i had a dream that Wood had scored. So I wake up and see the 2-1 scoreline on ESPNFC, I'm actively thinking belief came to reality
What was that for? I didn't say anything remotely critical. Note, I said "MY" sarcasm detector is on hiatus. I could have easily said you were wrong, and left it at that, but I didn't. As for the rest, I just skimmed it, so it didn't register that you had gone to great lengths to translate it. Sorry if you felt I owed you a "rep", but I'm sure I've repped you in the past. Happy?
I didn't know he has USA ties. I liked him a lot before he suffered his horrible injury. That was a fun team with him, lallana (sp) and a bunch of youngsters.
Hamburg confirm contract talks with Bobby Wood, amid reported interest http://www.espnfc.us/story/3107250/...by-wood-amid-reported-premier-league-interest
So he wants €3M/Y. Not bad. EPL would pay that. I hadn't heard of the LC interest but that would be a decent fit and they'd have no problem meeting his wage demands. If HSV wants a €20M buyout clause, suggests there's real interest over his €12M buyout.
Yes it would. According to sources, he is in demand, so HSV must pay him more. But sources do not suggest any other players are likewise in demand, so they do not benefit from that type of upward wage pressure.
Interesting situation for Bobby. Hamburg are traditionally a "large" club in the BL, yet they sit a single point above relegation and have been a disaster for awhile now. And yet they are playing some of the best soccer in the league the 2nd half of this season (testament to how terrible they were the 1st half). I can see the logic in taking a big paycheck and staying put - the odds of relegation seem to be fading and you would think that the higher level of play will carry through to next season. Interesting.
Interesting. Watching them play over te past few weeks I was thinking Bobby would be the perfect replacement for Vardy. but Vardy isn't going anywhere, the team behind him is aging rapidly, and the architect of it all left last year
It's interesting for Wood's point of view and the club's point of view. He still only has 5 goals in the league (and another 4 in the Pokal). We all think he's capable of more than that, especially with a better supporting cast, but from the club's point of view, how much money do you want to sink into a forward who still doesn't have that much of a track record at the Bundesliga level? I guess we'll see how much faith they have in him.
yeah that is a great point. a lot of adoration is toward his potential and how hard he works. They re not so seemingly focused on his low number of goals.
If you've watched him, he could honestly have 8 or 9 goals this season in the league, with a bit of better luck and a better finish or two. They know he's scored 9 goals this season that he pretty much made entirely on his own, and has assisted 4 more goals. He's been their biggest offensive threat, and the interest he has garnered is warranted. They know they can't afford to lose him, and replace him for the same amount of money. Lassoga is done, and the cupboard behind Bobby is pretty bare.
Bobby is being scouted by top clubs and is being offered a new contract now for a reason. 9 goals and a couple of assists across all in-season matches for HAmburg is worth more than 20 MLS goals imo.
