Agree about Cerro. I think that the deserve all the credit for coming to Medellin and actually played to win the match and also were very close. It was a bad game for us, matbe the worst in this campaign, but it doesn't underestimate from Cerro's effort. But at the end, I think that this team we have deserves to try and make a history and becoming the first team to ever win both Libertadores & Sudamericana at the same year. Del Valle wasn't walk in the park, Chapecoense won't be either and this time we start in Medellin. Hopefully we'll get a good result before the final will be decided in Brazil.
Chapecoense with an epic result by ousting São Lourenço. HUGE for a team that was not in Brazil's premier league from 1979 until the 2014 Campeonato Brasileiro. Bear in mind that this team was in the 3rd division in 2012 and in the fourth division as recently as 2009 - and it is also a team with no national titles. Atlético Nacional will be an even more difficult opponent in this year's final than Rio da Prata was in last year's quarterfinals. Atlético Nacional deserves a lot of respect for finishing 1st in the league part of the Finalización 2016, losing only one game. I wouldn't put it past them to win the knockout stage, and fully expect them to face Real Madrid on 12/18/2016. Chapecoense needs to hold the result in Colombia - at home, they've defeated Rio da Prata and held São Lourenço to a goalless draw. To win it would be epic (and it'd take Chapecoense to the 2017 Libertadores). I hope they win it, as these chances are not common.
The impressive part in our league record is that we played 90% of the time with our second team because the first team was focused in the Sudamericana campaign. Sent from my D2303 using Tapatalk
Cool. I want Chapecoense to win partly because I'm Brazilian but also because they're a modest team. It's David vs. Goliath. Having said that, if you guys win it, great job - you guys have a realistic chance at a rare triple crown. But let's say you guys lose, and you guys do not bring the Club World Cup home. With the depth your team has, if your team's management is smart, you should be able to rebound after such potential setbacks and go for a Libertadores back-to-back, which has become very rare and extremely difficult in South America. Since 1990, only 6 times has a team gone to the final twice in a row: - Olimpia, 1990-1991 - São Paulo, 1992-1994 - Palmeiras, 1999-2000 - Boca Juniors, 2000-2001 and 2003-2004 - São Paulo, 2005-2006 And since 1990, winning it back-to-back has only happened twice - São Paulo in 1992 and 1993, and Boca Juniors in 2000 and 2001. Again, I'll be rooting for my country's teams next year, but as I wrote, if the people running your club make wise choices, Atlético Nacional could very well join this list. A second consecutive final, even if lost, is a huge achievement - imagine what it'd mean for Colombian soccer if Atlético Nacional wins it in 2017. Now go and give Real Madrid everything you got come December.

Final "results": 75 dead, 6 survived.. Still in shock. Really. I can't ever write. My thoughts and prays with their families and fans.
Manchester United in 58, Alianza Lima in 87, and now Chapecoense in 2016. Forca Chapecoense. Play the final or not, you are the true champions.
I'm not sure how true the rumor is, but I've read that Atletico Nacional are trying to get CONMEBOL to award Chapecoense as the champion of the Sudamericana. If true, it would be a very classy move on their part. An act from a truly big club. I think doing this would help Atletico Nacional far more than trying to win the title.

Gutted, sometimes its easy to forget how cruel life can be. My thoughts are with the club and the families of those involved. What a s***y year 2016 has been. Don't forget Torino FC who lost their entire team in 1949. Coincidentally, they made up almost the entire Italian national team. Emotion for the tragedy at @ChapecoenseReal. CONMEBOL is discussing making Chapecoense the champion, but Atl. Nacional must agree to it. This is so sad. A small town team making it big, eliminating teams with more tradition, and getting to the final against the current titleholders of the Libertadores. Thanks to Colombia for its heartfelt assistance from the start of all this, and to Atl. Nacional for showing sportsmanship and compassion during this time. Atl. Nacional fans, I hope your team wins the Club World Cup - not only for your team, city, and country, but because it would be a victory for South American soccer, and Chapecoense would have been honored to face you.
according to nacional players in a live interview im watching they are asking to give the titlte to chapecoense
International soccer has responded. Torinto, Benfica, Sevilla, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are among the clubs who have expressed condolences. Neymar, Messi, and Diego Maradona have also publicly voiced their feelings of support towards Chapecoense.
Yep. It's up to CONMEBOL to make the right decision now.
Well hopefully they send some money and some players on loan. It's all good to send apologies and rip's but it really changes nothing. That city was pretty obsessed with the team.
That also came to mind. I doubt any of the European teams would send anyone on loan. I would expect some of the Brazilian teams to do so. I certainly hope Fla would.
Players on loan should come from Brazil, but it'll have to take into account real-world circumstances of the players who are available, the quality of rosters in other teams, and financial ability. But I believe the first division has enough teams whose conditions are such that they can loan out enough players to help Chapecoense rebuild in 2017.
