Gotze taking Gomez is not my biggest worry, it's the middle of the team in midfield. Hope at least one of Khedira or Basti makes it.

    Schürrle perhaps, or Müller himself

I misunderstood Kicker. Kicker wrote that Khedira is out for the semis and in doubt for a potential final.

Hummels it's your major loss. The others dont even come close to him.

No Gündogan, then no Khedira, then no Schweini possibly. Hummels is the biggest loss in terms of talent, but we are really digging deep into the bench to have Kroos' CM partner now.

Curious fact: In the Euro 2012 QF against Greece, guess which player got called for a handball in the penalty are?

Yup, Boateng. Bit of a streak here.

Howedes is a capable CB defender if uninspiring when moving forward. He can deputize for Hummels. I'm not worried about that.

The issue is now Kroos' midfield partner. The dearth at CM was rarely touched on because everyone was focusing on CF and FB, but now we're seeing it. Kroos-Khedira-Schweinsteiger have traded off for those two spots with no real backup plans (especially with Ilkay always injured). Weigl, from the very little I know of him, seems like a Kroos-type of player so I'm not really sure he's the answer to this issue.

I guess it will be Can for Khedira. I don't see Löw trusting Weigl.

Bild says Khedira and Gomez out rest of tourney. Julian, time to step up. And why not? Kimmich and Hector have.

I have always found Hummels to be your leader in the back line, and no matter how good Howedes is, replacing the best defender-with Bonucci-in the world...its not easy.

But i can see why the CM issue worries you the most.

Why do we need to act likes dicks when other people act like idiots? Why do we sink to the level that is lower than one we should abide by? I never understood why people think it is ok to act like a douchebag when others have opinions that vary. Why act with such fucking hostility?

Man up, read their shit and move on. Going through pages and pages of back and forth kindergarden banter is what upsets me more than people visiting.

I cannot go to every other board and go through pages and pages of their threads trying to get an idea of what other teams may be thinking or saying so I welcome the ones that come here and share their thoughts. If their thoughts are ones that seem like bullshit..move the fuck on.

The loud minority here makes our boards seem hostile and unwelcoming. If I was our MOD, I'd clean up our own house first.

Well, Weigl did get more time in Khedira's role than Bender, Sahin and Gundo last season st BVB.

Can has some familiarity with the team and Löw tends to favor that. If he bombs then maybe he puts Weigl in for him.

If Can bombs, we may not have an opportunity for Weigl. No 3rd place matches in the Euros.

Too bad that Löw didn't give the young lads Weigl, Can, Sane one single minute of playing time until now. Would have been possible for example against Slowakia and could have been useful

I didn't say the GER fans should react. I'm saying it makes no sense to come here if you're not a GER fan and expect people to not be arrogant in their own house. The whole thing is childish but hardly surprising. To throw that back into people's faces is ridiculous, largely because that's probably what other fans wanted by acting like a tool in someone else's team forum.

It's not ok to be a douche, but sometimes, that's what you're gonna get. A lot of people here function with high stress levels during the tournament. The high road is blocked.

I don't mind people talking shit in their own forums...true, that may be a bit natural. Especially with each other as we are familiar with other posters and their style of posting, however, I don't act the same way with guests in my house than I do alone. Jesus, I've come to find out - no one like a streaker making drinks for them, do they?

Holy crap, what a match this was!

I watched the game on my phone at a metal festival - i.e. I had to watch this nail-biter of a game + this absolute heart attack of a shootout after several nights of little sleep and heavy drinking. Must've been fun for the neutrals, I suppose, but this stuff isn't good for my health! :D

It's somewhat disappointing, though, that the legendary German efficiency when taking penalties seems to be a thing of the past now - I hope they put some more work into practicing them, especially Müller (he's missed a few for Bayern as well recently).
