you'll have to take your chance with away ticket purchasing through FMF at a later date." Sounds like they're just scaring people into buying their overpriced travel packages imho.
Would someone mind copy/pasting the full US Soccer email regarding ticket packages? I'm not a USSoccer or AO member but will join one or the other to get tickets to this match. Thanks in advance.
Yes, brutal. I'm not sure that the breakfast is included: "Full/Hot Breakfast available at Hotel for each Room Occupant." Even if it is.... Our hotel will be around $20 per day. Someone is making bank on these packages. The travel package information implies a ticket lottery: "Don’t worry about playing the lottery game and guarantee yourself a ticket for the match!" Somehow I doubt the accuracy of any information coming from someone pushing a product, like this travel package, with such a high profit margin. US Soccer did a lottery in 2009. I think everyone won. I skipped it, bought directly from Ticketmaster Mexico, and I think the tickets were a few bucks cheaper. We'll know more next week. Kickoff time? I'd like more certainty than a journalist's tweet before booking a flight with a Sunday late AM arrival. "We are excited to offer U.S. Soccer Members priority access to the USA v MEX away World Cup Qualifier fan travel package June 10-12 in Mexico City. The package includes hotel accommodation, a guaranteed match ticket, transportation to/from the stadium and more! Members will also have the opportunity to purchase individual tickets to the USA v MEX match in Mexico City. Details on these tickets will be announced at a later date. The fan travel package and individual tickets are limited and will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Thank you, U.S. Soccer Membership"
Ok, you know I'm a big AO supporter but those recent tweets of "no one can get individual tix" is just flat out wrong, especially knowing that USSC just said they will open it up to members after the package closes. I get they want to sell the package,..but cmon guys, you can be better than that. Sammers didn't get any, right? Since they didn't have package, but they did confirm USSC will do individual, and put a snide dig at AO's misinformation. Either way, tix will be tight and I need 6. Got 2 free nights (points) at the Marriott Reforma, and am willing to splurge for the transportation a la carte given I have 5 newbies going with me.
I think app remaining tickets are going to go to USSSC members and on the off chance they don't sell all of them then they'll probably just do a general sale.
I suggest that you monitor that website. I've been checking daily for absolute confirmation of the venue and time, which are still uncertain in my mind. My contact at US Soccer and some reddit poster, who portrayed himself as in the know, both said that USSF and AO are proceeding as if the match were at Azteca, but without confirmation from Femexfut, whose different websites give differing information. This one, https://miseleccion.mx/, has no venue information. This one, http://femexfut.org.mx/#/, like the US Soccer website, lists Azteca without a game time. By the way, it looks like TicketmasterMX allows ticket sales to US buyers with retail outlet or venue will call, as it did in 2009, but not in 2013. I checked another event just in case the process of getting tickets from USSF somehow fails.
Thanks for all the info. I'm making the trip with some US and Mexico fans. We got a group of 5-6 going. What's the sub reddit's name that you're looking at?
Bear with me as I am pretty old, so I don't always grasp the social media lingo and am anti-social media, even if I'm here to read and write about soccer and use other platforms for information. Thread (is that the same as sub-reddit?): https://www.reddit.com/r/ussoccer/comments/65eija/it_looks_like_azteca_is_confirmed_for_june_11_wcq/ Post: "It's technically not confirmed. I'm close with a couple AO National guys and they told me that AO is just proceeding as if the game will be at Estadio Azteca but FMF (Mexico) has not confirmed anything. AO works with a travel agency to create travel packages and they can only wait so long until they need to finalize the details and open them up to member registration. FMF are being real dicks right now. Number of tickets available to US Soccer/AO is going to be really limited." Author (user): https://www.reddit.com/user/marqueezy
