Also it's in the back of my mind..... But if we get past the R16 then we face one of two teams that we haven't beaten in a very long time or not at all...

Facing our 2 biggest bogey teams in the QF doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. I hope that curse can be lifted :/

Think about the positive side...if we want to win the tournament we have to beat either Italy or Spain but not both down the road

Well if he scored a goal ... which he was damn well close to doing... he would have been the star and got a rating of 1.5 .. So yes I think he played ok the first 45

Kimmich has got me pumped. He is the first new player in the national team in a long time that I feel is going to make a huge difference. I see him starting against Slovakia and starting on the bench against the big teams with Low opting for the big CBs to start the game and bring him later on to help finish them off. Pass them to death then bring on the fire power to finish them off. His crosses were of the highest quality much better than Lahms. He had a pass across the field that was similar to what Kroos can do. I have no idea if he will actually make a decent RB when it comes to defending though as N Ireland attack was zero.

Do you guys remember the last time Germany kept clean sheet in a Euro's Group stage? That was Euro 1996 and they also had 2 wins + 1 draw.

And I think the champion that year was, errrrrrrh uhmmm, Germany:cool:

We also had an injury crisis forcing star players out of the tournament at the last minute like this year.

I hope that the defensive minded change that Loew brings when facing the top teams is to drop Goetze and play a 3 man midfield of Kroos, Khedira and Schweini. Kimmich can defend just as well as Hoewedes. He played in central defense for months for Bayern this season and looked mostly solid. I don't think he will be much of a liability at RB, and his technique, passing skills, calmness under pressure and vision would help a lot when passing out of pressure from the likes of Italy/Spain.
