Everyone and their mothers could see Biglia was either going to miss or throw a weak penalty... guy was about to break down in tears, it was like watching a train crash in slow-mo.

Luck always plays a factor, but those who think it is ONLY luck are doing themselves a disservice. I have nothing against Biglia, the guy is a trooper for taking a penalty in the first place... but Martino ********ed up by leaving him on the pitch when he could barely stand. Look at how hard our fresh sub Castillo hit his penalty.

Babies? lol ... you sound pretty butthurt ...

Instead of whining why don't you offer the better solution? How should we decide the tie game? An arm wrestling match between the captains? The goalkeeper with the longer penis wins? I'd like to hear suggestions ...

And please don't blame penalties for why this wasn't one of the top 100 games all time ... Blame Higuain for missing his open shot in first half. You make this game 1-0 and you change everything because the other team has to open up.

Neither team deserves to be pitied. If you can't win in regulation you deserve your fate. If Chile would have lost the penalties they would have deserved it to.

It's funny to hear football fans complain about tie games. If it's such a big problem for you there are many other sports to pick from. In baseball they sometimes play until 2 AM to decide a winner but those fat asses don't run so they can go until the morning if they have to. Have fun watching that 'better' sport.

Loco isnt just any football fan. Look at his thoughts pre game on last year's final. He was a complete arrogant troll. But the loss didn't stop him.

Lets not make the classic mistake in forums. Just because Loco, who imo is not making a good point, happens to be from Argentina, lets not try to get "back at him" by attacking or dissing his country or national team.

The truth is Argentina ARE a world class team, period. They did not lose the finals, Chile won them. They will bounce back and in 2018 they will be once again be one of the favorites to at least reach the final.

If keeper guesses right, you win. - wonderful way to decide a game. Nope, I don't see anything wrong with this.

I honestly would not mind if Pellegrini made Argentina world champions in 2018... as long as it doesn't mean they have to beat Chile to do it.

I will stop posting here because I feel that its unfair to have a discussion about the merits of a PK shootout, when this is a thread about a game. But look, soccer balls travel way faster than when Lev Yashin was plaing; these are not leather balls that travel at 20mphs. All goalkeepers "go" before the ball is kicked; ergo, its a guessing game. That's all.

Actually, probably they found out that coaching other teams, they would win.

While coaching Argentina (their own team), all they could ever reach is second place.

Joking aside, Argentina seem to save the worst of their managers for themselves, with the exception of Sabella and Pekerman.

I wonder what Simeone, Sampaoli or Pochettino could do with this team...

Hey man, the match between Argentina and Chile wasn't decided over what the goalkeepers did (both keepers avoided one shot each).

You guys lost because this time, your golden boy Messi decided to imitate what Higuain did, the year before, by kicking the ball all the way to the spectators, far away to where they count. Something no chilean player did.
And kicking the ball inside the goal, is the most legitimate play of football.

That's why you lost in the PK shootout.

On the one hand I respect Argentina wanting to win everything, but on the other hand get over it ... 3 finals in 3 years ... 99% of countries would love to have such a 'crisis'

There is something worse about getting so close and not winning though, I totally get where they come from... it's like being one point short of a perfect score in a test. It's incredibly frustrating and it messes with your head.

Argentina is just not mentally strong, during finals. The pressure always gets to them. They could have easily won atleast 1 cup, if they played their cards right.

No me lo compro. ¿Qué crisis o "gran problema"? La selección Argentina está bien. Chile ganó la final, ambas. Lo mismo con Alemania. Han llegado a las 3 últimas finales, es un gran logro.
