This game is scheduled to hit stores on Tuesday, 9/27/16 (at least in the U.S.).

No release date has been revealed yet for its demo, but it should be a few weeks before the game itself (currently rumored to be Tuesday, 9/13/16).

Which team(s) are you planning to play as in this game? :)

Changes to this year's edition of the game include the Frostbite engine replacing the Ignite engine (which, in turn, had replaced the Impact engine for FIFA 14) and the addition of The Journey, a single-player campaign mode in which you play Alex Hunter, a young player trying to make his mark in the EPL (you get to choose his position and starting EPL team ahead of time).

My problem with these play as yourself modes, is that you literally start off with no speed, skill or any attributes that make a guy a good player. I'm not sure if that changed in 2016, but it was that way in 2015. My recommendation is that there should be something about your player that is world class and you develop the all around player from there. Like the Deandre Yedlin story. World class pace, questionable tactical ability and game IQ until he developed it in time. But he would have been nowhere in the beginning without the pace.

Hopefully those suggestions and improvements will be implemented in next year's version.

Serie A will be called Calcio A this year. That's embarassing.

    Very nice demo!

The gameplay seems refined yet familiar, while the graphics (at least on my PS4) looks even better than before, not surprising for anyone familiar with the Frostbite engine used in the Battlefield series of games.

Also, the players and coaches now really look like their real-life counterparts more than ever!

And the segment of The Journey included in the demo was pretty interesting, from Alex Hunter's dialogue choices (it appears that he has a choice of a Fiery response, a Cold response and a Balanced response, each of which will apparently have differing consequences later in the game), not to mention how different the feel of the match itself was between choosing to play as the whole team (ala playing a regular FIFA match) and choosing to literally play only as Alex Hunter.

All in all, I can't wait for the full version of the game in two weeks. :)

As it turns out, Atticus Ross composed the musical score for The Journey.

I guess I'm holding out for FIFA...almost bought PES the other day. Just can't get over the licensing and how much more is available on FIFA (and yeah I know there are hacks and ways to plug in real player names, etc, in PES...but I just want to pop in the disc and play).

I really hope FIFA has made some inspired improvements though....

The only thing holding me back from purchasing it is the severe lack of national teams.

I sold my xbox one yesterday so I will be giving ps4 a try with fifa 17. I am holding off on buying fifa 17 though. This is the first time in many years I did not preorder fifa. Fifa 16 was just too awful for me to preorder again. Then with all the chemistry issues that EA basically hid and lied to the players about made me really not want to buy. I will be holding off until the reviews come in, and remember, EA always releases a major update mid October that drastically changes the game so any reviews before then are moot.

Sounds like some of the gameplay is similar to 16...but it looks prettier and has some new mechanics on set pieces that seem to be hit or miss (hearing it's a miss on the way the PK's are set up).

I keep thinking about going for PES and just importing the player names, etc....I hear the gameplay on PES is ahead of FIFA again this year. They just have next to nothing on licensing.

Speaking of which, which EPL team should I choose for The Journey and why?

I played the PES demo and enjoyed it quite a bit. I'll probably look to snag PES on black friday or maybe sooner if I can get a good deal. I want to give PES a real try, but don't want to pay $60 on a game that as you mentioned has little licensing.

I'm picking Leicester just out of personal preference. I heard Villa is a club you can get loaned to so I pray I can help villa get promoted and potentially sign for them.

That's kind of where I'm at...just want the best gameplay. Like I have said in this thread, I will likely just pick up FIFA tomorrow, otherwise would've broken down and got PES by now.

If someone wants to post a quite review of the game on here, that'd be great. I am curious if there are any noticeable changes.

It's a prettier looking game for sure, the Frostbite engine really is an upgrade in terms of the graphics and feel.

I'm a pure online, head to head player so take that with whatever grain of whatever that you want. All I really care about is gameplay.

The game overall is a lot of fun and it did improve several of the "cheesy" defects the last game had. Slide tackles are no longer overpowered. Defense in general is much more of a challenge and there are real consequences to playing reckless, too aggressive, and putting your players out of position. You definitely have to be conscious of your shape because counter attacks in this game are lethal.

With all that said I have two major gripes as of right now. The good news is both of these can be corrected with patches, the question is will EA patch them?

    1. Headers are ridiculously overpowered. Any newbie who picks up the game for the first time and is explained quickly how to do them can score on a set piece now. EA adjusted set pieces TOO much....it went from pretty hard to score to now it's way to easy. Headers overall are overpowered and need to be tweaked. Every cheese ball online will be milking this.

    2. There's a certain part of the pitch that basically has a glitch and you can score about 70-80% of your long shots from that spot. This REALLY needs to be patched ASAP because in almost every game I've played guys try it so most of the community has already figured it out. All I'll say is that shots across your body from outside the box on your players strong foot have a really good chance of going in.

I just want the gameplay to be realistic...nothing should work that close to automatically that often. If these 2 things are toned done via patches I'd be very happy overall with the game.

    Just my 2 cents.

I'm pretty rusty playing I guess....I didn't spend a ton of time with 2016 as I didn't have time. Seems to me for the most part the play is pretty solid. Graphics are great. Players likenesses are really nice.

I seem to have a hard time defending the ball and a hard time scoring. But like I said, I'm pretty rusty...after a couple games got the defense down a bit although shooting is pretty hit and miss for me. But I'd rather have realistic scores than knock 5 goals into the net every game.

So far I like it...but I have only spent a couple of hours playing....

One complaint - PK's. I have a hard time controlling the aim on these...the stick seems VERY touchy to me...smallest little movement and the aiming arrow seems to go way left or right, or way high.
