I remember that game well. He got thrown out there and proceeded to boss the midfield. If I was on the fence before, at that point I knew the guy will be worldclass.

Still gets underrated, but a fully fit Casemiro is the best classic DM in Europe. Glad he's back, because hes crucial to our team. People who think Llorente should be in his place are getting far ahead of themselves.

Everytime he has a good game we hear how underrated he is, when teams are running rings around us even though he is on the field, nothing, but that's the norm when a player is singled out as "crucial".

I like his character as far as football is concerned for sure, but I don't think he is underrated, he is who he is, personally I am not so sold that he is the answer to our defensive issues, but of course no one player is the answer to that, I am happy for him when he has a good game though he is a player I like.

Maybe he can't do everything by himself all the time. Makes it even more absurd that Llorente would be able to do a better job.

He's a key player for our squad imo. Can we beat bottom 10 teams without him? Of course, but that can be said about any player in our team.

    He's very underrated.

Llorente looks very promising but I wouldn't want to throw him into the wolves just yet. Its an asset to have him behind Casemiro and then maybe even compete for his spot in another season.

Throwing him to the wolves? He's already playing in La Liga and starting week in, week out and putting up performances.

Not to mention his performance against Barca.

Would love to see Llorente and Casemiro together, midfield on lock.

Playing for Alaves vs Real Madrid isn't the same :/

Ok? Ozil played for Bremen before he played for Real Madrid. Isco was at Malaga. James was at Monaco. Marcelo was in Brazil. Higuain played with River Plate. Modric and Bale were at Tottenham. I don't get what the point being made here. Playing for 99% of the clubs out there isn't the same as playing for Real Madrid.

Casemiro was "thrown in" and passed with flying colors. Llorente is good enough to be given a chance as a starter at Madrid.

I don't expect him to be one of Europe's best midfield players by next season, but Llorente couldn't do a better job at laves than he has. If he wouldn't be safely secured with a contract to us, half of Europe would be after him.

Do you seriously not grasp what he is saying? It's not that crazy to suggest easing the guy into the fold next season, especially since we have a young quality starter in his position as it is. There is a big step up from the pressure of playing for a lower level Liga club to Madrid, to be sure. We have the luxury of dictating his transition because of the options already available to us. It's a good situation. I am worried how much he will play though.

Plus, using Marcelo and Higuain as examples for players that made a seamless transition from lower teams is not a good example. It took Higuain 3 seasons to be a useful starter, Marcelo an eternity and a miracle lol.

No I don't grasp what he's saying because he suggested that we bring him back next year and then wait another year before he "competes" for the spot that Casemiro has. That's ridiculous and how talent comes to rot at this club, which is what we've done countless times and most recently with Asensio. If he's good enough to play a big role for this club, then he should play regardless of his age or where he's played the season before or who's here before him. That's the only thing that should matter. Ozil had Kaka ahead of him, but proved he was far superior and took that role from him when he was a similar age to Marcos and played at a club of a similar stature and outside of Spain.

They didn't become world class right away, but Gonzalo was a key reason why we won La Liga that season even though he came in the winter, and was even more vital the year after.

Ozil played in the CL and was a key player in Germany's WC 2010 run, while Kaka was in shit form and missed the majority of Ozil's first season, we shouldnt have the same expectations.

I agree he should have an important role in the team, I am more surprised by those expecting him to displace Casemiro (or play alongside him as a starter). Let him come in and find his level naturally, instead of putting unrealistic expectations on him. He may turn out like Carvajal (who had no RB competition it must be said) and his level warrants him eventually being a full time starter, or he may need to be slowly phased in. We have a world class midfield three, and it wont be easy for him to easily slot in. I hope he doesnt get the Asensio, Illaramendi, Kovacic, etc.. treatment, but we also have to be logical.

No one said he should come in and be an automatic starter. Let his play define his role. He shouldn't be "coddled" or "protected" because he's young or hasn't played at a "big club".

We disagree here, a bit. Coddled is not a word I used, but protecting him and other youngsters from larger pressure and expectations seems wise to me. If everyone keeps going on and on about how he's gonna pop into the first team because of his work at Alaves, then what of when he has a stinker or two in preseason and then some fans/papers start going'" maybe is isn't up to Madrid level yet"? It's happened. For every Higuain there is a Gago, for every Marcelo there is a Pedro Leon, for every Carvajal there is a Portillo or Soldado, etc.....
Nothing at all guarantees success in the Madrid first team so I just hope he treat the kid with patience. Again, if he beats out Casemiro right off top, cool beans. But I'm good with keeping expectations low in his first season with Madrid. Same with Vallejo.

Outstanding game. And there is a lot of room to grow. The ceiling is high for Casemiro.

He should evolve his playing style to the one he had in Sao Paolo. More attacking and shooting like a B2B.

I wouldn't change his game. We need his ball winning and protection of the back four. If he should evolve anything it would be his short passing, first touch, and keeping the ball. He loses the ball too easily when pressured sometimes.

Nah, he won't see a minute of game time if he tries to do that. He should focus on better distributing the ball, especially to Kroos and Modric.
