I donot remember if this article has been posted yet Miazga, Exemplary professional from the States: Use google translate http://www.gelderlander.nl/vitesse/matt-miazga-modelprof-uit-de-states~ae295247/ Vitesse-speler Matt Miazga zit in de beenklem bij Kasper Dolberg van Ajax. Go Ahead Eagles. Die is heel erg belangrijk voor Vitesse om bovenin mee te blijven draaien.'' Google translate: In the absence of Maikel van der Werff Matt Miazga Vitesse plays an important role. The American of Polish descent should serve as a crowbar in the Arnhem defense. Lex Lammers 25-02-17, 07:57 Six months he now plays soccer at Vitesse. Miazga, 21 years, is rented by Chelsea to grow in the Netherlands. ,, I like it awfully well here, '' the American said spontaneously. ,, I developed myself at Vitesse. The structure/build up (fsf) has improved. With Vitesse you often really need to make the matches. Opponents often lurk on the counter. So at the tactical level, this is very instructive. '' The ultimate goal is of course the breakthrough at Chelsea, but so far ahead Miazga is not looking. The American is aware that it's possible to achieve beautiful things this season with Vitesse (achieve this season Vitesse beautiful things are). European football. The KNVB Cup. This group can write history. ,, I want to close this season great/at a high note '' says Miazga. ,, I want to be of value to the team. First and only counts the next game. Go Ahead Eagles. That is very important for Vitesse to keep running along with the top. ''

Was he at fault for the prior goal, and if so did the injury look to have contributed? I'm not really worried much about a hammy, so long as it's not completely torn, and properly rested. Otherwise they can impair or nag.
Miazga said to manager Fraser that he wants to play, but feels it in his hamstring. He doesn't want to playat 95%. Don't think it's very bad if you look at his reaction, but let's wait and see.
Miazga's injury is potentially more upsetting than van Wolfswinkel's suspension. Vitesse is still fifth in Eredivisie after losing to Excelsior, still a favorite for a spot in the end-of-season playoffs for Europa League qualification. http://www.onceametro.com/2017/4/16...esse-1-0-loss-to-excelsior-chelsea-loan-usmnt
From the article:http://www.onceametro.com/2017/4/16...esse-1-0-loss-to-excelsior-chelsea-loan-usmnt "After three straight wins in the league, Vitesse was brought back down to earth by a sobering 1-0 loss to Excelsior. It was a defeat De Gelderlander labeled "humiliating": a Dutch Cup finalist with ambitions of playing European competition next season, beaten by a team trying to stay clear of relegation." They donot know that tiny Excelsior is a champions aspiration killer. So this isnot an extraordinary event. Just ask van Gaal what happened at Woudestein the last match of the season they were supposed to clinch the title with a simple win at already relegated Excelsior. And just a month ago Ajac lost two precious points against them, that would have put them 1 point ahead of Feyenoord instead of the other way around. So they are to be taken seriously, otherwise you're going to regret your foolish overconfidence.
I don't think this article by a guy that attended a Vitesse training session got posted in here at the time. It's mostly about Lewis Baker but if you CTRL F Miazga there are a few passages about him in there: http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation....lewis-baker-profile-chelsea-vitesse-loan-army
Though, the reality is, true Dutch talent is rarely cheap. Not that the Dutch pay all the much, but the players know the brass ring is across the Sea or the Rhine or the Ems... They would have to really need a reboot to look to North America as a career move.
i'm sure a few gems in the 2nd division. some that may be overlook by big dutch clubs that MLS could entice. Though probably more work than it's worth. But it's akin to say some of the decent Eastern European players that we have in our league now. MLS is guns blazing for very good South American talent, which I don't blame them for. Though again there is some quality in mid-tier Euro leagues that can be had-more or less- on the cheap.
Many years ago I tried to press the few MLS low-level guys I knew that MLS should become the Ered/Erste of North/Central america. I thought it would be really fun if MLS attracted much of the best young CA/US/Carrib talent as teens and then let them blossom and sell them to Europe for a lot of money. I would have loved to have seen as many of the possible "next big things" gathered in MLS. But somehow these guys thought that they needed more than just me and 4 other guys buying tickets to their games. And look where they are now! oh... ok. So, anyway, I think in 99% of the cases the Dutch kids that would be worth bringing are already IDed by Euro clubs. There are probably a few more from Scandinavia or Baltics, but I'd be pretty impressed by the MLS scout who could find more than a few. If Earnie "moneyball at AZ" Stewart didn't have a list of newborns that might pan out in MLS, I don't know who would.
Excellent point. You mentioned Scandinavia. Quite a few diamonds in the rough there. Comparably. Like good players from their league who are good enough for MLS (and probably wouldn't cost more than 250 K a year). Though damn salary cap. Goes the same with the Hungarian/Serbian players we currently have in the league.
I was going to bring up Serbia. In 2017 if you want good, young, hungry talent at bargain prices, look to the Serbian and Croatian leagues.
