I'm not trying to come up with excuses but it is very hard for any team to play in such an adverse environment. There were very loud and anti-Korean fans and protesters that had to be kept under watch by armed police. Can you imagine how violent fans would have reacted if Korea won the game? Maybe Korea lost intentionally for political reasons. Soccer is one thing but it is more important the team came back home safe. I know Korea is far from being a soccer power but there is zero chance to improve if the team is dead. That said, this game was still a must-win for Korea to advance because Syria and Uzbek are more frustrating teams even on neutral or home grounds, while we know that Iran will beat Korea again. Korea will probably end this tourney anywhere from second - fourth place.
You need to spend a little more. Laurent Blanc was a good manager, if he is still available you should approach him.
This country doesn't work like that. One major cultural weakness is a lack of being straightforward honest in all walks of life. The concept of change and adaptation isn't well understood there.
Agreed. As long as Stielike is near the NT, nothing will ever get done. His undeniable bias for players in garbage leagues is the reason why we still have players like HJH and OJS in the lineup. And this was after they conceded so many goals in other qualification matches.
Lol? Stielike is on par with Merkel towards path of destruction. Both need to be sacked at their respective positions!
It's plain and simple It is his fault, he chose the wrong players, out of form and not playing regularly. continuously as welll
Van Marwijk - "It's unfortunate that I wasn't able to become the manager of the KNT" "I had planned to make Korea into a good team." "It's also unfortunate because even through thorough video analysis, I would've been able to fully understand the K-League and Korean Football." "Just because you frequently attend matches doesn't mean that you fully understand football." With these comments alone, you can clearly see that Van Marwijk fully understands the situation and problem. He knows how much of a shit manager Stielike is and how much he's ruining the KNT.
Out of all or most national teams, the performance of Korean players generally correlate strongly with the venue. Before the draw for WC '14, it was already speculated that playing in Brazil was already a strong disadvantage for them. Overall, they tend to be more comfortable and play better in Asia. ( sadder now that they can't even get enough three points there either. ) Aside from team selection and strategies, maybe there is a genetic component to it as well? Soccer ( and anything physical in general ) can be practiced but your body needs to be physiologically rugged enough as well. Good teams play consistently everywhere. Bad teams suck wherever they play or are only decent when they play in countries where the people look like them.
Gotta get rid of the KFA brass, including Chung Mong Kyu, who's essentially been acting as the organization's PR and financial shield. Things won't fundamentally get better until that happens. Any ideas on how someone can make this happen?
All that is true, more so now with current technology. Someone with good knowledge of Korean football ( and a passion or playing FIFA video games. I know games don't represent live soccer but this can be a litmus test for knowing who can be a dedicated armchair coach ) can possibly be the best coach Korea would ever have had.
Getting rid of the bad weeds is one thing, but inserting the proper people is another thing. We really need a competent group to run the FA, one reason why I envy the JFA at times, they get shit done right.
He's even getting criticized by the Chinese media:
No doubt about it. It's going to be extra tough since the KFA fights tooth and nail anytime some outsider tries to win seats.
i cant believe park jisung is our hope for some proper administration in korean soccer. park jisung the type of dude who feed stray raccoons and release roaches found inside his home because he didnt want to kill it. hes way too nice
It's not good reasoning. It's excuse making. A good team almost always is able to put that fuzzy noise behind them and just win. Korea is not a good team. Maybe it's selections, maybe it's the coach, maybe we got a bunch of crybabies on the pitch right now who care more about social media than their actual performance, maybe these guys break too easily and can't play consistently. Whatever it is Make no mistake we suck. Unfortunately we are too deep into this to make any impactful changes so hearing these complaints and excuse making is twice as hard to endure.
This makes me so ********ing mad. We could've had this guy coaching for us but the shitty KFA wanted a yes-man who sucked their dicks and implemented some piece of shit tactics which is supposed to resemble football. This man took the Netherlands to the World Cup finals. Stielke's greatest achievement is promoting the C-League. If he can make Saudi Arabia with a bunch of no-name players into a good team, just imagine what he could've done with the KNT. We will never get far with these fossilized retards running the KFA. Literally, this whole "yes-man" situation and lack of any progress alongside empty promises and words is the most quintessentially Korean ********ing thing in the world.
