Not a good day for Green. Did little, they were losing 0-1 & got replaced early in the second half.

The guy who came in for him scored the tying goal. Ended 1-1.

    From the Stuttgarter Nachrichten:

Julian Green: The US-American, replacing Josip Brekalo in the starting line-up, came first in a difficult initial phase. And often he hesitated a little too long. Later, he found it difficult to implement his speed in successful actions. 4

As Suyuntuy stated above, Daniel Ginczek replaced him in the 58th minute, and scored the tying goal in the 70th.

Stuttgart down 1:0 at half to Furth. Two Stuttgart subs at the 2nd half start, neither is Green.

I don't want to be unduly pessimistic, but it really seems like Green is slowly but surely working his down the depth chart here.

You could be right. There are 5 players for two positions on the left side, and he has some decent competition. He had won a starting role over Asano, then it appears that he lost it to 18yo Josip Brekalo (more recent transfer-in from VfL Wolfsburg). Does he have the talent, and desire to win a starting spot again? We'll see, said the blind man.

Green starts today. Kicker has him lining up at left mid.

Green had a productive 67 minutes of action, repeatedly breaking down the left side and smacking the near post with a signature long-range strike. Stuttgart clearly has the superior talent on display but several mishaps in transition defense, missed sitters and a massive crossbar have conspired against them.

It was a 3-3 draw with Stuttgart's final 2 goals coming after Julian was subbed off. The last goal was a 94th minute equalizing PK.
