You could say that about untold thousands of players around the world. But maybe that was your point...
Hoyos team, Boca Unidos, is currently in 16th place in the Argentine second division. Michael has three goals and 12 starts since August 28, 2016. Keep it up Michael! Kid is only 25, still has time to move up in the world. http://us.soccerway.com/players/michael-hoyos/110202/
Guess who's back! Hoyos has signed with a team in the Ecuadorean first division, Deportivo Cuenca. Historically speaking, it's the 6th best team in Ecuador, and 62nd best team in South America. Start of a comeback perhaps? http://www.conmebol.com/en/conmebol-ranking-copa-libertadores http://int.soccerway.com/teams/ecuador/club-depertivo-cuenca/650/ https://translate.google.com/transl...uenca-confirma-fichaje-argentinos&prev=search
It's a moot point. There's no way anyone in MLS will be able to fend off Real Madrid for his signature.
As someone who has seen him first time 15 years ago and follows his development ever since I think all this sarcasm is misdirected. The kid was very talented ( unlike his younger brother who was good but not special) and played on Argentina U-20 for a reason. He was badly injured in a car accident and that's totally changed his career.
It's not directed at Hoyos. There's a poster who has a long tradition of benignly trolling this thread and others, so it's fun to send a little ribbing their way from time to time.
Hoyos has already started three straight games for Deportivo Cuenca in the Ecuador first division. According to one report, he is "impressing" the fans. He appears to be playing the role of a "10" in midfield. https://translate.google.com/transl...func=news_user_view&id=2818815577&prev=search https://translate.google.com/transl...roserrano-campeonatonacional.html&prev=search https://translate.google.com/transl...na-dupla-que-promete-en-el-cuenca&prev=search

Video above is a December announcement of his cuenca signing. Goal is for Boca Unidos against All Boys in Primera B from 8/27
Hoyos has been playing regularly for Cuenca, appearing in all 28 games so far (23 starts) and has scored three goals.
