Looks like Anderson Ordonez (ex. BSC and ex Nacional) has made a good return to BSC and is making a name for himself. Oswaldo Minda's injury made room for him on the line up. Now Marques plays as a #5 and it seems like Ordonez has been putting in work during training lately b/c he convinced BSC's coach that he should start. When things like that are done in a big team like BSC it means that the player on the come up is the real deal. Let's see if he can hold onto that form consistently for a longer period. BSC's defense is VERY young. I think Pineida at 24 is the oldest and most experienced with Velasco at 22. That is VERY VERY VERY freaking young for a defense. I'm pretty sure BSC's average in age for the defense that played this weekend is freakin 22 years old. The fans should thank Jose Cevallos. This is literally all his work put through. He's all about the youth. I bet had Noboa still been president it would still be Perlaza, Checa, and a poorly performing foreigner in that defense.

If that defense holds up the entire season and beyond, we got another 4 STRONG connection for the NT. Velasco, Aimar, Ordonez, Pineida- all have NT potential. Every single one of them. And due to their age and the moment BSC is having, it's all about BSC and IDV's defense right now. Those two defenses along with Erazo, Ramirez, Paredes, and Walter (until he retires) should be the base of the NT between now and the next WC and certainly beyond that if their consistency remains (which is the KEY). Luis Caicedo, Arturo Mina, Dario Aimar- are all in great condition at the moment. Velasco and Pineida have to show that they can remain consistent. Ordonez is the new guy breaking into the team. Let's see what he's about.

Crazy....now we have a great number of center backs at an above average level to feel confident in our NT's future. The real questionable area to me is the wings. Besides Bryan Cabezas I'm kind of seeming a slump in that area with the youth.

Now we know why Nehme placed such a high price tag on him.
It's not just him though, I'm really impressed with Segundo Portocarrero and Jordan Jaime, both are very young but well developed.
Im not sure if Achillier, Guagua, Bagui and Quinonez have another championship run on them though.

I suppose financial limitations force you to look at the youth divisions for answers, Aimar and Ordoñez were not formed in BSC but were brought in to finish their development here, I agree that with an irresponsable president we would have thrown money that we didnt have towards foreign or overpriced local players.
Cevallos has done an amazing job putting out fires and encouraging young talents, However, Much credit goes to Alfaro Moreno and Almada himself as well, Such a young defensive line and seeing players like Wacho Vera benching Chivo Suarez and Erick Castillo get so many minutes its satisfying and as a fan I can't help but feel a bit hopeful.
Dude, this etapa has impressed me with the amount of young talent out there and just the level of futbol overall, leaving IDV out since their young talent is well known already, but Emelec with Jordan Jaime, Segundo Potocarrero, and other clubs as well, you mentioned somewhere else Walter Chala playing well and scoring, Estrada, Balda and Chala in El Nacional doing great things as well.
I for one am looking forward to segunda etapa, I expect LDU to compete for that first place, IDV fully focused on the campeonato (some players will be gone) Emelec and BSC should remain competitive and beware of El Nacional, they have a strong group with a great mix of youth and Experience.

Yea these teams are caching on to what IDV is doing they are trying to improve their youth systems and for the most part are looking for coaches that are great at developing youth Almanda didnt convince me before but he is now. BSC is playing great. El Nacional, Emelec and other teams are incorporating more youth players into there first team. Our league is changing and hopefully that means that Ecuador can one day become a player factory and get more players into Europe if this continues.

Cevallos' first 8 months with the team and already etapa ganada, qualified to final and Libertadores! Great job,
I wasnt Almada's biggest fan but Im glad they allowed the process to carry on.
Great job on paying debts, encouraging young players and not overspending.
I think 2nda Etapa is going to be even harder, Emelec, Liga, IDV and Nacho will compete.

Emelec is highly dependent on Mena. If he were to leave Emelec would suffer for a bit and feel his absence. In 2015 it was all him and Miller. When Quinteros was around he made the ENTIRE attacking half shine- not just two players. But then again Quinteros style of playing allowed it. Every other coach after him has been mediocre IMO which is why Emelec isn't collectively as strong as before. They're more dependent on individual players having a genius moment and carrying the team forward. Quinteros' Emelec was a machine in all areas. I still think to this day....had Quinteros not left Emelec in the middle of that Copa Libertadores 2015 I bet money they would've made it to the final. Win it? I don't know because it takes an extra push and River was in their moment taking over everything, BUT I still firmly believe they could've made it that far.

I can honestly say I did NOT see Washington Vera benching Suarez AND Erick Castillo. I had my money on Erick Castillo starting after Penilla left. Vera took over completely once Penilla left. I saw Castillo as a work in progress, but when you're THAT good like Vera is proving to be it's hard to stop the flow. Also, Esterilla has had a great year. I think he's actually been overlooked because all eyes were on Penilla and Alvez almost the entire first semester since they were the star players and stand outs, but Esterilla has grown a lot as a player. This is HIS year (he's 23). Perfect moment to blow up and claim your spot in a big team. Him and Vera together make up for Penilla leaving and then some. BSC has a threatening attacking half. I honestly thought after a few seasons Esterilla would be stuck and not elevate his performance level, but he surprised the f*ck out of me this year. Washington Vera- let's not even talk. Dario Aimar and now Anderson Ordonez-Did anyone see that coming? I surely didn't, but what I did know is that with Cevallos and Almada there the youth divisions and younger players were going to be a work in progress....but DAMN THAT FAST. Impressive to say the least. Oh and you can't forget Alfaro Moreno- this guy knows it all when it comes to youth divisions since he's all about his academies for developing them.

Emelec- I've known Jordan Jaime is a beast. Anyone remember the 2014 season how this kid benched Jorge Guagua out of the blue? Literally out of the blue a few games towards the end of the season Emelec was even playing Copa Sudamericana and Quinteros benched Guagua for a handful of games and Jordan Jaime was killing it. I had the craziest first impression with this kid because I remember him at U-17 playing qualifiers and WC and he did not impress me. He had me worried. The kid developed into an awesome promising center back....and then that injury in Copa Sudamericana had him out for almost all 2015. I thought he wouldn't make a return because when you get injured that early on sometimes players disappear...as promising and good as they may have been. But this kid came back and he's only 20 years old. To think he had Guagua benched at 18 years of age. I'll say this Guagua almost never gets benched which is why I think it was a big deal. Every team he's played on he's mostly been a starter (in and out of Ecuador). Now Jordan is back and he even has Fernando Pinillo deeper in the bench behind him....and I honestly think that kid is a good player but he has trouble finding consistency and he's 24. He should've found it by now. I wanna see if Jordan Jaime holds onto this spot for the rest of the season. Then i'll know he's back for good (fingers crossed for no injuries). Segundo Portocarerro is interesting right now. I'll leave it at that. Need to see more games from him just like Anderson Ordonez to believe it's real. I've seen way more of Ordonez from his Nacional days, but Portocarerro is fairly new so I'll give it some time.

If anything this break will do us good, by Saturday's game against Cuenca we should have a healthy Esterilla, Ordoñez should be close to be fully recovered and anyone else with any type of pain or bother should have recovered.

We also had that friendly against U-20 Ecuador and it was a 2-2 tie, I didnt watch it but I heard that the stadium was full, I actually have had a hard time finding information about this game. I assume Almada is trying to find a formation without Diaz.

Diaz is not THAT important, he is but him not playing can be fixed, Aleman is playing so good right now, we hace Castillo, Suarez, Vera, Calderon in the bench eager asf to play.
Diaz is good dont get me wrong but his flops and yelling and mood swing fvck it up for us many times.

I disagree, Kitu Diaz has been fundamental in this second round, do I think we can win without him? Absolutely, but I like our chances with him much much better.
