I have mentioned this in several previous posts.
    1. Desire for promotion. When one national team travels in Asia, USA - it's always about the promotion. Also, you maybe remember how Croatian team went in Australia during early 90's, probably to take donations of Croatian community over there.
    2. Desires of bigger clubs compared with the subordinated national team interests.
    3. Situation in Croatian Football Federation is pretty much known from your signature.:D
    4. I doubt that they will take players of Hajduk or Rijeka. Only Dinamo Zagreb players, because Hajduk and Rijeka don't like people in CFF, they are all Dinamo fans. President of Rijeka Miskovic went out of CFF, because of that match in Zagreb, between Dinamo and Rijeka. Dinamo Zagreb helped a lot to Rijeka with loaned players, not sure how this could work, if Rijeka wins the title. I think that they will avoid Hajduk Split completely. Why would Dinamo Zagreb promote their players? They will promote them, only if they join Dinamo. Hajduk has several good players, but they are out of focus, because of that silly rivalry and Hajduk won't obey Suker, Mamic. Players of Hajduk, who are good are: Nikola Vlasic, Fran Tudor maybe. You know anyone better?

Rijeka has Mate Males, losing support of Dinamo, their ex-player. Same as Mateo Mitrovic, Franko Andrijasevic.

There are a lot of Croatian players in many weaker leagues: Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, China, Slovenia, Albania, Korea, but they are not in the focus at all.

They won't invite Leon Benko for sure. Some players are invited in NT, until they become sold in better clubs, after that they are forgotten (like Marko Livaja, Dejan Lovren is avoided often, Alen Halilovic forgotten, Niko Kranjcar (Glasgow Rangers), Gordon Schildenfeld (old and slow, he returned in Croatian league because of that), Danijel Pranjic (retired probably), Sammir, Eduardo da Silva, Ivan Kelava, Ivan Mocinic, Hrvoje Milic, Marin Tomasov, Josip Radosevic, Anas Sharbini, Marko Leskovic, Dario Kresic, Ivo Ilicevic, Ivan Tomecak, Ante Vukusic, Igor Bubnjic, Mario Maloca, Mate Males, Franko Andrijasevic, Robert Muric etc.)

In the recent past, they were promoted as talents, presentation of long and successful careers. Obviously, something went wrong there. If they were really great, why are not they in some better clubs, or they lost support of Croatian football figures, like Mamic, Suker...I think that they lost support of these figures.

Just remember what happened with Zlatko Kranjcar (father coach) and Niko Kranjcar (son player). They both lost support of Mamic and Suker, who only waits what will Mamic say. Same thing is with Eduardo da Silva.
Parents of several players here also took things in their own hands, they thought that they could earn more without Mamic and Suker (Robert Muric, Alen Halilovic). They don't exist on football map at all.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Murić

His parents thought, if Ajax wants him, they will do everything, so they turned away from Mamic. Observe that his national team status became very modest. He will play for Croatia, only if he makes major club success alone.

Federico Rasic was also mentioned in some context. Croat of Argentina.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federico_Rasic

Today, there are no great Croats from South American countries. They don't play for their birth countries at all.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agustín_Vuletich

Vuletic seems solid, he played in Arsenal Sarandi, better club. Veracruz seems weaker. He could not play in Europe.

In Croatian football, you need the support of key football figures in Croatia. If they manage to obtain that status, they will be invited, protected until the end of their careers. Around 32 years, they will return in Dinamo Zagreb and conclude their careers. Every other aspect leaves you all alone, probably without any success, no matter how talented you are.

Observe Dinamo Zagreb today, they are second now.:D The influence of Zdravko Mamic became weaker, but still he is in the shadow. Suker, Cacic only puppets. I don't even know, why Ivaylo Petev became the coach of Dinamo.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivaylo_Petev

At China Cup, we will see mostly Dinamo Zagreb or Lokomotiva Zagreb (Dinamo B Team) players, their promotion for further sale abroad: Vinko Soldo, Mario Situm, maybe Domagoj Antolic, Davor Lovren, Domagoj Pavicic, Josip Pivaric, Adrian Semper, Dino Peric, Dominik Livakovic, Borna Sosa, Petar Mamic :D, Marko Leskovic, Ivan Fiolic, Nikola Moro, Filip Benkovic and Ante Coric.

Interesting, Josip Coric is the brother of Ante Coric and he plays for Bosnia Herzegovina, because he is weak. Origins provide him that value. He plays in Lokomotiva Zagreb. See how they are both protected.

But Suker will serve the story, how great Croatian league is and how he needs to use those players on International events.:D

    http://hns-cff.hr/en/matches/27630/hong-kong-hrvatska-04/

These players against Hong Kong were mostly talented, but they lost the support of Mamic.

    Zdravko Mamic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zdravko_Mamić

Joseph Didulica, Dario Knezevic, Mato Neretljak, Jerko Leko (average talent, but he managed to run a lot), Niko Kranjcar, Leon Benko (terrible player, but he had support), Eduardo da Silva (talented, without support).

Davor Vugrinec, terrible player, he played until 40. Dinamo Zagreb helped him at the end, so that he can enlarge his club career.

Vedran Jese was also protected in Dinamo Zagreb.

Nikola Safaric still plays in Varazdin club. Terrible player. Srebrenko Posavec, without talent.

It's enough to remember Jasmin Agic.:D He was always invited and protected.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jasmin_Agić

Betting career. He pretends that he is Istrian.

The funniest player is Mihael Mikic.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mihael_Mikić

He is still active in Japan. He only ran constantly, but he was also protected. Some day he will return in his beloved Dinamo. Around his 40.

All those players who turned against Mamic, they don't have any influence in football: Igor Biscan, Dario Simic, Tomo Sokota. Otherwise, they would be coaches, like Igor Cvitanovic.:D

Ivan Tomecak plays in the club where Zoran Mamic became the coach, same as Marin Tomasov. If you are protected, you can play anywhere.

Correct. There will only be "B" teams or players who are not important for their teams like Carmona and Vargas for Hoffenheim and Atalanta respectively.

@Gilbertsson you really like to write. Shame there are no more Croats here.

No, they will call some Hajduk/Rijeka/other teams players and they will accept the call-ups as it's a chance to expose themselves to foreign clubs, although this is B tournament. And, nota bene, Dinamo don't have enough players to make NT roster, it's all foreigners there, including two under-performing Chileans*. There's just not enough domestic players although that garbage that calls themselves "football workers" would dare to fill whole A team with it's own players.

Problems within the FA are huge, they are destroying our football, but they won't reject NT offers. :D

Shame this game comes in this time (of my boycott) and that this isn't proper A-teams match. Beausejour will destroy Pivarić.

    * Angelo Henriquez is one of biggest disappointments lately. He played great prior 2015 Copa and afterwards he's just gone off the radar. I was sure he will make great transfer from Dinamo to Western Europe, but I think his limits now, after one and a half depressing seasons, are Qatar or UAE. Shame, seems to be nice lad.

Some of them exist here, mostly when some important competition is active, EURO, World Cup.

Not sure, why would Mamic, Suker help to Hajduk and Rijeka and provide them international tournament where those clubs could sell their players. Relations between Dinamo and Rijeka are spoiled. The friendship lasted until Rijeka ended second, behind Dinamo and Dinamo sent loaned players to Rijeka, so that they can win against other clubs and provide to Dinamo new titles.

Dinamo had support of Istra, Osijek, Rijeka, Lokomotiva, Slaven Belupo, RNK Split...all northern Croatian clubs were for Dinamo, with Rijeka and RNK Split in the south. Easy 36 pts every year.

Fernandes was good in some periods, especially during the Champions League qualifications. His problem is discipline and he likes to possess the ball. Soudani also became weak. Dinamo buys foreign players mostly based on their price, Dinamo can't buy expensive players, so they hope that they can buy unknown young player from abroad and hope that he will be great, like Eduardo da Silva. But this can happen only 1,2 times.

Even Croatia, as a national team, creates weak results. Some teams at EURO 2016 are obviously weaker than Croatia, but they ended in further knock out stages, like Wales, Poland, Iceland. They were in quarter finals, Croatia only in Round of 16. Also, some weak teams managed to join that Round of 16: Switzerland, Northern Ireland, Hungary, Slovakia, Republic of Ireland.

I don't understand why people consider Croatia as a good team, they only have 7,8 great individuals. Much weaker teams provide better results than Croatia. Croatia was equal to Portugal, but still they lost in 117th minute.

France, Germany are better than Croatia in Europe. Croatia won against Spain at EURO 16, but in another match, it would be very tight.

At World Cups, Croatia is terrible.

World Cups 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014. Croatia wasn't even present in South Africa 2010. Croatia also gets strong teams in group stages:

    2002 - Italy, Mexico, Ecuador
2006 - Brazil, even Australia was strong in 2006.
    2014 - Brazil, Mexico

But still, weaker teams than Croatia managed to enter in the knock out stage: Nigeria, Algeria, Costa Rica, Greece, Switzerland, USA.

Something is wrong with Croatian team. Individual quality exists, but they don't have that winning mentality. At China Cup I predict Croatian defeat in the final match.

Pivaric (his surname means beer maker). This is his only connection with the football. Why do they insist on such LB players: Pivaric, Strinic. It would be better that they place one CB player on that position, he could be like Dario Simic on RB position, statical, good in technical skills, but without errors. Vida will run forward anyway, so it would be good to have Lovren on that LB position.

Do you remember the match against Wales in Wales, Croatia was losing 1-0 and in a few minutes 1-2 for Croatia. Remember who scored the goal, Lovren from 25 meters.

Croatia has problems with the results against England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Portugal, same as with every South American team at World Cups (Argentina 1998, (1-0), Ecuador 2002 (2-0), Mexico 2002 (1-0), Brazil 2006 (1-0), Brazil 2014, (3-1), Mexico 2014, (3-1). Also, they underestimated Asia - Oceania teams (Japan 2006, (0-0), Australia 2006 (2-2).

So far, Croatia can only play against European teams and African teams, because they don't have discipline strategy. Croatian last hope is WC Russia 2018, before some players retire: Corluka, Subasic, Lovren, Modric, Rakitic, Mandzukic. The problem is how Russian fans might accept Croatian team and fans.

Comments in this video are amusing.:D Brotherhood.

Fans of Zenit don't like Croatian fans. Not sure about Lokomotiv, Spartak, Dinamo Moscow and CSKA...they seem nicer.

I thought that Manchester United will return Angelo Henriquez after 1 better season. But, entire Croatian league seems depressive to watch and participate inside that society, so it's not some major surprise to end up as average. The team, environment dictates those conditions. In Germany, France, Italy - Henriquez would be great, competitive atmosphere, importance of every match, sold out stadiums. Even Croatia has constant punishments and forbidden stadium attendance. Imagine how players of Dinamo feel when they need to play in some small city, where they see 500 fans.

Confederation Cup 2017 will be an interesting competition for Chile. Maybe with African team, if Ghana or Cameroon win the African Nations Cup.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_FIFA_Confederations_Cup

Matches with Germany, Mexico and Portugal seem great to follow.

Croatian coach Cacic confirmed these players for the China Cup 2017

Goalkeepers: Andrej Prskalo (Rijeka), Dominik Livaković (Dinamo)

Defenders: Matej Mitrović (Rijeka), Josip Pivarić (Dinamo), Borna Barišić (Osijek), Mateo Barać (Osijek), Josip Juranović (Hajduk), Jakov Filipović (Inter), Toni Datković (Koper)

Middfield: Josip Mišić (Rijeka), Mate Maleš (Rijeka), Franko Andrijašević (Rijeka), Mario Šitum (Dinamo), Domagoj Antolić (Dinamo), Nikola Vlašić (Hajduk), Filip Ozobić (Gabala)

Attackers: Antonio Perošević (Osijek), Mirko Marić (Lokomotiva)

Very weak squad without anyone from important international clubs.

Better players on this list are: Livakovic, Franko Andrijasevic, Mario Situm, Nikola Vlasic.

If Chile brings at least 2,3 players from stronger clubs, Chile could win.

    Toselli;
    Opazo, P.Díaz, Jara, Beausejour;
    Carmona,
    Valencia, Pinares,
    Fuenzalida, Henríquez, Vargas.

Really famous clubs.:whistling: The squad was changed with 1,2 players in the last few days. Only Franko Andrijasevic seems good here. Maybe Mario Situm. Pivaric is in national team, but he is usually bad.

Fran Tudor maybe took something from his distant cousin Igor Tudor (Juventus) or maybe something from his much distant relative Lukas Tudor Bakulic.:D

I saw Pizzi last press conference before the China Cup. He seemed more at ease and talked more fluently and with much more substance than in the past. A couple of his answers were tangled up but overall he was good.

Small changes. Since Matej Mitrovic became sold in Besiktas, he won't participate at China Cup. Even Besiktas makes national teams as subordinated.

The names are very weak, Chile won't have hard time in winning this cup. Chile should be aware of defensive style which is well implemented in Iceland team. It's not attractive, but they could be dangerous for both teams.

They also use their B team. Unknown players.

We should win this with our "B" team although Iceland could be trouble on set-pieces.

Does anyone know what the situation is with FIFA ranking points for this? I hope this cup is outside of the calendar, because playing friendly games against opposition ranked lower than us is only going to hurt our ranking, even if we win all our matches.
