I attended the Macau national team vs HK Pegasus match and watched the first half. The Macau team was mainly on the defense during that period. They were clearly physically inferior to HK Pegasus, especially to HK Pegasus' foreigners like Christian Annan and Travis Major. The Macau midfield could not really link up with the attack and Niki Torrao received very little service. Macao Daily said Leong Ka-Hang didn't play but I was not sure. But whoever that no. 9 was he was not getting much support.

When I left at half time, the score was 2-0 to HK Pegasus and I was expecting a 4-0 result. But both sides made many substitutions and the match ended 2-3 to HK Pegasus.

But having said that, I don't really expect Macau to face strikers as tough as Christian Annan and Travis Major when they face Myanmar and India. I am not familiar with Krygyzstan. I think one very important thing about this Macau team is that they fight to the end. I think and I hope this Macau team can surprise them.

Macao Daily said Leong Ka-Hang didn't play against HK Pegasus, but this #9 surely looks like him.

    Krygyzstan 1:0 Macau

So Macau was not humiliated. I hope they will do better at home. I don't expect them to qualify but I think they can play at this level.

Damn... that pitch looks rough. Anyway, going to Macau the weekend after next (April 7-9) Any good football on during that time?

Good job Macau. They demonstrated teamwork, disciplined defense, and more efficient counter attacks than Hong Kong last night.

To add to Angsa's post, I would recommend the Benfica vs Sporting match. As you can tell by the names of the two clubs, this is close as you will get to a derby in Macau. Benfica are currently top of the table while Sporting are in the relegation zone.

If you're looking for more than just football, the Hong Kong Sevens are going on during the same weekend. Depending on your budget, tickets may or may not be out of your price range but if you're into rugby and can't go, I'm sure every pub in Hong Kong or Macau will have it on.

Ah cool thanks... nah, it's not out of my price range, but is definitely out of my geographic range, as I'm specifically trying to spend the whole day in Macau so won't be going to Hong Kong that day. I've seen the rugby sevens in Dubai and while it's fun, not so much of a fan that I'd seek it out while traveling abroad. Might check out Benfica vs Sporting though... that sounds pretty cool. Will it be a decent crowd do you think?

I have no idea. I would imagine that if they get ~200-300 people there, that's a good crowd by Macanese standards.

If you do go, could you do us a favour and post a few pics? I'm interested in what the crowd size is myself.

I will not get my hopes up. I think even 200-300 people is far too optimistic.

There is nothing on sale inside the stadium, except maybe a vending machine. So do bring your own supplies like drinks etc.

Can anyone help with historic match data for the Macau national team? I'm trying to find full match data (lineups/subs/goals/cards) for the following games:

Macau vs Taiwan (9/8/2006) 0:1 - (Goal to Lee Yu-Shan)

Macau vs Hong Kong (3/6/2006) 0:0 - Interport Cup Match.

Macau vs Hong Kong (19/11/2008) 1:9 (I have only the goalscorers)

Macau vs Hong Kong (15/6/2008) 0:1 (Goal to Wai Chuen So)

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Benfica beat Sporting 9:0 to stay top of the Macau league.

I really think Benfica Macau is too strong for this competition and they should join the HK Premier league next season. With a few good foreigners they should be competitive.

Cool, unfortunately I didn't make the match as I only wound up having really one full day in Macau as it took a lot longer than I expected to get from HK to Macau via ferry. Anyhoo, looks like I didn't miss that close a game anyway.

Macau plays Myanmar tomorrow night at Macau Stadium. The match kicks off at 19:30 and it is free entry. If you want to see Macau football team in action, this is your chance.

Macau have been busy preparing for the Myanmar match tonight. Leading scorer Leong Ka-Hang hopes 2,000 fans will turn up to support the team. It has been a long time since Macau last played a home international, it is also their first home international since finishing second in the AFC Solidarity Cup, so hopefully they will get a decent crowd.

    Macau 0:4 Myanmar

1,200 fans attended the match, not bad for the Macau local football scene.

The most exciting "development" in Macau football in ages.

As an FYI, the team in red is named Development hence the joke.

Benfica Macau demolished Monte Carlo 8-1 to win the Macau FA Cup and completed the league and cup double. The club will once again represent Macau in the AFC Cup, either preliminary round or group stage, the club does not know for certain yet. It seems they will join the group stage and I hope they do. They need more games with foreign clubs to gain experience.

The Macau 11-a-side football season is over, so I hope the Macau FA find some ways to help the players maintain their form, as they prepare for the Asian Cup qualifiers in the autumn.
