My view on clubs at mid-season:
30 points- Paris SG : So far the team of the season, eleven games won zero goal conceided....it's clear coach Lair is winning his bet to make Paris great since his first year at the club (chapeau!). The signing of Ashley Lawrence for three season is tremendous as the Canadian is what every top club with very big ambition needs (young, talented, ambitious) and her versatility will be very useful through all season. For me they are the favourite to win the league at this point. the only problem is Amandine Henry staying for only three months
27 points- O. Lyon: Morgan's signing is the legacy of Jean-Michel Aulas in women football history, the most popular player in the greatest female club on Earth....this is what Lyon's owner wanted....but is it what his team needed?...Don't get me wrong Alex is really a top player and her movement without the ball are closer to Schelin ones more than Hegerberg or Le Sommer...but her coming will compltely change team dynamics on and off the pitch for sure, the American has to adapt quickly to France's life and teammates or Lyon will encounter some internal problems.
Buchanan coming means one between Kumagai and Renard will leave (could be both at the end of the season) but a three defence Kadeisha-Wendie-Griedge could be the most impressive we will ever see.....Henning signing for only six months is WTF...
27 points- Montpellier: The club is ambitious and really wants to get into the champions league...I like it....but does coach Saez really think Janice Cayman will be decisive in challenging PSG and OLo_O:eek:...the Belgian is a good player nothing more, she will bring nothing exceptionnal to the team which imho still need to find Utsugi's replacement to be competitive. Blackstenius's coming is particular, many have criticized Stina because they wanted her to sign for a club currently at the champions league.....forgetting the Swedish is only 20 years old, so needs to play very hard at Wolfsburg, Chelsea etc... as a starter in her position.....Saez said it clearly the club had a very positive experience with Swedish players, Oqvist, Sembrant and Jakobsson, he highly praised their professionalism plus from what I know all them enjoy life in South France....so you know why Stina wanted to come....
15 points- Guingamp: The surprise of the season so far, coach M'barek (only female manager in D1F) has built a very solid team which really impressed me, they recruited the very talented Lea Le Garrec, ex enfant prodige, and could end up having their best season ever.
13 points- Juvisy: The team just like its captain Thiney seems to have entered a downfall phase....obsess with professionalism they are trying to merge with male club Paris FC instead of focusing more on what happens in the pitch.....I see them having their worst year since ages...No one has been signed so far.
12 points- Rodez: Very little budget but big heart, same old song years after years from them, they have the worst defense in D1 but still win important games....their secret? HEART, they give it all always.
11 points- O. Marseille: Started the championship very badly but after adapting in D1F and tactically better integrating the many players they recruited last summer, OM seems to be unstoppable....imho they still need higher quality upfront but so far so good for coach Parra and his players.
10 points- Saint-Etienne: Same old song, a team who never progress happy to stay in the middle of the table zero ambition from owner and his best friend coach Didier.....
10 points- Soyaux: I was expecting more from them definitely, they have the players but the coach is very confused, average.....American Krauser already left the team after three months...and they recruited attacking player Anne-Laure Davy who despite being French is almost unknown in her country.
9 points- Bordeaux: Great team spirit has helped them overcome their clear technical deficiency but it is enough to stay in D1?...Not sure, they should recruit more quality but so far only ex-Boston Breakers cm Ghoutia Karchouni is announced......definitely not enough.
4 points- Albi: Last season coach Ogouyon (very underrated imho) has done a miracle keeping a team hugely lacking quality in D1, this season it will be way harder to do the same as their most talented player, Tatiana Solanet, just left for Dijon(D2F)...they recruited the very interesting youngster Laurie Saulnier and Serbian Milica Mijatovic but loosing Tatiana is a big blow who could cost them relegation.
1 point- Metz: Some people just never learn...two seasons ago they made a huge mistake by underestimating D1F and were immediately relegated. This season they repeated it....so far only one goal scored by their CB and worst defense in the league...the team is screaming for at least one quality striker but no recruitment has been made this winter so far which could only means they already accepted D2...

PSG deducted the 3 points from their win against Albi in Matchday 1, Albi gets the 3 points.
PSG put on Palacin as a sub who was not on the teamsheet and therefore ineligible to play.

    Table

    1. PSG 27 points
    2. OL 27 points

    11. Albi 7 pts, they close the gap to 2 points on Bordeaux.

Bah, this doesn't make sense... ok PSG made a silly mistake for a pro-club, but I sure don't want to see OL win the umptenth title because of this. We can agree that PSG shouldn't have deployed Palacin, but I doubt it altered the final result of that match. I am sorry for Albi, but I guess they should have sanctioned PSG some other way (although, I repeat, they were unexcusable for making such an amatuerial mistake at their level).

Anyway, unless OL wins the league by more than 4 points (and even then, you could make a case that it wouldn't have happened in different circumstances), it doesn't sound like they would deserve this title... :devilish:

Silly very stupid mistake indeed by the rules are clear and in France....despite public beliefs... we have a very strong respect for rules and regulations.....That said imo they should replay the game but PSG still has an appeal...everything aint't lost.....
A shock but not really a big surprise.....Lair didn't wanted to coach a female club after Lyon but accepted Paris only because his agent (Sonia Souid) couldn't find him a pro men club.....his reputation will never allow him to coach the males......To persuade him Paris offered a salary which even D2 male team's coaches don't earn (strong rumors says one number and four zero €....) so he basically signed only for the money, challenge/motivation wasn't really there anymore.....
Despite the success he had in this first part of the season, he never really settled down within the club....when he signed, as every coaches normally do, he wanted to have full control of the female section so he forced the club to get rid of all staff members close to Benstiti and to hire his own and there the problems began....
Lair encountered serious resistance from those people who felt their job (and/or power) threatened, indeed a man called Patrick Michel who used to work as an intendant under his predecessor, did a six days hunger strike to denounce (according to him) harassement and bullying made by Lair to force him to resign.....Obviously Lair denied every accusation and wanted to sue the man but rumors said he was expecting more support from the club's board who only decided to open an internal investigation not backing their coach up even publicly..SMH.....
I'm sorry for the girls who really deserves their first place but points deduction and Lair resigning were in the air...

thanks for the info. what's the scoop with Wendi Renard? I heard rumors she was leaving Lyon; at first to Germany, but the latest got it to the Orlando Pride

and interesting score, PSG showing no mercy after their stiff penalty enforced on them, destroys a team called Bourges in French Cup play by an incredible 19-0 score line

thanks for the response, but got to wonder; why did Lyon go after two more cb's in Henning(signed all ready) & Buchanan(close to signing)? The cb starting positions tends to be locked down for the season, and I'm pretty sure they don't want to spend the rest of the season on the bench either

They just anticipate Renard's departure as well as possibly Kumagai. Henning is on a six months contract that will be reviewed in June. Lyon were short of experienced defenders, so got a couple to make sure it goes ok if someone gets injured.

    French Cup results :

The team I support FC Nantes did well considering they are the smallest ranked team around, although the squad is a lot better than their level suggest.

The club started from the bottom level, when it was created, so it is going up every season but very slowly and they got refused promotion because the club as a whole ( men, women, youth teams) does not have enough referees registered ( sic)

Blackstenius with a successful debut as she scores the winner for Montpellier against PSG!

Morgan didn't get on the scoresheet but was involved in both of Le Sommer's goals.

Morgan had a nice glancing header that was saved. Would have been a great goal to open her account

I hope she stays in France!!!...Com'on Wendie just signs the 20 000€ per month which Aulais is offering, Mbock - Renard- Buchanan could be the best defense ever, a legendary trio which people will talk about for decades....
Anyway other news, Bouhaddi extended her contract till 2020, after four years Delphine Chatelin is back paying football at Bordeaux:thumbsup: while the reason behind OL signing Henning for only six months is may be because she shares the same agent than Seger and Maroszan....you know "favors"....just saying:rolleyes::ninja:....

Division 1 feminine matchday 12 results:

    Soyaux - Bordeaux: 2-0 ; Babinga, Belkacemi
    Guingamp - O. Lyon: 0-3 ; Le Sommer 2x, Hegerberg
    O. Marseille - Rodez: 3-1 ; Coton-Pelagie, Asseyi, Loze' / Banuta
Juvisy - Albi: 3-0 ; Greboval, Catala, Mateo
    Saint-Etienne - Metz: postponed

    League table:

    Goascorers:
    1) Jakobsson (mhsc) 14 goals
    2) Le Sommer (ol) 13 goals
    3) Hegerberg (ol) 10 goals
    4) Delie (psg) 9 goals
    5) Abily (ol), Catala (juv) 7 goals
    7) Amani (gui), Bourgouin (soy), Chaumette (asse) 6 goals

    My thought:
The official Alex Morgan era has begun with an assist:thumbsup:.....Overall a good start for someone who everybody (including herself) is expecting to do great things on and off the pitch...for the moment she "only" did the front page of the most important football magazine in France and was invited in a very popular sport show but the best is yet to come waiting for the famous web series....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:...Anyway, Aulas's wish aside, it was a very interesting matchday with the Swedish definitely conquering MHSC...I'm pretty sure Swedish will be the second language talk over there...Poor PSG who ended 2016 top of the league now are third out of the WCL which means they basically have to win all games left....Meanwhile OM is on a four straight victory;).
The transfers window is still open till January 31st so some change could still happen.....:)

I liked the interview Eurosport did where the reporter asked in English, Blackstenius answered in Swedish and Jacobsson translated to French.

Linda's French is much better that Sofia's imo, they should have asked her for translation.
I mean Sofia does most of the social media stuff for MHSC in English.

I think they just wanted to interview the goalscorers, and probably expected Stina to answer in English so they could do one of those incredibly annoying voiceovers.

    Matchday 12 highlights:

Best goal is Stina Blackstenius's one at 6:49, first game in France, first goal, decisive against PSG which give Montpellier the second place.....THE PERFECT START for Stina ...Note also great game from Rodez Goalie Julie Niphon who despite her team losing to OM showed her great athletic abilities, too bad she's so irregular and Rodez have also in Deborah Garcia an excellent goalkeeper who coach Joseph usually trust more as a starter.

So Iam the only one who didn't saw this famous interview:cry::(

In the highlights you certainly noted OM number 27 which delivered an exquisite assit and had quite a great game from what we see, her name is Maelle Lakrar, 16 years old defender, and according to many the next big thing coming from France. Maelle is part of our generation 2000 which many (including myself) think have the potential to shock the world in the years to come but there is a problem.
There is a on going conflict between the federation and the professinal clubs (OL, OM, PSG mostly) which could damage the career of this new generation, here is what the problem is all about.
Since the beginning of the years 2000's, the FFF decided to also give young female players a proper football education opening them doors of the prestigious Clairefontaine (also known as CNFE) and indeed it worked with France able to produce top talent since.
To enter CNFE girls get scouted (usually around 14 old) then selected to pass technical/physical test and once admitted, they spend the week training at Clairefontaine and the week-end they are back playing for their local clubs during 2-3 years, same process happens for the other federation football academies around France. But here comes the problems.
Since increasingly being involved in female football, big French club feel the obligation to give their players their own football education and are less willing to let their best teenager go to CNFE and basically not properly teaching them football for about two-three years....A situation which caused OM for exemple to literally force their players Tess Laplacette and Maelle Lakrar to make a choice between training at FFF academy but be retrograde with the reserve, or leaving the academy and play with the senior team with their club.....Yes they really forced two teenagers to take such a hard decision:eek:.....Tess choose to play for OM so left CNFE while Maelle didn't leave and was force out of the first team, but OM had only gained two points in their first six matches which "forced" coach Parra to call her back and since her return they won four games in a row.....:whistling:....On the other side FFF is far from innocent as is well known that to be called in France very young age group (U16 and U17) be a product of Clairefontaine or their various academies around France "help"quite a lot....:whistling:
Me personaly I think both side have some indisputable/evident points but I just hope players will not get penalized because they choose one side instead of the other...

Bordeaux continues is excellent reinforcement campaign by signing the 21 years old CM Ghoutia Karchouni.
Ghoutia former OL youth teams and PSG, was once very highly rated by the FFF after she won the U17 world cup in 2012 (with Mbock , Toletti etc...) but suffered a terrible injury at her knee (ACL I think).
She had to pass some test before signing, she lately was playing for Boston Breakers in the NWSL league but didn't make an impact.....according to her Americans prefer a physical game rather than her more technical that's the reason of her failing:cool:.....Very interesting player, if she's back fully fit but after all these years still completely stranger to humility....some people just never change...loool.
