I'm sure even JHS and HJH would look different if we had someone like Halilhodzic.

Still better than what we can even produce. Not to mention that we barely beat Myanmar 2-0, and scored only 1 goal vs Thailand in a friendly.

Personal rating about coach and some players :
Stielike = 1. No clear tactic and shitty changes as usual (excepted HKY). We would be better without any coach. Should be sacked ASAP before it is too late.
Kim Jin Su = 2, failed at everyting. Was absolutely lost on the pitch.
Koh Myung Jun = 3, useless and even worse than against China due to Stielike's last innovation.
Son Heung Min = 2, Has been useless for the beggining of the qualifiers, failed to impress once again and wasted every chance He got.

Nam Tae Hee = 6, Has been valuable for many matches now, good ball control but can't do anything more in a broken up midfield.
Han Kook Young = 7, precious interceptions, good positionning and cut off dangerous situations.
Kwon Sun Tae = 7,5, dramatic saves and he saved Stielike's ass at the same time.
Ki Sung Yueng = 9, doing everything on the pitch (captain, coach, midfielder, defender and striker), he held on the team for the whole match. Without him, Korea could have lost.

That's because the KFA were waiting on the results of the Syria match. It's no different from when we lost to Iran last year, Stielike should've been fired then, but the KFA gave him a lifeline and waited for the results from the Uzbekistan match (Which eventually ended in a 2-1 win). They have done the same thing after the loss to China: give Stielike another lifeline and say "There's still Syria match left", 1-0 win tonight, rinse and repeat.

Had we lost or even drew tonight which ultimately means that we're out of the WC, both Stielike and Lee Yong-soo will be stepping down.

Stielike's comments after the match: “우리 조의 모든 경기가 그렇듯 어려운 경기였다.

Not too long ago the JNT were having problems of their own early on into the WCQs, but things quickly turned for the positive with their performances showing that they've been getting their shit together. This just goes to show you how much having a good/decent manager matters.

"지금도 새로운 코칭스태프가 합류해서 설기현-차두리 코치가 많은 일을 해주고 있다. 매 훈련마다 워밍업이 끝나면 기술적, 전술적 부분을 병행해 경기를 푼다. 조금 더 연계 플레이와 마무리가 잘 될 수 있도록 보완하고 가다듬겠다."

He's basically admitting he is incompetent if he says that coaching newbies SKH and CDR are big helps for him.

I haven't seen the game yet but I felt Uli should be sacked regardless of the result today vs Syria (unless Korea won big). Change of morale & perhaps initial boost from manager change will get Korea over the hump. At the same time, even if Uli is sacked or resigns... I have zero confidence in KFA. They are crazy enough to hire.. gasp.. Ahn IS. :ninja::sick:

Listen. Sitelike should be fired. But you are just absolutely reaching here and looking for the stupidest things to hate on the man. He obviously said this so that he can appease the fans that SKH and CHR are big helps and obviously being polite/respectful. As far as we know, Stielike could be lying here but just saying this to look professional.

I also don't believe in Uli wanted Seol KH so he can control everything or whatever. His early interviews had him seeking or asking players what & how they wanted to play (apparently, they all stayed silent). Without knowing Uli side of the story, whomever leaked "Uli wanted full control" could just be trying to save their ass (and KFA) because they failed to hire foreign assistant.

I am just emotional on that matter because the official reason why SKH and CDR got selected over a more experienced one was to "avoid different opinions".
The KFA wants to stick with Stielike because he is a good puppy who does everything they ask him for. And the reason Stielike wanted an inexperienced coach is cause he feared he would be better than himself and that he'd lose his full control.

it doesn't say anything about him wanting "full control" with iron fist or feared his "assistant' might be better than him or whatever. it is nothing but conjecture on your part..

It may not show much in that context, but the rift between him and Ribbeck in 2000 is still sufficient enough to point out that he wants to do things "his way". And, if you're willing to tell me that the past incident doesn't have an affect with his decisions as a manager, then you're wrong.

Then again you're always welcomed to take it for a grain of salt, but in this case, it's pretty clear on Stielike's demands, otherwise we wouldn't be having this problem by now.

well, for one.. I don't have a clue on what happened with Uli & this Ribbeck guy nearly 20 yrs ago.

and yes, i prefer to take shit like this with grain of salt. not even important to point out. im not disputing he should be sacked or whatever atm nor did I ever praised his initial hiring or tactics (i think i was always critical & even stated he was lucky in Asian Cup). i defended Uli based on overall result.. especially compared to previous KNT managers but he failed against China. for me, that was the last straw. however, KFA has a history of not wilting power to anyone. considering how Uli was basic unknown & cheap, imo... he is nothing but a puppet to KFA at the end as well.

It is true that the KFA only want subjects that are willing to obey into their demands, however this is the Lee Yong-soo era we're talking about. Hiddink during 2002 pretty much had things his way, and this was mentioned by the Technical Director himself.

Now, you could say that it was all due to Hiddink being a world class manager coming to Korea for the 2002 WC and everyone had no choice but to bend over, but in Stielike's case, they are giving into his demands simply because Lee Yong-soo is the man in charge of the Technical Committee, and therefore what he did in the past leading up till 2002, he's trying to emulate the same with Stielike.

Chung Mong-kyu also bought into Lee Yong-soo's words, and aside from the business aspect, he has a zero clue on the subject of football.
