Full details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016–17_Arab_Club_Championship A few qualifying games have been played already. There are 10 Asian teams and 10 African teams in the tournament. I think 6 Asian teams and 6 African teams will qualify for the group stage. Qualifying rounds end in March, group stage starts in July. From the group stage onwards, Egypt will host the tournament. Group stage followed by semi finals and final in August.

Notes ^ Qatar were allocated one group stage slot, but chose not to participate due to scheduling difficulties with other tournaments. ^ Kuwait were allocated one preliminary round slot, but could not participate due to FIFA's suspension of its football association. ^ Yemen were allocated one preliminary round slot, but did not participate due to war/security issues. ^ As the tournament's hosts (from the group stage onwards), Egypt were allocated two group stage slots as opposed to one, and Algeria were therefore allocated just one group stage slot rather than two. ^ Libya were allocated one preliminary round slot, but did not participate due to war/security issues.
Al-Ahed defeated Al-Riffa 5-1 on aggregate, through to the next round. Naft Al-Wasat to face Al-Jaish in a few days time, hosted in Beirut. Edit: Didn't realise another thread has been made for this tournament since this one. Can they be merged?

Leg 1: Ahed (Lebanon) 2-1 Fanja (Oman) Leg 2: February 8 Lebanese side played with only one foreign player.
Al Merreikh don't play the best 11? Because if yes, must beat with better goal difference they play every year in CAF Champions League final rounds, can't believe that can beat only 1-0 or 2-1 a team from Djibouti ) anyway, hope all teams will threat seriously this competition, Al Ahly, Zamalek, EST, Al Merreikh (African Zone) are very strong.
The draw for the groups will take place very shortly Here is what the trophy looks like: 😍 | This is the #ArabClubChampionship trophy that Naft Al-Wasat will be competing for in Egypt in just under 3 months' time... pic.twitter.com/H977Rpewj5— Iraq National Team (@IraqNT_EN) May 5, 2017

Anyone watching this tournament? (It's streamed live on ac.twitter.com). Refereeing has been an absolute shambles so far.
Its a timepass forced tournament for most of the clubs..I think its failure this time will be final nail into the coffin that the tournament should not be played any more..
Ahed Lebanon 1-0 Zamalek Egypt http://falebanon.com/2017/07/27/ahed-1-0-zamalek-egypt-arab-championship/
A low level tourney marred by low sportsmanship by Faysaly Jordan players. They almost assaulted the referee. Sad
first time ever that Egyptian teams lost in a tournament being played in Egypt. Surprisingly, Ahli lost twice against the same team.
