Wow, literally no extra time!! Meanwhile HSV facing relegation decided to not even bother against Bayern. They should be embarrassed of themselves.
Bayern vs. Hamburg at the Allianz 2010/11: 6-0 2011/12: 5-0 2012/13: 9-2 2013/14: 3-1 2014/15: 8-0 2015/16: 5-0 2016/17: 8-0. But against Bvb they put up a massive fight.
Great football day. Raphael was MOTM for me. It's amazing the difference when you play him at wingback instead of Schmelzer. Reus and Weigl ran him close. Shocking that the individuals and the team play better when they play in their proper positions.Auba got the goals, which will do his confidence the world of good. Plus another clean sheet. Not bad for such an average collection of players.
My favourite formation is the one that suits the players. I think the 3-4-3 is great for Chelsea and Tottenham. I have said and given reasons many times why Piszczek is an awful choice for wingback. I have said many times why Schmelzer is a bad choice for wingback. Finally Tuchel has stopped playing them there. I still don't think LP is a good choice as right centre back because he is not good enough on the ball and even today he gave it away several times. Durm has the fitness and decent technical ability, but at the top level you need someone who can do more attacking. Gotze and Kagawa have no where to play in the formation, a better team will isolate Sokratis and LP with the ball.
Roman Bürki has the 2nd best save % in the BL so far. His injury cost us a shot at the title this season. In terms of importance, he's our new Lewandowski.
I'm glad Burki is on our team, and I'm glad we stuck by him through his early struggles. But Weidenfeller SUCKS now, he desperately needs to go and we need to acquire a better backup GK. No one fancy, just someone who can do a job without completely sucking. Like Langerak when he was at Dortmund.
Zorc was queried about the contract situation with Weidenfeller. Said they'll talk about it later. I hope it's about asking him taking a non playing role or just getting lost. We will have enough baggage in the squad next year as it is with Toprak joining the ranks.
If Mitch had stayed I think we'd be in much better shape although whoeve is the keeper for the younger squad is apparently decent (don't remember name, but he's supposed to be great with the ball st his feet)
Likely our most complete performance of the year. I also really liked the formation and squad selection - although I would have preferred Passlack over Durm. RG was absolutely brilliant today, and once we have Dahoud at the 8, RG can continue to play that hybrid technical WB role. Reus with the two nutmegs was the icing on an overall great performance.
If there's an opportunity for internal promotion that's ideal, but the fact that he couldn't get on the field while Weidenfeller conceded craptons of goals doesn't recommend him.
I don't know, I feel like people within the club still support Weidi. There's not other explanation for him to still be here otherwise. I love that our club understands the value of loyalty, but at a certain point it needs to stop.
Loyalty needs to be expressed differently though. Zorc needs to sit down with Roman and have a frank conversation with him; "Roman, your performance recently doesn't warrant an extension and, although we can absolutely discuss an off-field role with the club, we won't be renewing your contract".
I agree, hopefully that's what happens, but I could st the same time see a dumb 1 year contract that does nothing but stall the inevitable
I hope this means the end of Schmelzer as an automatic starter. Oh gosh finally. So next year Castro joins Schmelzer as we have Dahoud. And I'd rather see Ginter or LP next to Sokratis than Toprak. Of course I'd also prefer Passlack or Pulisic instead of Durm.
What do you mean by hybrid technical role? He was pretty much an orthodox wingback. Even after yesterday you would still have him back in midfield next week? Tuesday is a different story. Even yesterday where virtually everyone played very well Piszczek and Castro stood out for not being good enough. Durm could be improved upon, but did OK and didn't break down moves the way LP and Castro did. Dembele showed his age and whilst he had brilliant moments his overall game wasn't great. Toprak is better than Piszczek at the back. I am not sure how well he would do in a back three on the right though. Tuchel needs to make a decision what the formation will be. If he wants to play 3-4-3 then he needs to sell Kagawa and Gotze this summer. Ginter will probably go and alongside Toprak he needs to bring in another CB. -------------Burki--------- ---?????-----Sokratis---Bartra----- Passlack---Weigl---(Dahoud)Castro---Raphael -------Dembele---------------Reus-------- --------------------Auba-------------
Something suspect going on there, sure you might expect Bayern to win every time. But 9-2, 8-0 x2, 6-0, and 5-0 x2 in the last 7 meetings. Wtf? That is not normal. How much are they paying Hamburg to be their bitches? Hamburg need to be investigated.
lol. wtf.. that's insane! was wondering what suddenly got Bayern so pumped in that 8-0 demolition but now lookin at those stats explains everything. we comfortably bagged a win v freiburg which is promising. tbh part of me was a tad worried goin into the game, even though my prediction was something like bvb in a low scoring game BUT 0-3 is great roud:
Well I'm just pointing out the data. If I say anything beyond then I'm just purporting conspiracy theory but it's been going on for years now. No other team gets free points from HSV except for Bayern. But saying they pay them is ridiculous, right?
You can play any formation you like, but it does not mean the team play it well. This team will never play a 4-3-3 well without getting two new 8s. Yesterday and the 2nd half of the Hertha match were two of the best performances I have seen this season. Playing Kagawa/Gotze/Dembele/Raphael out of position has led to the players under performing and the formation not working. Gotze or even Kagawa are never going to play at the required level being bit part players. I don't blame either of them this season when they have been asked to play somewhere they can't. It's like blaming Sokratis for playing badly at right back.
How many teams concede 8 (or more) goals to Bayern? How many times have Hamburg been thrashed like that by teams other then Bayern? It is an exceptionally rare scoreline. For it to happen 3 times against the same club, along with a few other high scores, is extremely suspicious. The authorities should look into this very carefully. It is in danger of bringing the BL into disrepute. I hope Hamburg are relegated.
