Omar had a goal called off in the first half because he was a leg ahead of the last defender. The header was a really nice flick that redirected the ball to the near post over the goalkeeper and just under the crossbar. He played a great first half and second half I was counting the amount of cups being thrown by the fans.

He had one play where he made a stupid half-assed tackle and left the striker wide open. His position is 100% concentration, he's making too many little mistakes.

The situation was worse than your description, he completely missed the ball. If you want to go back and count the times he covered for mishaps from Murillo, I'm sure it makes up for it my friend. He does still appear to be completely frustrating with the ball at his feet... I would feel much worse about that if I were you.

You have to admit he is a dime on set pieces? Is he not a gadget player for Pachuca?

Both guys have had a very weak season so far. Definitely agree with the "gadget player" part. In general terms he's the weak link in the duo. I think that given his characteristics the types of mistakes he makes lend themselves to more serious consequences. I can't think of a time where Murillo completely left a player one on one vs the goalkeeper.

BTW this is more of a side comment but Saprissa's #1 goal in every CCL is to beat every Mexican team they face. They usually fail but it's just the way they've always been. Even their social media teams are super aggressive.

Speaking of Omar and Xolos, I really hope he could move there and get more pt. He would be moving closer to family as well, and the American connection is always there. I always get him in career mode on FIFA as well, so that'd be fulfilling my fantasies a bit. Still would be a solid move.

What playing time is he not getting? Omar is a starter for Pachuca. He's played 31 of the 34 regular season games in the last two tournaments (Clausura 2016 and Apertura 2016), in all 8 playoff games they played in that period and 3 of the 4 CCL games in that time. He's also started in all 9 games (well 8 are done, one is currently being played as I type this) they've played thus far in the Clausura 2017 and both CCL games against Saprissa.

Damn, you just made me look really stupid lol. I thought for some reason he wasn't starting as much, guess I just wasn't paying much attention. I'd still like to see the move happen for other reasons, but it seems playing time isn't an issue.

Omar Gonzalez makes happy homecoming for Champions League clash at Dallas

    http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/...appy-homecoming-champions-league-clash-dallas

Long before he won MLS and Liga MX titles and played in a World Cup, the tall, focused kid from the blue-collar neighborhood of Oak Cliff was spotted early – age 9 – by Marcio Leite, a decorated Brazilian coach at Dallas Texans SC, the club that more or less dominated the landscape until FCD’s arrival and is the closest thing they have to a local rival today.

The youngest of Adrian and Maria Gonzalez’s four children, a 5-year-old Omar got to be a flag bearer in the pregame festivities when the Cotton Bowl hosted World Cup matches in 1994, lighting a fire for the game that his parents stoked despite their limited means (Adrian drove a dump truck on construction projects at all hours, while Maria worked multiple jobs in addition to ferrying her children to their various activities).

Watched the second half and Omar played well. The game was streamed for free on Concacaf, assuming leg 2 will be as well. This was really a wide open game. Geiger in the middle too, and he called a pretty good game. Gave out a lot of yellows but it stayed under control.

Guess this like-able goober of a poor centerback is going to win another trophy.

    Pachuca up 1-0 now.
