Once again I appreciate CQ being our NT manager. He is several classes above all our coaches and I know if he leaves, we won't get someone at same level or better. IFF and the regime in Iran is corrupted beyond repair and only someone like CQ can work with this situation. I am one of his critique but at the same time I can not forget what he has done for our national team and players. Kudos to you CQ.

Chinese NT is up for serious challenge in march, first wave is south Korean and second wave is Iranian. I predict a total slaughter.

Here is not bad to review for past 4 encounters with S.Korea. It shows our progress under CQ and S.Korea's decline.

Iran vs South Korea 2012 (Tehran WCQs 1-0)

Iran vs South Korea 2013 (Seoul WCQs 1-0)

Iran vs South Korea 2014 (Tehran friendly 1-0)

Iran vs South Korea 2016 (Tehran WCQs 1-0)

Let's shift the focus to next games.

Here is the squad (Only Domestic players) for March, and the Iranian foreign-based players will be added to the team. Out of 19 domestic players, at least 4 of them will be dropped.

    Iran squad (Domestic players):

Goalkeepers: Alireza Beiranvand, Rashid Mazaheri, Mohammadreza Akhbari

Defenders: Vouria Ghafouri, Ramin Rezaeian, Jalal Hosseini, Morteza Pouraliganji, Ezatollah Pourghaz, Mohammad Ansari, Pejman Montazeri

Midfielders: Ehsan Hajsafi, Omid Ebrahimi, Mehdi Torabi, Morteza Tabrizi, Sasan Ansari, Vahid Amiri, Ehsan Pahlevan

    Strikers: Mehdi Taremi, Masoud Ebrahimzadeh

In my opinion, Sasan Ansari, Morteza Tabrizi, and Masoud Ebrahimzadeh were not deserved to be in the list although whoever was in the squad instead of them he would have been a bench player at the best. Vouria Ghafouri will miss the next two games due to injury most likely. IMO Kaveh Rezaei was deserved to be in the list.

I am very happy to see Ehsan Pahlevan in the list.

Regard overseas players, I am just sure the following players will be invited: Milad Mohammadi, Saeid Ezatolahi, Masoud Shojaei, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Sardar Azmoun, Reza Ghoochannejhad, Ashkan Deajagah (He is doubtful for next game due to injury) and Karim Ansarifard. I doubt he invites any other foreign-based player.

The next game is extremely crucial to keep the momentum strong. We have to come with a good result from next game. We will know the results of the other two games before our game. If the results of other two games go in our favor, we have less headache against Qatar but I would not count on it although anything can happen in football. If not, we may be under more pressure. Anyway we must focus on our team to finish the job by ourselves. Whenever It come to Qatar game I am worry. Al though It is very difficult but possible to win and that must be our goal.

Sasan Ansari is well deserved. But injured Torabi, Deja and Ghafouri are not deserved to be on the team. Team is missing Soroush Rafie, Mohsen Mosalman(CQ never invited him), Behnam Barzay, Beit Saeed, Shajaian, Kamyabinia, ... even players like Nourafkan and Moharami can help the team. Kaveh Rezai had been invited to the team before and he could not even score a goal in last round of qualifiers vs teams like Turkmenistan, India, ...

Ghafouri performed very well in last matches for Esteghlal. He misses the next two games due to injury. Danial Mahini from Esteghlal Khuzestan is added to the team because of Ghafouri injury.

Torabi recovered from injury. He played for Saipa in their last game. So fortunately he is not injured.

Regard Sasan Ansari, IMO we had players that were deserved more. Sasan Ansari or whoever was instead of him, he would not have had any chance to play at this point. Most likely he will be one of those 3-4 domestic players who will be dropped from the final squad.

Dejagah will recover around couple days before the next game based on what I heard. He is still an important player for us. Most likely CQ invites him because of either following his treatment process or preparing him at least for second game.

The final squad will be like this most likely:

GK: Alireza Beiranvand, Rashid Mazaheri, Mohammadreza Akhbari

CB: Jalal Hosseini, Pejman Montazeri, Morteza Pouraliganji, Ezzatollah Pourghaz

    RB: Ramin Rezaeian, Danial Mahini

    LB: Milad Mohammadi, Mohammad Ansari

DM: Saeid Ezatolahi, Ehsan Hajsafi, Omid Ebrahimi

    AM: Ashkan Dejagah, Masoud Shojaei

Wingers: Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Mehdi Taremi, Vahid Amiri, Mehdi Torabi

Centre Forwards: Sardar Azmoun, Reza Ghoochannejhad, Karim Ansarifard

    * Pourghaz will be the fourth choice for DM position most likely.

    * CQ attended stadium for Az alkmaar vs. Lyon game. Jahanbakhsh played in AM position in that game. It was not the only game he played in that position for Az alkmaar. So he can be his third choice for AM position.

The following players expected to be dropped from the final list after the friendly game against Iraq: Ehsan Pahlevan, Morteza Tabrizi, Sasan Ansari, and Masoud Ebrahimzadeh

I keep Ehsan Pahlevan and give Sasan Ansari more chance to show his talent. CQ has given that chance to Zohaivi, and Rezai already. If Tabrizi was in good form we could use him. He is tall and can be crucial with headers if he works on that department.

Torabi has just recovered from his injury but his performance has been far from his prior injury performances. I don't think it is a good Idea to use him in any friendly or WCQs but train him and watch his full recovery under CQ and NT doctors. Ghafouri won't make it due to injury. Deja getting out of injury just two days prior our WCQs is not enough to use him in the pitch. That is why I say we have to let him show himself in Wolfsburg then invite him back to the team. Soroush Rafiei or Saman Ghoddos can help us better. I think we need someone to replace Shojai and fill up the void of Ali Karimi in team for us. Since 2012-13 we had not a play maker AMF like Ali Karimi. Soroush Rafiei is the best available choice for us now. CQ was always nagging about not having Soroush due to military service, now that he is free, why he is not invited to the camp!

Ehsan Pahlevan left the camp for two days with permission of CQ due to his marriage celebration. He is one of my favorite IPL players. When Amiri reaches close to his retirement age, Pahlevan is probably the best replacement for LM/LW position.

Kaveh Rezaei was invited only for first leg of India game and the second leg of Turkmenistan game. He played full 90 minutes against Turkmenistan in forward position and wasted one good opportunity to score. He was used as a sub against India in RW position. IMO he deserves more chance.

I agree with you regard Sasan Ansari but I still think he is not national team material. Hope he proves me wrong. Tabrizi was a bench player in Zob Ahan for last a few games. He and Ebrahimzadeh should not have been invited IMO although I expect CQ drops both after the friendly game against Iraq. Torabi recovered from injury completely and can play full 90 minutes. He is technically gifted player and national team material. Even if he is at his peak, he should be invited IMO.

I agree that we have least depth in AM position. The main problem with Rafiei is that he likes to keep the ball longer than the time he should keep. He tries to dribble a lot which disrupts the rhythm of game. If his dribbling skill was near Ali Karimi, I would have been fine with it but he is nowhere near that level. Jahanbakhsh can play in AM position although It is not his ideal position. Hopefully Reza Shekari will be ready when both Dejagah and Shojaei retire. I hope he can develop well.

^ Watch the last Saipa match to know what I am talking about current Torabi's fitness. He needs more time to fully recover. That stupid fakheredini ruined Torabi's chance to shine and transfer to Europe, with that nasty foul.

I watched that game and he was terrible in that game. That match was 9 days ago and his form should be better now. He will get better in TM camp. It is not late for him to go to the Europe yet, but he should do that no later than the end of this season.

Seems like our B team lost to Iraq 1-0. Surprising result tbh, I expected our domestic squad to win comfortably, it's just a friendly thankfully maybe they were experimenting new tactics

We have a tough game ahead vs Qatar but with our full squad and legionnaires it shouldn't be issue to score

It's not underestimating, if you look at Group A Iran are 1st with 11 points and in Group B Iraq are 5th with 3 points. So yes this was a surprising result but congratulations for winning a friendly game.

Not really we know your level and our B team should still win against Iraq in a competitive game, so it's rather surprising to be honest. Altho its not the end of the world they lost by a pen I think and who knows what different tactics they were experimenting.

Most important I am worried about our ranking to lose vs such a lower ranked team, but if we get results in the next WCQ games we should be fine I guess

Funny that you guys seem so surprised given our qualification campaign (where we made life hard for teams like Saudi Arabia and Japan) and got robbed in 2 matches.

+ we denied your Asian Cup SF spot, now your win streak :giggle:

There's no need to start this honestly we don't care as much as them and it means a lot to them. They are happy to win against Iran obviously

We won against teams like Chile and lost to random teams like Kuwait in friendlies in the past :p On to Qatar now, hopefully the inform legionnaires tear them a new one :D

It's only funny to see this happening, given how disrespectful most of you guys are towards us :) First the 2015 Asian Cup and now again.. I thought even your C team was enough to beat us? :p

Anyways that's a very good result for Iraq, GL for your next games ;)

Looks like for now Torabi, Tabrizi, Ebrahimzadeh and D. Mahini have been dropped. I suspect that our final WCQ squad will look similar to the same usual 23. Half of this team at least will be crossed off if I'm not mistaking

Considering the players who CQ invited I think he was experimenting with some new alternative players from PGPL. Because our usual PGPL selection could be stronger in this friendly match. As you guys know our best play maker of the league was missing this match. Including Behnam Barzay and Soroush Rafiei can boost up the creativity of our match a lot. Look at Persepolis and Esteghlal matches when these two players are not in the pitch. Our team is relying too much on legionnaires in CF, wingers, and MF positions. We have all our first 3 choices of CF being absent, our wingers, CAM, DMF and LB were also missing this match. Other than Vahid Amiri as our LW I don't see any regular player in our final third even being invited for the camp. I don't know if Amiri played in this match. We have no info how this went and who were in line up. One thing seems obvious, Beiranvand is our less ready goal keeper who can not save any penalty kick now. He was good as a goal keeper before he broke his hand. Now only Rashid Mazaheri is in form specially for PKs.

I think CQ wanted to test Beiro and see if he is ready for WCQs or not. As a Persepolis fan I know the current quality of our players and Beiranvand and Taremi are not ready for NT. Taremi wastes too much opportunities as CF and Beiranvand looks too shaky in goal. (if you are not convinced yet, watch Persepolis vs Al Rayyan match one more time).

This is also the first time after a long time our team played behind close doors with a rather not convincing line up for some reason. Maybe CQ didn't consider it that important but it still counts in fifa matches. We will see how our team operate in less than a weak in Doha, so I save my breath now and wait.
