Looks like he is taking his own hands and becoming media for Afghan football! Good on him for reaching out.

It's this type of information that afghans require and that is why Segrt wants AFF media!

Interestingly no word on sharif mukhamad...

We have to have a convincing victory man no excuses for any other result. They've been thrashed 6-0 twice by Palestine twice in the last year.

What a disappointing match. Really there was a lack of coaching and Segrt didn't know what to do in the second half. Bringing players in in the 90th minute? He is saying he wants to see new players and calls them up. But doesn't let them play. Also Jamali once again proved he isn't good quality for the national team. And Hatifi in defence? Please Segrt never do that again. Then I am ok with Hashemi or Iqbalzadeh. And calling Intezar up with knowing that he got a red card in the previous game against Lebanon? I really do hope Segrt makes better choices and use the players he is adding to the team. Spending so much money, energy and time in players without letting them play. Lets hope against Tajikistan Kouhyar is back and Salem. Hopefully then we will have luck and don't get injured players or visa problems or anything else.

    XI against Tajikistan hopefully

    Gariwal
    Intezar-Iqbalzadeh/Rahmani-Saighani-Amin
    Mukhammad-Shayesteh
    Kouhyar-Salem-N.Amiri
    Amani

Azizi will get better in the future but Gariwal is a really good keeper and previously played for Afghanistan. Saighani is a good header so you need one of those players. Next to him or Iqbalzadeh or Rahmani. Segrt also called up Rahim but didn't let him play. Maybe he can play central defence. Amin should always play leftback. He was today the best player with Norlla. Rightback Intezar. Midfield Mukhammad and Shayesteh. I think as our captain Shayesteh should play more defence and let the other attacking players to the job. He could be dangerous with freekicks and corners. In attacking midfield Kouhyar,Salem and Norlla. Salem should be the number 10. Beside Kouhyar you have Popalzay , Zubayr, Hushmand or Azizi. Upfront definitely Khaibar. His back up Zadran or Shirdel.

We should have comfortably beaten Malaysia even with the available players. The Segrt honeymoon period is over.

love that starting XI. Hassan Amin is always one of the best players on the team yet to have a bad game. Im getting tired of Shayesteh's poor decision making and lack of work rate. If we were to play him in the central midfield id prefer having 3 mids instead so we can have a DM to cover his ass. Salem and Popalzay would replace anything we are missing from corners/free kicks.

1-1 is not bad result for Malaysia as their first eleven consist of players which not even a starter in local league. I have no idea what the coach thinking. They played horrible & I take this draw as a win for them.

I just wanna know were this the best Afghan squad or only B team ?

Eh I think we were definitely missing a bunch of impact players which could have made a difference.

No it wasnt the best team, as the team missed key 3-4 players (Salem, Sharif, Shirdel, Hadid)

    Post match discussion.

Having read all the review, i would also like to provide my input into the game.

    Ovays Azizi:
Besides the goal, which I dont blame him for, Azizi didnt have much to do in the game, I recall maybe 1-2 saves which half chances at best. 8/10

    Modijeb Jamali:
He is a quick little player, who can do pressing overlap runs, but as we have seen in the last few games, Jamali lacks positional play, and at times is lost in the field. Ever since Hadid's injury, this position has been a problem area for Afghanistan as Segrt has used Jamali, and Interzar as cover. Overall, his game was ok, the goal was unfortunately his fault, besides that, he did have a couple of pressing runs down the wing. Both Interzar and Jamali havent done much to secure the position and Hadid should easily sit back into right back upon his return. 6/10

    Masih Saighani:
Was solid, and is our current leading defender. I dont think he was out of position or got beaten by his opponent. This position should be secured by Saighani. 8/10

    Arash Hatifie:
Segrt tinkered with his squad and tested Hatifie in central defence, his tall, big build can potentially be a good defender for Afghanistan. Hatifie was solid in defence, positioned well, only thing he lacked was a couple of his tackles were late and his lack of acceleration. Given that Malaysia (besides the goal) didnt really threat Afghans goal, Hatifie did well, question is, can he secure the position ahead of Iqbalzadeh and Hashemi? personally at this stage, Hatifie is on par with the current crop of defenders we have (excluding our current best defender Saighani). 7/10

    Hassan Amin
Along with Saighani, Amin is by far Afghanistan's most consistent and reliable full back. Amin has a very solid game, did not put one foot wrong, made good runs down the line and was rock in defence. 9/10

    Abassin Alikhil / Taher
Both had a decent game, Segrt I assume has instructed them to sit very deep, which is why we saw that there was quiet a gap between Shayesteh and the defensive midfielders. Overall in the game, they had a decent match, played simple football. If you ask me on the formation for next match, I would let only 1 of these players sit down and have 2 holding central midfielders sitting in front to avoid this large gap. 7/10

    Faysal Shayesteh:
He did create the goal which gave Afghanistan the lead, and in patches there was some very good play. Overall I do think Shayesteh needs to improve on his work rate, his positional play and earlier release of the ball. At times during the game, he is sitting up as a striker, and along with the Afghan wingers, Afghanistan effectively has 4 strikers with a massive gap between the DM's. Looks like Shayesteh has a free no 10 role, however, he does need to get fitter and improve his release of the ball. 7/10

    Norlla Amiri
I do rate him as one of Afghanistan's best attackers. He scored the goal, was a constant threat down the wing, overall he has definitely secured the winger role in my opinion. 9/10

    Zubayr Amiri
He did have a decent game too, was a constant threat and his work rate was quiet impressive, at times he ran all the way back in defence to help his team. Overall done well, 8/10

    Zadran
There was good moments with Zadran, the way he held the ball, and took defenders on, A decent showing, but I would still have Amani or Salem or Shirdel instead of Zadran, He is still young and can he slowly included into the team. 7/10

In terms of the next game, I think Segrt will be inviting some more APL players following his Facebook post which is a great move to give exposure to the domestic players. I would also suggest a formation change to a 41231 or a 442, as we have great wingers, attackers, however I dislike the fact that there is a large gap between the midfield line.

preferred Starting XI for a 442
    Azizi
    Amin Saighani Mukhamad Intezar
    N.Amiri Alikhil Hushmand Popalzay
    Amani Shirdel

Preferred Starting XI for a 4213 (as Segrt preferred formation)
    Azizi
    Amin Saighani Mukhamad Intezar
    Taher
    Alikhil Hushmand
    N.Amiri Amani Popalzay

Woahh. Chill dude. Its just a friendly game & I think there is not much change for position of pot for the third round draw of AC 2019 kickoff

There are still plenty of time for the coach to adjust tactical & recruit some new players. I am certainly confidence team like yours, Philippines, Guam, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Palestine as well as Malaysia will be searching for new Naturalised players or half blood players.

The problem is that injuries and bizarre selections have prevented this team from playing a full strength squad for a while now. It is hard to do a full reset of the team like Afghanistan did and perform immediately. Barring a nightmare Jordan and North Korea scenario, I like our odds.
