Alex Aguinaga might be our next coach boys. Two Ecuadorian news outlets are reporting it. He just quit Dep. Cuenca and will be in Quito on Thrusday to meet with Liga also he has an offer in Mexico.
Don't know what to think but I guess it's good if we get Aguinaga. He is doing a good job in Cuenca but I mean... its not phenomenal or something. So I'll just wait and see but this team needs a lot of work. Can't be firing coaches left and right.
The deal is done. His contract is for only until the end of the year and then they will revisit whether they extended or not.
Well now he has his shot in a big team but honestly not under the right circumstances the pressure is big from fans and Paz. He has his work cut for him I hope for his sake and Ligas that he succeeds.
Hey guys, I think Aguinaga is a great move by Paz, I feel as if Liga lacks a bit of attitude and identity, I might be wrong simply because I do not follow Liga as much as I focus on my club, but it seems to me the original intention was to let Borghi start a long process in LDU, perhaps based on Colo Colo's era with Borghi. Problem was that Borghi screwed up in every single aspect, Putting the team together, he missed key pieces, he brought the team morale and lots of players lost confidence, consider yourselves lucky that he didnt get away with bringing Chupete Suazo here, he retired 2 weeks ago. LMFAO. Aguinaga has shown he can do good things with not much to work with, this is by far the most talented squad he's ever coached and healthiest institution he's worked for, he played there and Quito is his home, Choclo, Cevallos, Aleman, Hidalgo are great players and I for one envy you Liguistas for getting Fernando Guerrero, one of the most underrrated players in our futbol.
Aguinaga did good with Cuenca but I still feel like he should have stayed there more time to really prove him self and do something more noted with Cuenca meaning playing with them next season again and still having them in the top half of the table,qualifying them to Copa Sudamericana, Get some experience in a cup with Cuenca etc. I might also be saying that because I like Cuenca as well but it would have made me fell better if he came to Liga after doing things like that. Your right Cuenca didnt have a lot going for them and he did do well with what little they had. The only issue I have with all this is that I fell like Paz is losing his cool with Liga. To do this now was a little drastic IMO. And like I said the Pressure from fans and Paz is going to be big. Our issues arent going to go away that easy and Liga fans and Paz need to understand that. The decisions need to be made with a cool head and they need to be done wisely. The team Borghi tried to build was full of old players so if he was trying to do a long project he started of all wrong. Economic issued might have played in there. Borghi and Paz might have looked to these players to build a short term team, play good, but also save money. Borghi really favored the older more experience players that came in more than the players we had last season. And yea this hurt the confidence of a lot of players. No wonder Alves left to BSC. And as for Guerrero he had a really good season with IDV before he left to mexico but now he is coming back getting little to no playing time from the mexican b league. It really questionable how he will preform in Liga at this point and TBH im not to excited about him.
Like I said it is going to take a lot of work and time to fix our issues Aguinaga really has his work cut out for him.
Liga has a great squad. We actually had the greatest squad in years at the beginning of the season (had Alvez not left, sh****t- even better). I wonder what Zubeldia would've been able to do with all those players. Would've made Liga incredibly great and battled it out with BSC for the Primera Etapa along with having a great Libertadores run. Liga's team was built to have an incredible Libertadores which is where the huge disappointment comes. At the very least I saw Liga disputing Quarter Finals with the team that was assembled. Anyway, the squad still remains strong, although obviously not AS strong as before, but still very much competitive enough to win the Segunda Etapa without asking anyone for any favors. That being said, Borghi and then Gutierrez were not meant to be in Liga. Aguinaga I hope heals the wounds and lifts everyone back up. As far as Guerrero, I differ in my opinion with you. I think Guerrero was possibly one of the more overrated players from his generation. The fact that he was a youth product of Real Madrid made everyone, including myself, believe that he was going to be a star player. He's actually failed in every team and league he's played in besides IDV where he found consistency and success. Failed in the PL with Burnley, in second division ball with Villarreal B, and then Leon Negros in Mexico where he had more game time in second division, but wasn't anything out of the ordinary. He was supposed to be the next big thing at one point and his issues outside of the field and disciplinary factors didn't contribute to helping him grow as a player. He's 26 and still hasn't had a lot of success. Or at least not as much as I expected he would have at one point. IMO he's very much average. Not a bad player, but nothing incredible. I have doubts in him simply b/c he already failed in lots of teams and even in a big Ecuadorian team (Emelec). Of course he was much younger back then and Emelec was in a terrible moment at the time, but it doesn't help me (as a Liguista) feel anymore confident that he'll have success in Liga. I hope he does though because we need him.

Yea dude I was surprised. Chucho Bolanos wasnt a surprise for me kinda expected it. But then I saw Reasco, Tenorio, Benavidez, and Canga and I was like what??? Reasco still has some Juice in him he had some good moments when he played. Maybe he wants him to be around young players who have high stamina and can run back and forth so he is more on his feet. I kinda want to do this with Ayovi to see if he gets faster or gets better at defending against really fast players. Benavidez not sure what to think about that. Canga I dont think its a good sign if Alex sent him back. I hope he gets back on his feet and matures.
I worry that Canga has not been able to consolidate himself after his first year as a juvenile with Zubeldia where he did pretty well. He's 21 now if I'm correct. He still has a little more time to bloom, but the fact that Aguinaga sent him to train with the U-19 isn't a good sign. The rest of the players- I could see why. It's to no surprise. Hopefully Canga improves. I would hate to see him fall. He was very promising when he started in Liga with Zubeldia. When Luis Romero came to Liga it was game over for him, but then again last year at some point Romero was literally one of the best center backs in the league.
Aguinaga is really becoming the coach we hoped for big win vs Emelec yesterday a few things I wanted to point out. Viteri: His preformance is really impresive better than I thought it would be he really might be one of the best GK of this etapa. Cevallos: He is back I really hope he catches Quinteros eye we have a couple of injured players I doubt he makes on the list this time but hopefully his time for the NT comes soon. Guerrero: He is recovering his form hopefully he continues to improve he had a nice game vs Emelec as well. I really want to see more from Alman and Narvaez but overall promising comeback for this etapa.

I like that Aguinaga has had great connection with our guys. You can totally tell there's a notable improvement in our squad. Most of all and most importantly- attitude. There's that desire to win.
Looks like Liga is improving, but I'm not liking the way they play. Their technique is so bad. One player gets the ball and no one is around. They rely on long passes too much. There is no touch passes at all. They defense over plays the ball all the time. They are so late to get to the ball they often get turned around and get left behind. If you know you're not going to get there on time, then you don't go for the ball at full speed, it's better to prevent the defender from passing you. They take terrible gambles. That's horrible technique they teach little kids. Why is the goalie out so far away from the goal? I could even chip in a goal easy with that much space. Aguinaga has a lot of work to do but for now I'm not satisfied. There is no clear and organized Futbol. Its just bad.
I'm sorry. I'm watching Liga right now against Cuenca and they suck so bad. I'm about to punch my monitor. I don't know what the hell Aguinaga is coaching but the tactics suck. If I could record the game and post all the stupid passes or passes they should be making I would. Instead of passing it back and or even right in front of the player they just blast the ball far and end it up losing it. So freaking frustrating to watch Liga play right now. If Aguinaga keeps up like this he won't last. PASS THE DAMN BALL AND KEEP IT! Dammit I don't get how Ecuadorian coaching are so ********ing dumb.
Damn... sorry but I hate Alemán. Dude sucks. If he looked around instead of shooting he would have assisted in at least two goals tonight. I don't know why Liga sign him.
