How often do players who are stuck in the U-23 squad in a Championship level actually make the jump to the full team?
what just made me curious is Premier League 2 basically the u-23's Championship? and do all youth/reserve teams play in their respective leagues such as a League 2 u-23 squad appearing only in fourth division reserve/youth league?
Here's a bit of background on the newest U23 iteration, PL2: https://www.premierleague.com/news/58764 Theoretically, clubs could drop all the way out of League 2 and still be grandfathered into this league, but that likely wouldn't happen. I have no idea about what's up with U23/reserves in the other English leagues.
