Hire a good football guy to run day to day and have him be in charge of hiring a coach, scouting, etc...
He's still won more than lavolpe and many others as well. Ok he failed with the nt, but let's not pretend that shit was all on him. The shitting on chepo is unwarranted, I'm not his biggest fan but he's still among the most successful coaches in liga mx.
Objectively looking at him, yes he's won quite a few titles, but he's also been shit for almost 4 years now. Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk
Not true, he's only had 1 gig and they pulled the plug prematurely. The shit job he did is still more than what almeyda has been able to accomplish. It's all about opportunity. Lavolpe was done, Wilas gave him a life line and now were acting like he deserved the job and that he's still has something to give. When it comes to Chepo, most have their blinders on because of the hex. Again, with chivas, he wasn't given a fair shake and had less quality to work with. Vergara is doing everything to help almeyda and the dude hasn't been able to reach semis yet.
He was horrible in the hex. He was too rigid tactically and became very predictable. We almost lost to Jamaica at Azteca... The way the NT played was completely on him. I won't comment on his club career however if someone with as few ideas as him can be a successful coach in LigaMX, then that's a huge indictment of the league...
Almeyda has turned Chapo Sanchez into a legit RB. So much so that Dedos Lopez couldn't break into the starting lineup. That should sum up the quality of Almeyda's work.
Club vs national team are two complete different animals. Lets not forget everyone was riding with chepo the first two years.
Not really my analysis but it's no secret that there is a dearth of coaching talent... That hinders the players...
Chepo has had 4 pro gigs, 2 of those he made champions, he made semis on his third and now with Santos. In retrospect I think it's bullshit the amount of blame he gets for that hex meltdown and it's even more unfair how he's deemed a bad coach. He's not the reason for the shortage, if anything he's one of the very few who actually should be coaching still. Unlike thes other dudes who go decades without winning hardly anything. I think folks confuse style with efficacy. He may not be pretty but he wins. Before the wheels fell off, he gave us some great performances with the nt as well.
He was not up for the challenge of the NT job... He could not adapt. But agree completely with duses coaching for years and winning dick. How those duses keep getting hired is beyond me.
Smh...I don't buy this but ok. Things didn't magically turn around after he was fired. The bulk of the players went through some of their worst slumps. His biggest mistake was sticking with them but it's not like he had much else to choose from.
So when a team plays well it's because of the coach but when they play like shit it's the players fault? He was figured out and teams adjusted accordingly. And playing duses like Salcido when he clearly wasn't up for it is on the coach... The team was doing fine under Herrera but then he went full naco...
No it's not what I said, I'm saying his failure wasn't only his doing and the player pool was thinner. He deserved to be fired, it just doesn't mean he's a poor coach. Lots of good coaches fail.
