i was invited to that US Soccer post-match photo opportunity on the pitch. is it really going to be at 10.30, do we have to exit the re-enter the stadium with the ticket?
Would it be possible for anyone to offer advice about getting to the stadium around 6:30? I always go to the bars early and march with AO, so I never worry about parking or anything. But, my friend is driving in from out of state and won't be getting in town until 6:30ish. Would it be better for him to park at the stadium or he also has family that he could leave his car with and Uber?
Saw Kasey Keller in the lobby of my hotel today. Got a picture and we had a nice chat about the castle he used to live in!
I got a photo with Guzan and Bradley. They bought a scone at North Market at about 9 am. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My review: and I'll put the atmosphere, crowd as one I've the best I have been to. AO Pregame: well setup and attended. The party sprawled thru the neighborhoods, good scene, good location and setup. Stadium: 90/10 US fans is my guess and sounded every bit of it for 89 minutes. Supporters sections wrapped around both end lines. The lighting on the fans in the stage area gives it such a cool look. Each side did their own chants and it worked out really well, Drum section was solid as well. It was intense, all emotions on the field and into the stands. Was as good of a sporting event can be. Zero drama and to be honest couldn't have cared less about politics or silly narratives once the whistle blew. Parking lot: literally took 2 hours to get out of the stadium. Horrendous design and setup. Tix: gotta hand it to USSoccer. They controlled sales as tightly as you can possibly do it, and it paid off. Mobile scan was of no issue either. Great time, bummer we didn't get the point.
I agree mostly, but some lame political correctness reared its head. my buddy and I started a chant about, ahem, Chicharito's allegedly lacking of endowment , and some weakling had a total freakout. "How dare you make fun of race/gender/sexuality/dickbiology!" I didn't know that having a small dick was being a protected class, but seriously, how far can you reach for finding something to be offended about? it was honestly disappointing. He's lucky that I was too focused on the game--if that happened at my local AO chapter, my response would have been much stronger.
The lottery system was brilliantly justified. This was the most pro US crowd for a US Mexico game ever. Everything off the field was fantastic. As for what happened for 90 minutes. On that I'm living on a river in Egypt called de-Nile
Ready for a hot take? One of the few things MLS teams do well is keep opposing fans out of the home supporters section. They insist on opposing fans in supporters sections remove away colors or offer to relocate them if they choose not to comply. AO/ US soccer need to work together to fix this at US games.
Did you see Mexico fans in the AO section? I did not. I did see Brian McBride at the airport bar. Briefly commiserated with him about the loss.
Should have tossed beer on them till they leave, which is what would have happened to us in Azteca even in our own section
