I think the injuries took a toll on him and like you pointed out he is not particularly quick out there.
He only has 1 cap under JK correct? Outside of Cameron and FJ he has got to be one the most versatile players in the US pool.
He still looked good against Villa. I see him one or two seasons in mls and off to do commentary, in front of the camera. He's a handsome man.

Highlights from the midweek team of the week performance in a 2-1 home win over Ipswich. Spector was at right back. Gets beat on the dribble at 1:09. That was his most note worthy appearance in the package. Manager Gary Rowett was then sacked after the game despite the team sitting in 7th. He was replaced by Gianfranco Zola. With Zola in charge Brum lost 2-1 at home to Brighton & Hove Albion yesterday. Spector was subbed off during second half stoppage time. It looks like he might have hurt himself blocking a shot at 4:42 of the below highlight package. I couldn't find any additional information after a brief Google search.

Possible MLS move? http://sbisoccer.com/2017/01/birmingham-manager-zola-says-spector-could-move-to-mls Birmingham manager Gianfranco Zola says Spector has received offers that could see him return to the U.S. during the January transfer window. Spector is Birmingham City’s longest-serving player, having played 179 games since joining the club in 2011.
If he makes the move soon, can join Camp Cupcake and beat out Evans and Zusi for starting RB. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
His hometown Chicago Fire are badly in need of a RB. Would that be his ideal MLS position or has his play at CM or CB in recent years shown that he could help a team more when played centrally?
I think his salary would dictate that he play more centrally. MLS teams tend not to drop a ton of money on fullbacks. But, as you say, they have a really desperate need for a right back. I've seen the idea of Chicago moving Polster to right back talked about though, which would allow them to put together a three-man midfield of Juninho, McCarty, and Spector. Not awful!
