Gonna be a good game. Replay of last year. Have 2 extra tickets can overnight at costs. Can't go too many things I have to attend to.
First world cup i can remember watching was WC2002 when we were eliminated in the group stages,. CA2004 final , lost on penalties with brazil,. Which we should've won if it wasnt for adrianos brilliance in the last minutes. Confed Cup 2005 lost the final to brazil, not even a close game... WC2006 looking good with perkerman, Was beating germany in the QF when they got the equalizer late in the game and sure enough we were eliminated on Penalties. CA2007 well lets just forget about the WC and worry about winning a copa america, made it to the final rather easy... Got beat by brazil in the final again.. Wamp wamp wamp.. Thats 3 lost finals already,.. But wait Theres mooore... WC2010 hopeful but skeptical about this one as we bearly qualified... Looked pretty good but reality came crashing down (like mexico last week) and we got the goleada from Germany & knocked out again in the QF 2nd time in a row by germany... CA 2011 argentina hosting so what can go wrong right?!? We eliminated by uruguay On PK's in the QF...... WC2014 we looked good, not amazing how ppl were expecting but an effective Argentina that was winning even if it was Boring and unattractive, Sure enough We made it to the final & u guessed it.. We lost, and to germany for the third time in a row.... CA2015 same squad basically... Hurt over the loss but ready to make up for it, Great copa we had reached the final,. And u guessed it, lost... On PK's.... & here we are, Copa america 2016... Third final in three years,. Im excited But skeptical,... Can we do it this time?!
Don't complain too much guys, for most of the rest of us 'suffering' is watching the other teams at the WC half the time and only the occasional CA quarter's or semi's. ......... i do feel bad for the 2 final losses in a row though. Clearly a great team, consistent, and talented. if it wasn't Chile, i'd be rooting for Argentina. Last 4 official games between Chile and Argentina - Copa America 16 - USA ----------------- Argentina 2 - 1 Chile - WCQ 2018 - Santiago ------------- Argentina 2- 1 Chile - Copa America 15 - Santiago ------------- Argentina 0 - 0 Chile (PK win) - WCQ 2014 - Santiago--------------Argentina 1-0 Chile All of these games have been very tight. Neither team has been able to dominate the game, and they have all had very tense midfield battles. Chile has carried more possession in these games but has had difficulty creating consistent scoring chances and capitalizing on what they have created. Argentina has not controlled the ball against Chile the way they are usually able to against other teams, but have been strong on defense against Chile and very clinical up front ---- forcing mistakes and capitalizing. I see another close one. Messi is in better form now than he has been in the past when playing Chile, while the Chilean offense is also firing at a more effective clip than they have in the past as well. Should be close, intense, and emotional AF for those invested.
Agree, another close partidazo, That im sure the neutrals will enjoy while we bite our nails & yell at our TV's... Atleast the copa stays in the continent [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My flight to New York is in less than 24 hours... will be my first time seeing both these teams play in person (Argentina U-17s WC 3rd place playoff in Abu Dhabi notwithstanding).... but really pumped to finally see Messi play in person. Hoping for a great game.
So far... After 5 games played Chile- Goals for 16 Goals conceded 5 Clean sheets 2 Argentina- Goals for 18 Goals conceded 2 Clean sheets 3 Keep in mind two of the goals chile received were from argentina, And 1 of the goals argentina received was from chile. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well Happy 29th Birthday to Messi and he will celebrate in style 2 days later on Sunday when he shows that the 3rd time is the charm and he ends Argentina's 23 year suffering and lead Argentina to a revenge 3-1 win over Chile!!
It would be pretty harsh for Argentina to lose three finals in a row, the first in about the 115th minute or something, the second on penalties, and the third to a team they already beat in the group stage. Let's see if this is their time.
