just to be clear .. thats not a PK.. but following your logic .. every handball in the PK should be called as a PK which is not accurate.
That was not my logic. But let's hear yours - why shouldn't this have been a penalty? I have to admit, I'm actually quite stunned this is being discussed.
Read my post. I am not saying it should not have been a PK, I am saying it didn't have to be. No intent and it didn't prevent a goal scoring opportunity. The ref's decision played the biggest role in the match.
I didn't see his explanation, he didn't quote me, but I just went and looked. He's saying it did not have to be a PK, not that it wasn't. I'm really not sure where you're trying to go with this. No one is saying it wasn't a PK but somehow it was wrong for it to be called a PK? And no, I'm not trolling. I think I've actually been quite nice and used humor instead of getting annoyed at some of the ridiculous and nasty comments I've read.
I answered your question on why it was a soft PK call. I won't speak for any one else but it is hard for me right now to be happy and humorous when we lost a match that we should have won, but didn't because our manager decided to bring only one striker, he got injured and everyone else decided to suck at scoring during this tourney. Yes, you have been nice...and it isn't helping...lol.
if the handball is not preventing a goal then 9.9 out 10 times it doesnt get called .. if the ball touched the defender hand while his hand is in a natural position (on his hips) then 9.99 out 10 times it doesnt called. now the question is, did piggy prevented a goal scoring opportunity? was his hand up in the air like boa last game? was piggy intention to stop the ball with his bands? if the answer is no then it shouldnt have been called . make sense ?
No need for you to be happy or humorous and btw, I wasn't referring to you in regards to the comments I've read. I'd be upset too. I was also very upset when TSilva gave away the penalty against Chelsea, but I thought it was the right call.
That is pure garbage, handball penalties get called all the time. His hands were not in a natural position, it's weird that you think it's okay to handle the ball like that. Please don't be condescending. Go over to the ref forum and see what they have to say about the call.
I don't think it was the wrong call...but I am not a fan when refs decide the match or have a hand in it. You guys won and deserved it based on the scoreline. Germany were unable to do jack shit with the ball during the 60% possession that they had. Congrats and enjoy the final....
The referee did not decide the match, Schweinsteiger did. He was too late, too slow, too injured, and/or too old to get to Evra in time. He took a risk by fisting the ball off of Evra's header. The assistant referee spotted it. Penalty. Correct application of the rules. Not sure why all the misdirected angst. It should be directed at Schweinsteiger.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure he didn't try to fist the ball because he was too late and was trying to prevent a goal with a last ditch attempt.... I'm not excusing him but c'mon, it was an unintentional handball.
Really? Haha. His right hand is in a fist. His left hand is open. Maybe he was trying to punch Evra? Lol. But keep grasping at straws...
So it was intentional because one hand was a fist and the other was open? If his hand was open you would have just said he was trying to swat the ball away.
Just a random sampling of neutral journalists, I watched football TV talk shows on channels from Brasil, Argentina, Mexico, and the USA. All commentators on all channels unanimously agreed that the Schweinsteiger handball was a penalty.
I didn't expect to be brought to our 98 final. There's never been any discussion at this time. We were not nice-looking but we totally controlled the whole game. Guivarc'h and Dugarry were awful, but Deschamps did a lifetime performance. Ask Ronaldo again about what happened. He'll answer you for sure.
Well, the other way to look at it is that Bastian lost his man inside the box and the ball was going right towards that open man. So seems like a scoring opportunity to me. Hence the yellow card. Anyway, lots of penalties are given even when there is no scoring opportunity. Look at England against Iceland. A scoring opportunity is not required, as I'm sure you know.
Not the first time France benefitted from a hand ball penalty in a semi final Look at 2000. I'm Sure the refs have it all set up for them in the final but hopefully Portugal wins its about time we take this trophy .
