https://footballfutbolcalciosoccer.blogspot.com/2016/06/euro-2016-best-xi-group-stage-round-of.html The English you feel have more gears to go through beyond what was seen in the group stage (at least based on the players on the roster), they qualified but it just didn't seem that they hit the heights they are capable of. Not sure what Hodgson feels his best XI looks like, but having three strikers who ended their league campaign bang in form (i.e. Kane, Vardy, Sturridge) who can blame him for tinkering a bit. Iceland, seriously how have they qualified and now gone unbeaten through the group stage. The impossible story keeps going, on and on and on. Notwithstanding the victories over the Dutch in qualifying, eliminating the English from a major tournament in the knockout stage - now that would be some story....seriously though can it really happen? Eh now that England voted to leave the Euros, does that mean Iceland win by forfeit? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Please feel free to take the first step toward avenging the damage the imbecilic Brits have unleased on the world. Kick their asses Iceland
Iceland's goalie concedes a clumsy penalty in the 4th minute and Rooney converts. 1-0 England. And now Iceland ties it in the 6th minute. 1-1 already.
I think we as a country fell into the danger of underestimating a country. Iceland mean business. They're here for a reason. We need to show we are too. So far so England.
Nah, Sterling was begging to be subbed. Should have come off for Wilshere instead of Dier though, without an actual defensive midfielder Wilshere has to stay deep and resort to long balls mostly. That's a waste of his ability and another not very smart decision by Hodgson.
Messi apparently retired from international soccer yesterday... I wonder if Rooney will follow suit if this holds... Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Good job Iceland! What an incredible accomplishment Please don't embarrass us in the QFs, we are at home!!
England are always overrated by British media and all the fans they have. They have crazy passion, reminds me of Canada with Hockey but, the difference Canada wins most of the time. When was the last time England went to the semis? They have a young team who need experience, they did however have a solid team from 2004 to 2008. Things change fast though, Spain aren't the 08-12 team anymore and maybe we'll never see them in our life time that strong. My Portugal team was great from 2000 - 2006, but so was France, Germany, Italy. We have a team more for 2018 - 2020. It takes skill, health, luck and calls from the refs to win these tournaments. Rashford was awesome for the 5 minutes he played, manager should have played him sooner...
Not happy with this result so if we can collect enough signatures to hand into parliament maybe we can get it replayed (tongue in cheek )
England has always been overrated because of the popularity of the EPL. But the national team has consistently underachieved, failing to make a major tournament final since World Cup 1966, and semifinal since Euro 1996, both when they were tournament hosts. And people seem to have forgotten that Iceland beat the Netherlands twice in the qualifying along with Turkey and the Czechs, as well as drawing with Portugal in the group stage. People are treating this result as if it was a huge upset....it wasn't. After all, Iceland were arguably in better form than England entering the match.
