There are many plays where I have thought Guzan was less than impressive. That is not near the top of the list. He makes that save, he's a much better keeper than I have ever thought.
Where the fudge else is is Ozil going to go with that shot but the near post. Bad keeping if you ask me at that tight angle to get beat at the near.
Thanks. Caught the highlights and they barely mentioned it. Looks like Guzan will probably get another start on Saturday. 6 games to go and the club's at 24 pts. The next 2 games against Bournemouth/Sunderland are vital. Anything less than 3 pts at both should confirm their relegation.
The Polar Bear will start on Saturday . . . Victor Valdes [ribs] and Grant Leadbitter have been ruled out of the game at Bournemouth on Saturday. #UTB— Ben Dinnery (@BenDinnery) April 20, 2017
Guzan seems to have gotten such derision from his poor season at AV. They were relegated in part due to him, but his critics make it appear as if it was all of his fault. And they seem to forget he had 2 outstanding seasons at AV with 1 below average and 1 (his last) a quite awful season. But surely there are keepers who had a comparable or worse performance across a season.
Wasn't at fault for any of the goals today, two of them happened when they were down to 10 men. However, I can guarantee you El Guzano won't be readily forgotten by the Boro fans. See you in Atlanta, Polar Bear! And see you in the Championship, Boro. Or, actually, not.
They've a match in a few hours. I haven't seen a line-up but I figure it's fair to assume Guzan will be starting.
#Boro XI: Guzan, Chambers, Ayala, Gibson, Friend, Clayton, De Roon, Forshaw, Downing, Stuani, Negredo. #UTB— Middlesbrough FC (@Boro) April 26, 2017
Holding on for dear life! Won 1-0 today, but the final four matches are: v Manchester City (4) @ Chelsea (1) v Southampton (9) @ Liverpool (3) Hope Guzan keeps playing - it's good practice.
Boro (Guzan) & Sunderland (Gooch) are goners. It's between Swansea, Hull & Burnley for the other. BTW, the Swansea fans have gone from blaming Bradley for their predicament, to blaming Americans in general.
His 3rd clean-sheet in 7 PL games this season. Good little stat. Overall his 30th in 150 PL matches. Not surprising since he's played for relegation bait clubs
In fact he's had more clean-sheets this season than he had all of last season for AV. Only 2 last year in 28 PL matches whereas he's had 3 in 6 for Middlesbrough now. Whereas Valdes has 8 clean-sheets in 28 PL matches. Looks like Guzan is set to start this weekend.
