So now we know who the mystery "Dest" is who has been recently playing for US U-17. It's Sergino "Serginho" Dest, a '00 right back and right winger with Ajax U-17. Transfermarkt says he was born in Almere, so he may be American through parentage. He has a previous call-up to Oranje U-15 and was previously with Almere City's academy.

    He's a young one:

    Born/age: Nov 3, 2000 (15)

Looks like USSF snuck another one by us without BS have a clue. And at a big club, at that.

Here's a post on an Ajax fan forum from a parent whose son played with Sergino at Almere:

He was in a Dutch U15 camp in January '15 and was named a "stand by" for a camp in November '14

I've always felt like there were a bunch of YAs in Holland that, for whatever reason, never get spotted. This doesn't exactly prove that, but it also doesn't put me off that theory!

Perhaps it was Pynadath or Xuxuh that tipped them off?

Back with our U17s for a pre-WC training camp. Jaylin Lindsey has pretty well established himself as the team's top right back, but Dest could certainly vie to be his backup.

Named to the final US roster for the U17 World Cup, where he will likely serve as backup to Lindsey.

transfermarkt has him listed as Ajax U19 which, if this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajax_Youth_Academy is accurate, means Ajax A-1

so next steps would be Jong Ajax then first team is he stays with them? It's Ajax, somebody must know more about him.

    He's the youngest player on Ajax's U-19 squad this season. Its a team with 99's and 00's, he's a late '00.

He's only played 10 minutes in the first two games, but the starter at RB in the team is a '99 and seems to be a rather regular Dutch international, so a player a year younger would likely have a very hard time playing ahead of that guy.

Well he was called in to play for the US at the U17 World Cup. I'm willing to assume they know if he's eligible

I think the question is more though how? Like not if he is or not, but like is it a parent, and which parent?

Sounds like we may have to wait for the inevitable @bshredder interview to get the answer to that question.

Not a highlight video, to your point though it's not impressive film either.

I was under the impression it was highlights too, thought someone was trolling him.

I prefer an answer to the real burning question:

Is it Sergino, Serginho or Sergiño?

He played the first hour or so of the USA-Ghana U17 match that's currently under way, provisionally cap-tying him to us. I'm only paying about 2/3 attention, so I don't have much of a scouting report.

Dest was outstanding against very strong, fast, athletic Ghanaian attack.

He had several excellent tackles and demonstrated some smarts, too, positioning himself to leave attackers nowhere to go but over the end line.

I think it's fair to say everyone in the YNT thread thought he was excellent.

To me, it wasnt just excellent like "he got the job done" excellent. He looked like a class player in the way he handled some tough situations. Extremely calm and confident.

I went from "who the hell is this guy" to "Who the hell is this guy!?"
