A great player and a great leader.
Sadly he was not part of WC winning team in 2006, he deserved to captain it.

He had already quit 4 years earlier after he was out jumped by Ahn against Korea. He was still a great player in 2006 but at that point he was 38. I'm sure he wouldn't have done a bad job but as it turned out, the didn't need him in the end.

In part you are right. Though let's not forget his brilliant display in the final of 2007 CL - one more trophy which would deservedly had been raised by Maldini.

cannavaro and nesta would have been starters at CB for sure. maybe after nesta's injury he might have been ahead of materazzi. but, seeing how materazzi played a crucial part in the final (and actually the whole tournament) scoring from that corner and the whole deal with zidane. who knows how it would have played out with maldini in the back instead of him

Still unbelievable to think quite a few morons booed him on his last appearance.

not a word about it. they were DFL in the spring but better in the fall. didn't make the playoffs.

there was a great bit toward the end of the maldini interview when they were talking to alex ferguson too. they asked fergie if he ever tried to buy maldini from milan, and he said, yes, he'd spoken to cesare about it being a possibility. cesare just shook his head no, and that was the end of it. paolo said he dad never told him about the conversation.

he's back. regardless of the title, that tells me he's convinced of elliott's plan. that makes me feel more confident.

Guess his team in Miami along with the entire league folded. I knew that was going to happen.

What are Maldini and Leonardo in charge of exactly?

my understanding is they're in charge of the soccer side of the company. they'll pick players and coaches and build the team.

Paolo Maldini is high risk. Let's hope he will survive.

He's 51 years old. I'm not sure about his health but his age category is higher risk.
