A healthy Reus would solve so many issues

We could start a true striker in Gomez

    Reus Ozil Mueller

    Sorry for the digression

Even better than a healthy Reus would be a healthy Ilklay.

Wining and securing the top spot surely relax our minds but we cannot forget N Ireland is a small team in a country with barely more than 1 million population. Can't wait to see how we fare against bigger teams with this new squad.

some stats: Ozil has an insane passing rate of 99% accurary , not sure if the stats system is correct because that's way too high.

At the same time, Northern Ireland topped their qualifying group and beat Ukraine 2-0. They're not a bad team, even if they might not be a traditional name.

His not shit..who said that???Lets not forget he made us world champs ( well with the help of our strong willed players) Just seems he is not willing to experiment with different formations and pairing of different players.Specially during training camps and friendlies...he gets caught up in the headlights too much for a coach that has so many strong talented players..on and off the pitch :oops:

I agree. This was the most potent game played so far by the NE.High tempo with good ball distribution and field coverage ....if and only if we can keep the same rhythm and minimize the mistakes...we should be ok.The German Diesel engine may have just begun to warm up...which is a very dangerous thing and can carry heavy loads all the way to the promise land:thumbsup::ninja::thumbsup:

damn the branch Germany is on is too strong with Italy, spain, france, england and might be Portugal (waiting for result), whereas on the other side, the strongest team is Croatia and Wales.

The funny thing is how Poland can avoid such big names by finishing 2nd in the group, even N Ireland can have easier opponents.

well to be fair the Northern Ireland manager basically said that Germany always attacking and having possession forces them to defend the whole time and that we are more advanced than them. Also said if they didn't defend Germany would have won 7-0.

At the end of the day, this Euro is filled with teams that are defending non stop and also the inability to score is prevalent everywhere which is why so many games are 0-0, 1-0, or games are filled with goals in the last 15 minutes. We had Poland and Northern Ireland defend with their entire teams for almost the entire games and Ukraine except for the last 10 minutes of the 1st half were mostly defending too. Kinda hard to score against teams like this. Annoyingly I expect Slovakia to be the same if we do play them in the 16.

If this lineup is fit and in form for 2018 they might as well cancel the tournament and give Germany the trophy.

    Reus-----------Müller-------------Özil
    ------------Kroos---Gündogan
    -----------------Weigl
    Hector-Hummels-Boateng-Kimmich
    -----------------Neuer

Weigl and Kimmich will have 2 more years of high level football under their belts, Hector will likely be moved to a CL club, and only Neuer will be 30 or older (32) - still peak age for a goalkeeper.

Bild rating Goetze with 4, while everyone get´s a better grade...lol. I thought Mario did rather well yesterday. His movement was good, as well as his passing. He had two tremendously dumb turnovers, but overall he looked quite good. On the other hand: the guy seems soooo slow. I remember him being such a pacy and slick player for Dortmund and now he seems just...fat (I know he isn´t, but him working out and looking bulky does not positively affect his speed)

So looking at the possible second round.... It seems that beligium is the strongest team on the one side of the knock out rounds. Have to deal with Portugal, Wales, Poland, Croatia to get to the finals.....

On the other side we have Italy, Spain, Germany, France, and England......
Would have possibly been easier if we qualified second.... However the good things is , we should play better against teams that dont defend so much.. so games like Italy, SPain, France etc... should be good.

that's true, he looked better than Schürrle, not sure if Sane is ready to replace him.

I'm not sure what Draxler did to fall out of the conversation. I understand he was disappointing and average-ish, but to be honest so was every other attacker before Northern Ireland.

Draxler didnt seem like he really put an effort in getting something done in the two games and we cant afford passengers. He did not fight. It seemed like the tempo and pressure to play in a big tourney was too much for him.

    Neuer (3) -
    Kimmich (2) ,
    J. Boateng (2) ,
    Hummels (2,5) ,
    Hector (3,5) -
    Khedira (4) ,
    T. Kroos (3,5) -
    T. Müller (3) ,
    Özil (2) ,
    M. Götze (4) -
    Gomez (2)

    Einwechslungen:
    55. Schürrle (4,5) für M. Götze
    69. B. Schweinsteiger für Khedira
    76. Höwedes für J. Boateng

Kicker Ratings..... Clearly Kimmich impressed, hope he can do the same in the second game.
Goetze did play better then Schurrle I agree with that.
I think Jogi Should try this for the next game
    Kimmich--Boa--Hummels--Hector (maybe some one else)
    -----------Schweinie-----Kroos---------
    Sane------------Muller--------Oezil

You know it's virtually guaranteed that Reus and Gündogan will somehow managed to get injured in time for the tournament?

Hopefully players like Volland, Werner, Selke and especially J. Eggestein will have developed into top class strikers by then, and Sane will be one of the best dribblers in world football.

Jogi already said that second round we meeting another defensive minded team and could offer the same lineup as yesterday , but against more attacking teams we could see changes again.....
If Kimmich has another good game in the next round , I just hope he rather takes out hector then Kimmich... Does that mean Hoewedes is back in???

Hector is fine at lb, much better to have a player used to playing in that position then putting a cb there.

Imo Hector and Kimmich should remain as the full backs for the rest of the tournament. Schweini in midfield is the obvious change if the defence needs strengthening against better attacks. The back 4 should remain the same.

He did do well, it's hard to single him out because every player failed miserably when it came to finishing.

It's hard to know what his role is with the team and if the plug should be pulled.
